If you really want to tell if a place is dirty or just disorganized, visit the restroom. They are clean at Sun Valley, or at least they were when I was there. That gets them two stars.
I think they are just disorganized, and dont really know what they want to be.
The food was, eh. Â I had the Ruben, wife had the Turkey sandwich. Â Her sandwich was ok, but nothing outstanding. Â The ruben had potential, but the bread was somewhat burned.
The beer was really what I came to try. The Cranky IPA is ok. Â But honestly, it wouldn't stand a chance against a really good IPA, say Ballast Point, or Russian River, but not bad. Â It tasted a little stale. Â That floral aroma of hops was totally lacking.
The Scotch Ale was tolerable, if a little wierd. Â Its described as "smoky" and it was that. In fact, all I tasted was smoke.
The Pine Top Pale was horrid. Â It literally tasted stale, like dust. Â It had no other flavor. Â I didn't even drink it, just tasted, and left the rest in the glass.
Not my top pick, considering other options available in the area.
Four of us came in for lunch - we didn't sample the beer. Â Our lunches were great, each ordered a different item. Â Salads were great as were the sandwiches. Â The soup was excellent.
The food was four stars. Â Here's the list that caused me to dock one star. Â First, the carpet needed to be vacuumed and the carpet itself was filthy. Â The carpet on a stair tread was thread-bare and ready to trip a customer. Â The whole interior needs some TLC. There were chairs with vinyl upholstery split, walls needing paint touch up. Â There was an old round tube CRT television in the bar plus stained ceiling tiles (probably from a roof leak). Â The service was slow and there were very few employees working.
Is business bad? Â OR, don't the owners/managers care?
