  Most people I hang around with professionally have never been anywhere or done anything where a shithole dive bar is a welcome sight. Too many of us get all kinds of stupid ideas from stupid Hollywood writers about what may or may not go down in such places. So it's sometimes hard to remember that everybody has some place and everybody is somebody. I know that sounds wishy-washy but it's just polite, and I'm not the kind of person to forget what polite means. So Sportsman's is A-OK with me.
  
  You're not supposed to smoke in Sportsman's but they do anyway. I'm coming back here when the lights go out.

  I agree with Anthony - this place is one part Animal house, two parts Deliverance.  The crowd is round (meth I'm guessin) and not friendly.

  Do you remember that one scene in Animal House when the boys pop into a soul club and the record scratches as soon as they come in? Yeah, that's prit-dee much what happened here. This was a definite shitkicker bar where there was line dancing, cowboy hats, a country band and probably even jugs of moonshine. Now, I'm usually comfortable anywhere I go so long as there's booze to make me forget where I'm at, but I knew we were just way too wasted to entertain ourselves here lest we get murdered for doing something stupid. Plus, there was Slackjawed Steve dogging us from across the bar (backstory: he almost got into a fight with one of us at the other bar across the street). So, we didn't even get to order drinks because we walked in, took a gander and turned around and took off. Thanks Sportsman, but no thanks.
  
  BTW, this was the second Sportsman (the other being in Los Alamitos or something) in my life that I've been too where it's just absolute shit (for me).
