  The Gonzalez offers a great local flavor of S. Texas with a lot of charm and hospitality in a well laid out of plan for enjoying the food with family and friends.
  
  We were served water and chips quickly upon being seated, and, the menu was very extensive with Tex-Mex dishes.  We have a few people, so, there were several entrees ordered, and, they all were presented nicely, and looked very appealing.  The wait staff was friendly, and, checked back frequently to fill water and tea glasses, and, to see if we needed anything else.
  
  We enjoyed meeting some friends; the table space was excellent, with no seating too close so conversations could be heard easily.  The interior was decorated with some great historical places, and, it even had a nice bench outside for waiting.  All in all, Start of Texas Restaurant is a very unique South Texas location to visit when traveling U.S. Hwy 281.
