so, the only good thing about this bar; Carl the bartender. everything else kind of sucked. drink prices are too high for how lame the atmosphere is. the karaoke DJ plays favorites with the regulars which is NOT a way to get new customers and gain business.... dummy. basically as soon as it got slightly busy the service stopped and i had to wait forever to get another drink- which as soon as carl saw me waiting he rushed to help me out. i dont know the other bartenders names because they didnt tell me.... so... just an OK place. if you go, as for Carl and he'll make you laugh and make your drink nice and fast.
Review Source:It's Saturday night and I really wanted to sing.... and I think I found my new watering hole.
The good:
~ nice big place. Cool dj. Nice drink specials (so my date said). Not my usual divey kinda bar. Very nice place.
- our server ROCKED!! Promise next time we wont eat before - s
The bad ~ Smoking. Here is the funny.... All of my karaoke friends smoke.. and we join them (like I always say, I will get my cancer the old fashioned way... steal it from secondhand smoke... LOL)
Next time (...and yes it will be a next time), we will try the food (it looked kinda delicious)
So... I will stock up on febreeze... change clothes and shower on returning home BUT go here as much as I can....
PS - if you have a phone..... pull the wireless options (hopefully the pancake reference is still there!! LOL)
I like that there's screens in the bar that have the name of the next song that's coming up and how long it will be until it starts. The set up of the bar is great and the staff are friendly. I also noticed that thy have great specials during the week that will likely bring me back again.
Review Source:This place will kill you. It is a smoke pit. So bad that I had to leave due to breathing issues.  Mechanical bull in the back will give you some amusement. Almost guaranteed to see numerous drunk idiots on it and  a female bigger than the bull getting tossed off it. The bull shakes and so does this 250 plus beast, I felt sorry for the bull.  Crowd is annoying, drunk morons over served, cussing and fighting in the parking lot.  This is a guarantee on the weekend.  Drive a few extra minutes and go elsewhere. North Austin is right around the corner. I will never return unless I am looking for a trailer park girl to take home. If that's what you want, this is your place.
Oh ya, this place has karaoke.............love me some karaoke Country, NOT.
The place advertises karaoke starting at 9PM every night on their web site, but when we walked in last night there was a strange mix of rap music and country playing and no karaoke going on until around 10:00. Â The place just seemed dead, with a few people there watching sports, a couple others playing pool, and not much else going on. Â With it not being very busy, you would think that the bartender could offer decent service, but she was too preoccupied playing on her laptop at the end of the bar. Â If you wanted to order a drink or food you had to go get her attention and ask for it. Â Once the karaoke started (an hour late) they didn't even have the words on any of the screens visible to the audience so you could follow along if you wanted to. Â One other important note is that they allow smoking inside the bar. Â Which may be a plus for some or a negative depending on if you smoke or not. Â
The place is full of potential, with a lot of space, two pool tables, a mechanical bull, dart boards, and decent pub food. Â But between the extremely poor service and lack of actually starting the karaoke on time, we won't be coming back.
This is one of my favorite places to be, any night of the week. Â Whether you want to sing karaoke or not, the environment is always fun and you're sure to be entertained by the people singing, or the people riding the mechanical bull. Â Bar staff is always friendly, as is the cocktail waitress(es). Â Drinks and shots are ready fast. Â The place gets pretty crowded on friday and saturday, so if you want a seat, get there early folks! Â Only downfall would be that it's a smoke-friendly bar. Â But, Cedar Park isn't Austin and its catering to the smokers out there. Â They do have fans that pull up the smoke, so that helps! Â Great place to go with a group of friends for a good time. Â Oh, and the bar grub isn't too shabby either! I love their fries! Tues night ladies night has great drinks specials too!
Review Source:I have been going to spotlight karaoke since 2009 and it is by far my favorite spot in Texas and I've been to a lot of them. Â I would consider this my home bar simply because the staff are very friendly and go out of their way to make accommodations to large parties/groups. Â I always see the owners walking around, shaking hands with patrons and spend a little time with everyone to see how their night is going, never have I seen this before. Â
The bar food is excellent! Â I have always been reluctant to order food at bars because of previous experiences but I would go there for a bite to eat any day. Â One of the best cheeseburgers I've ever had. Â
On busy nights it can take a little bit to order drinks as the bartenders are roaming around taking every one's orders but i have no problem walking up to the bar and ordering, never more than a 3-5 minute wait to get whatever I need. Â Great bar tending staff who are polite, funny and make ya feel welcome.
I can't say enough about the security and other staff members who always make ya feel protected if some drunk person gets a little out of hand. Â I have seen them calmly asses problems without having to throw their weight around thinking like their superman, compared to downtown bars.
Best thing about this bar is the karaoke! Â You will find top notch performers ready to put on a show every night. Â The selection of music is always growing and changes are whatever you want to sing is available. Â Great rotation even on busier nights, so expect to sing anywhere between 3-4 songs on medium nights, 2 songs if it is packed. Â Awesome sound system and lighting makes for a really fun environment.
Overall one of the best spots you can find in Austin and I hope ya check it out. Â You can smoke inside which can hinder some from trying it out but there is a well ventilated system so the smoke doesn't stay stagnant like a small poker room. Â Spotlight also has live band nights so check the schedule before going down if you are wanting to sing.
I love my Spotlight! It's close to home for me, love to do my Sublime karaoke, and have gotten to know the DJs and bartenders. Love the fact they knocked out a wall and opened it up with more space. Great drink prices and always friendly service and great wait staff. I always have a blast at spotlight, I enjoy doing karaoke, see the bands on every other Friday, or just hang out with a close friend and play some Golden Tee, check it out, its a great place in Cedar Park, wish there was more entertainment out here, but this will work. Next door is Shooters, so if you need a break from the singing head next door, but always come back. 5 stars baby!
Review Source:Decided to check this place out. Â There is inside smoking so be prepared to come out smelling like smoke. Â Everyone had a great time singing karaoke and there didn't seem to be any dead time without anyone singing. Â The best part was the bull they have to ride. Â It looked like lots of fun but I didn't try it. Â Not many people on the bull when I first got there but as the night went on there was many people riding it.
Review Source:This is a fun bar but the smoke is so overwhelming that I can't enjoy it for long. Â By the time karaoke starts the smoke makes me hoarse. Â If this bar were non-smoking I would go much more often. Â I am curious why they dedicated 25% of the space in the bar to a mechanical bull. Â Yeah, they are cool and all but as packed as this place is they could just use the table space so people aren't crawling on each other.
Review Source:I came here this past weekend and had a great time! Â The place was packed from the time we walked in (about 10pm) till the time we left (about 12.30am). Â However, we were able to claim our table easily for our big group. Karaoke started about 10.30pm, and they had the books with all of the songs available for singing and little forms to fill out. Â It was pretty cool that once you turn in your songs, you didn't have to wait a very very long time to get called up. Â The song selections they had were pretty awesome. Â The book was listed by artists so be sure you know the artist that sings the song you are interested in. Â The stage has 2 microphones and 2 seats if you wanted to sit, but was big enough to dance and put on a show if you wanted to! Â Â There was a tv in front of you for the words, but also you can look to the bar where there was also a screen with the words.
Drinks were pretty affordable and cheap. Â Even on a Saturday night they had drink specials. Â The only downside of the place was that it was outside of Austin city limits, so smoking in the bar was allowed. Â It took me awhile to get rid of that smokey smell from my hair and clothes....
