Do not let the creepy mannequin in the photo for this place fool you. Â Stagecoach Deli is really, really good and not even remotely creepy. Â I stopped here with some coworkers on our way from east Texas back to Austin and from the moment we walked in the door I fell in love with this place. Â It oozes quintessential tiny town Texas charm. Â The front room with the stagecoach motif was packed with what looked like regular customers so we were seated in the tea room in back, which was adorable. Â The hostess who greeted us was also our waitress and she was incredibly warm and friendly. Â I think the most surprising thing on the menu was a vegan burger since vegan food is not something I tend to associate with restaurants like this, but there it was. Â I ended up ordering a combination plate of half a sandwich and salad as well as a cup of soup. Â The sandwich was "Belle's Chicken Salad" and it was delicious as was the "Orient Express Salad" it came with. Â The cup of chicken and dumpling soup was also divine. Â My coworkers were likewise pleased with their food, from the cheddar broccoli soup to the loaded baked potato. Â The entrees were so good that we went ahead and ordered dessert to split at the table. Â We got a brownie a la mode, a peach cobbler, and our gluten-intolerant coworker ordered a scoop of Bluebell ice cream with chocolate syrup. Â The brownie was HUGE and came with whipped cream as well as ice cream, but the peach cobble stole the show. Â It was served in an adorable mini-loaf pan and it was gooey, warm, buttery, and sweet. Â Everyone who tried it said it was some of the best peach cobbler they'd ever had, if not THE best. Â The cobbler is what bumped this review up from a solid 4-star to a glowing 5-star review. Â Also, the food here is CHEAP. Â For all the food we ordered for four people, plus dessert, we ended up paying approximately $10 per person. Â If it was within my power, I would teleport this gem of a restaurant closer to Austin so I could eat there regularly. Â I will have dreams about that cobbler.
