Stopped here on our way back to H.B from Reno. Food was good I got the fish and chips with coleslaw. I love coleslaw but this one was just OK. Boyfriend got the pastrami and was very pleased. Mom got the grilled chicken and Ortega chili sandwich good bu messy. The food came from the kitchen really fast and or server was very nice and was quick to give refills.

I don't understand the bad reviews. My husband and I had a wonderful lunch here. Some nice lady there even went out to our car to say hi to the dogs, and didnt think we were strange for wanting to sit at the tiny table by the window so we could keep an eye on them. The iced tea was great, I had a chili size and it was tasty. No complaints.

This is for Jean who commented on my post..........READ the POST AGAIN
I was at your dump  in the summer after not going there for 4 years and I was commenting on my experience in the summer,  July 2011 to be exact. I was planning my  first trip there for this year  for the first week of May...as I mentioned, I was hoping THE OWNER would "get it" and fix things...Sportsman used to be a nice place...you are RUDE and MEAN and your crappy restaurant reflects YOU and your attitude..I was with my family looking at reveiws and planning our outings when I decided to comment on how BAD your restaurant is and how we were treated!

Also too....read Trip Advisor ...your reviews suck on that website too.....
My motive and everyone elses you ask? You have a restaurant, you treat customers like crap and we want to warn people so they patronize an establishmet that cares...Yelp is great! Folks get to comment on how they are treated!  It's sharing our experience...maybe you'll fix things so the experiences shared are positve!

Read on down...you called a serviceman a coward?  You got some real issues lady!

First of all I one star is giving Sportsmens waaaay too much credit! We came in the door at about 7:30pm one night, didn't get seated so we went ahead and seated ourselves. We waited for 15 minutes before our waitress FINALLY approached us. She couldn't speak English so it was very hard to communicate with her. Poor thing. Of course our order came out wrong. And speaking of our order the food was disgusting it seemed like something like leftovers from months before that were just quickly microwaved. We went to have some drinks at the bar where we came in contact with the most RUDE bartender. I think her name was Joanne. She seemed to have an attitude with everyone. And then who appeared to be the "owner" of this SHITHOLE came and sat at the bar next to us. He tried starting some small talk with us but I could tell he really just wanted to check out my wife. What a pig! I highly recommend that you don't bring your family around this place for a few reasons. #1- They kept playing horrible rap music a song that said "BACK THAT ASS UP." We asked the bartender to please change the music because in was very offensive to my family that was just trying to enjoy dinner. She said no she could not do anything about it. #2- There was a lady at the bar that kept flashing everyone there! #3- It smells like sewer and its very hard to eat your food when you smell sewer. Please just avoid Sportsmens!

First I love the town of Bridgeport and the fishing on the eastern slope is the best in California or any where as far as I am concerned. After the  best day fishing ever my buddy and I were crossing the street from Rhino's Bar And Grill about 12:15 on Oct 15th 2011  and  we saw that the bar had four people having a good time and most bars close around 1 or 2 on Saturday night and the door wasn't locked so we walked in and sat down and the closest guy to me that was still being served said didn't heard it was last call and I said no we didn't hear that at all. And then the rudest girl bar tender said maybe you shouldn't of spent all night at Rhino's well  we had one beer each at Rhino's .We couldn't believe what we just heard that was the most unfriendly person that I have ever seen in customer service . Wow we just looked at each other and left. I  know allot of my buddy's and their buddy's hunt and fish in X12 and I am going to tell them what happened . I can not believe the doors are still open. You need better help.

Chicken Caesar salad good. Pulled pork sandwich fine. Good service.  I read the lousy reviews on my iphone as I was waiting for my order (why do I do that?) and honestly, this place was quite decent and our experience not bad at all.  The locals at the bar are very emotive about sports, but hey if you don't want that, go with a chain.

My parents and I decided to stop in for dinner before the fireworks on the 4th of July this year. The dining room was filled with large parties and the bar was pretty much booked. We weren't greeted when we stepped inside, so after a few minutes, we sat ourselves at a small table right by the door. A harried-looking waitress finally made her way over, greeted us and brought us menus and cutlery and took our drink orders.

Overall, the service was dismal. By my observation, there seemed to be about three waitresses floating about the dining room, but only one who was actively doing any work, who was also serving us. She was busing large and messy tables, taking orders, serving the food and drinks when they were ready (from the bar who had one bartender and was backed-up). The other two just seemed to take a plate or two at a time and took orders. As frustrated as my parents and I were with the wait of getting attention from our waitress, I felt bad for her. She was apologetic, though as I watched her, she seemed a little scatter-brained, though understandably so.

The food was very good. My dad ordered the chili size, my mom the turkey dinner and I ordered a two beef taco plate. Everything was very flavorful and enjoyable. Their french fries were fantastic! The seasoning on them kept me eating after I had filled myself with my own dinner.

