The drink prices are reasonable, I will give them that, but the patrons and management are downright hostile. The bar tender heckled me for the way I drank my beer and the patrons clearly didn't care for anyone that wasn't a regular.
The cleanliness of this dive is atrocious. I actually found cat shit in the corner from the local stray that they allow to wander around.
The bartender serving when I was there clearly had no training and boasts a limited watered down drink selection.
The only redeeming factor of this place is the extremely cheap whiskey based drinks. Would not recommend.
I really wanted to find a bar that was different than the usual bars I go to downtown. My friend told me about The Sterling Cat and how it's excellent scotch selection, so I thought I would try it out.
They have 10+ varieties of great scotch and also a decent cocktail menu. We went on Sunday when the bar had a Game of Thrones and Mad Men viewing. The crowd was younger, but not the usual SLO college crowd.
All in all, I like this bar alot because of its cool, below the radar atmosphere and its prices.
