Stopped here on the drive from LA to Tahoe. Â It was the perfect place to grab a real breakfast sandwich made with real eggs, cheese and meat - which can be a tall order when traveling through the fast food wasteland of freeway driving. Â My only gripe is that there weren't any donuts there at 7AM on a weekday morning, so that was a disappointment. Â Definitely a good stop to make for breakfast between LA and Bishop, though.
Review Source:This place is AWESOME. You step in and forget you're in Mojave. The staff are great - I love when the person making sandwiches can't help but come over and tell you how much they love their own favorite sandwich. You can tell when you're at a restaurant where the people love food in general, because the food they make for others is the way they would make it for themselves. Perfect.
I can vouch for the reubens and the grilled pastrami sandwiches. There is not one item in these sandwiches that is a second thought or cheaped out on. The bread is fresh baked and tasty - not gross wonderbread but the real deal rye, sourdough and french. The meat cuts they use are not an afterthought either like at other delis. The staff will even recommend their favorites, tell you the brand and how it was cooked. I love this.
Their shop is adorable, their staff is super friendly, and the food of course is wonderful. Ask for your sandwich To Go and you will receive a neatly packaged plate that will not leak on the seat next to you in the car.
Great little place! Super friendly staff! We arrived a little before noon and they were already out of today's donuts, but tried a few day old and they were delicious. We also tried the Reuben and Tuna sandwiches and they were both very good--so large we could've shared. The old schoolhouse is really cute. Refreshing change from fast food.
Review Source:OH my goodness, I can't believe I haven't written a review of this place yet!
I used to go here quite a bit since it is close for work, if I weren't trying to be healthier and bring my lunches I would eat here about every other day.
We also use them to cater for lunches at work and they handle large volume orders pretty well with a day's notice.
They are a small mom and pop establishment that is a very nice change from other chain restaurant establishments in town. The prices might be a little higher but you get a much better sandwich than another sandwich shop that is right next to them, and you are supporting a local business to boot. They have daily specials which includes soups that are pretty good, the only one I have not been a huge fan of is the buffalo chicken soup but that is just me.
They have a good selection of doughnuts, probably better to go earlier in the day of course and their breakfast sandwiches are really good as well (they open super early at like 5am I believe)...they also have biscuits and gravy which the guys at my job tell me is a winner, especially with an over easy egg on top in case the biscuits and gravy by themselves needed to be a little unhealthier.
And if the food doesn't fill you up for whatever reason they also have ice cream, which they can also make into shakes or malts!
And no, I am not getting anything free for writing this review...I just want them to stay in business and people to park in front of here instead of the generic pit stop spot to get their lunches as they are driving through Mojave.
So-so chocolate donuts, excellent glazed.
Breakfast sandwiches, sandwiches, and ice cream apparently available, but we didn't have time to try them.
They have spaceship models hanging from the ceiling! (well, at least one of SpaceShipOne) It *IS* Mojave Spaceport, after all. *grins*
And the price is very reasonable.
Great, simple food. Super friendly service. Its no wonder why it is the fave of all the locals. The make you feel like family even on your first visit.
The donuts are super fresh and delicious. My faves are the old fasioned and chocolate cake.
Great lunch and breasfast sandwiches with a nice array of interesting bottled sodas. From scratch soups and sides at lunch.
The rocket fuel coffee is true to its name. Nice and strong. (thank god)
Finally somewhere to eat in Mojave! I went in thinking that I'd get a donut, but then saw their sandwich offerings and ordered and egg salad sandwich. It was good and way better than the other places that I've tried in Mojave over the years.
Not only that, but as others mention the owner is a great guy and has transformed this old library into a great local eatery.
They also have ice cream and make shakes. This will be a regular stop for me on my way to the desert and Owens Valley.
i don't normally give delis a four-star review, but this place was amazing. i wish they had one down in my hood in la. we were looking at options to subway and fast food on the drive back from mammoth to la and i read a review on yelp - thank goodness. we pulled down belshaw and wow, what a discovery. we hit the jackpot. best tuna sandwich i've ever had. and massive! everyone else tried the chicken/egg salad sammies and everyone was giving me kudos on this local/under the hood discovery. can't wait to go back to mammoth just so we can stop here.
Review Source:Unexpected good find in a small town. Â I has the reuben sandwich and a clam chowder that was phenomenal. The doughnuts and beef brisket sliders were great too. Â Everything tasted like it was made fresh from scratch. The service was great too, very friendly and even gave me a free doughnut.
