Stopped here wanting some local flavor and saw the good reviews on here, figured it was worth a try. They have a huge menu with a lot of selections, and everything we had was excellent. They make their own brisket and corned need, etc. in house and it was wonderful. Their chicken soup and chicken chili were also great. Good prices, and fresh food, not greasy. Definitely will visit again on the way up north, and maybe try one of the pizzas, seafood dinners, or the big burrito which sounded great. Worth a try!
Review Source:Read the reviews and went into the restaurant with an open mind. Â Boyfriend had soup and salad bar - delicious split pea soup (other options were chicken noodle and vegetable barley) and the salad bar selections were limited but extremely fresh, crisp and tasty! I had the best fish sandwich I've ever eaten and I've had quite a few over the years. The fish was fried in panko but was not greasy at all. It was served on French bread that was extremely fresh topped with lettuce and tomatoes and served with a side of tartar sauce - yum! Â Boyfriends mom had baked oatmeal (imagine a bread pudding texture) and it was delectable topped with dried cherries! Â We all agreed that the restaurant was pleasantly surprising and we would return without a doubt. Great food. Clean restaurant. Fantastic service.
Review Source:Stopped here on Sunday after reading two reviews. The ambience is pretty casual. I had their soup and sandwich special with Chicken White Bean Chili, which was very good along with 1/2 of their Roasted Turkey Melt sandwich that was very good. It included turkey grilled on sourdough with melted swiss, tomatoes and their signature bleu cheese dressing. Stopped the following day on the way back through and ordered the same deal only with the Grilled. I had called ahead and it was ready when I arrived, about 15 minutes later.
Their menu is very interesting with a combination of fish, chicken and American dishes. Lots of pies and desserts but I was too full to enjoy any of those. A nice hidden gem!
Sign says, "Trout Town Country Cafe."
Looking at the outside, I thought it might be too heavy for food, but it was excellent.
Had chicken soup and 1/2 reuben. Best chicken soup I've had in at least 10 years. A little soggy bread from a soup spill but I didn't mind, surprisingly.
Great service, too!
Now the Trout Town Country Cafe. It is a great little family restaurant, and I do mean little; it tends to be crowded at mealtimes. They serve American fare; burgers, sandwiches, egg-and-meat breakfasts, dinners of various kinds. They emphasize "Granny's Homemade Pies," although I didn't try one.
I had a wrap sandwich which was excellent. I've had other meals here before and always enjoyed them.
