A bar in a college town on Saturday night usually means a couple of things: deals on cheap liquor/beer, a bunch of rowdy college kids using up mom and dad's money on PBR and well booze, no glassware since it costs too much to replace broken pint glasses. Martin doesn't have too many drink establishments so I was surprised that the college bar here had only 2 of those 3.
It wasn't a happy surprise, it was dead on Halloween weekend with more staff than customers (me and my UT alum friend.) The staff even got change out to play something on the jukebox just so there would be something in the background other than the uncomfortable silence of an empty bar-kind of like being in a tomb but with a CD jukebox. Their 'craft beers' were a lot of Shocktop but they did also sell Fat Tire for $3, not bad but it was given to me in a Solo cup, something I don't miss about college drinking. I've been told that it livens up later in the evening but it didn't make me want to stick around to find out.