For the service, I wonder if it was the management not expected a lot of business, even though it was a holiday, so they didn't schedule their best servers or enough of them.

Bridgeport is a wonderful place and we love to fish it. This place is a NFL fans dream, but the food was JUST AWFUL. Eat anywhere else.

This place has been here for like a zillion years, and shows it. I think if you are a local, and they know you,, and like you...you might see decent service and food. Obviously, we were not locals and the service is slow and unfriendly. The food is just generic junk. You are way better off going to the Hays Street Cafe on the south end of town. It might be they just don't like you if you ae under 60 years old.

I have been going to the Sportsman Inn for many years.  I make it a point to stop there because the food is always fabulous.  Breakfast is my favorite, you can't go wrong with the ham and eggs, the slice of ham is large old fashioned type with the bone in the center.  Lunch is also pleasant with large serving, home fries with a burger is always good.  The prime rib is one of my all time favorites,  whenever I stop for dinner.  The remodel in the last year or so is very nice, fun for the entire family
With pool tables, jukebox and flat screen HDTV all around you can't go wrong.  I've even been there on a Saturday night and they had UFC fights.  The atmosphere is great!  The owner Gordon is a very nice guy, he seems to enjoy living in High Sierras.  He knows a lot about the region and fishing, if you want to find a good fishing hole just ask him. I highly recommend this place.

FIRST AVOID THIS SHITHOLE! I was up in Bridgeport for training at the Marine base up there. On the way back down to San Diego, the 4 of us stopped to get some breakfast. After we had ordered, I asked the waitress, (a very elderly woman) if we could split the bill. Her response, "No because I already wrote it down"! My response, "Ok, I just thought that if I tell you what we wanted, you would do it for us, thanks anyways". Anyways, the drinks come and I get a weird feeling that I shouldn't drink mine. So I don't. The food comes and right on top of my breakfast sandwhich, was some guys pubic hair. I told the waitress that there were pubes on top of my food, and she said, "the cook is bald". I said, " Not from his head you old dust bag, I'm talking about from his balls!" She said,"So you don't want it?". I got up and left the resturant, while my 3 buddies ate their food, finding all sorts of hairs in there. I looked in my cup and saw some unidentifiable white things floating in there. I wish I could've called health inspectors to shut that pathetic place down but there isn't any good cell phone service in that BUMF*** town!! AVOID AVOID AVOID

**Sigh** where do i start? The complete and udder rudeness, ignorance and dis-concern of the bartender, (I think his name is Gordie, but he looks like slingblade) or the stale, stomach upsetting, distasteful "flavors" and texture of their food? I wish the star rating was was divisible in quarters, because 1 star is really giving this trashy joint TOO much credit. I have been in here on a few occasions, mostly at the entertainment and requests of others. I remember, specifically, one time, there was a "special", if you will, on a steak dinner. $8.95 I believe it was. Well, I was in there with a party of about seven, including children. The "special" only applies to patrons who sit at the bar!!!!! Now who the HELL promotes a special, and is discriminate about who can and can't order it!?! To hell if my 10 year old ( who obviously is too young to sit at the bar) wants steak; he's dishing out full price!!! Is the bartender THAT desperate to engage in attitude filled, stale, short, one-lined conversations? Yes... On a separate occasion, I went in with my party, and had no choice BUT to sit at the tables.. Waitresses NOWHERE to be found, so I thought I would order a cocktail at the bar, like any other bar & grille/brewpub goer would do... I ask for a cocktail, and my response? "NO! SIT DOWN AND ORDER IT FROM YOUR WAITRESS!"....After that, I had just had it. Horrible environment, despicable service, and a staff that just flat out don't give 2 shits about their patrons. If you're going to eat on Main street, Bridgeport, at a Bar and Grille,  I HIGHLY suggest "J's on the corner", (ALL the food is GREAT, AND they cater to childrens. The prime rib on Friday nights is among the best Ive EVER crammed in my piehole) where you will encounter the COMPLETE opposite, from THIS trashy dump.

Stopped here on two occasions.  First time - got a really upset stomach, and I figured it was just fatigue, as I had been out on along backpacking trip. Sooooo I decided to give this place another chance as I was feeling good.  Boy, wrong move.  In the middle of my breakfast I had to run to the restroom and promptly threw up.   This place will poison ya!!!

This place turned out to be a nice stop along our route heading out to Bodie. We both had turkey dishes: hot turkey sandwich with dressing and mashed potatoes, and the turkey melt sandwich with fries. The server was really nice and made some small talk with us, and was attentive and available. I would stop here again on another trip through this area.

Just for the record, I did not see any sportsmen in the restaurant or at the bar while we were there.
