For a lunch spot or pre/post movie meal this place cannot be beat.  The food is great and the service is amazing.  If I remember correctly, they give you a discount if you have a movie ticket too (I think).  We went before a movie and the server was kind enough to offer to hold our leftovers in the fridge until we got out. This place was great!

Came here for the first time a few weekends ago for my friend's BDay.  The place wasn't crowded for it being St. Patrick's weekend. Drink prices are average and for once, my friend found someone that knew how to make Scooby Snack (like the one from DnB). Unfortunately I didn't try it, so I can't compare.

*Music - Good enough for my taste
    *Cover - $5
    *Restroom - 2 Stalls

I may come back here if my friends decide to come again and when I'm in town. :)

Fun but baaadd music. Too much house not enough hip hop. Drink prices have creeped up and they never use their back bar. Still fun though.

Ehh.... for Thousand Oaks this place has a pretty trashy crowd and weird looking go go dancers. It's laughable that they would even think to charge a cover to this place. There are similar venues in Westlake and Agoura that would be much better if you feel like going to a club-like place in the area.

Really good music and great location.

Lots of good vibes and a pretty attractive crowd too. Some of them a bit too rowdy with the ladies- but that's found everywhere. I like the way the bar is set up, and god damn are those dancing girls up there gorgeous- sometimes I found myself pausing to watch them- so mesmerized  haha.

A nice place but I don't think it's worth a cover...when comparing it to other places I've been. This one isn't amazing enough to pay to get into- Bogie's is just down the street.

I'll definitely come back one day, and get on a guest list of course.  I might also be doing a bit of pregaming on account of their drinks being a bit too overpriced for the quality.

This one's a like though for sure  I appreciate good music to dance to and nice staff too :)

Was better when Jason ran the place.
His presence, energy and dedication is gone,, and the character and quality sufferers.
    Note:
Restaurant manager sends threating messages under phony names to anyone who complains about Sunset Terrace on Yelp.
This says it all about the character of the management.

I can't believe I didn't know this place was here.  I went on a random Thursday afternoon for lunch.  We ordered many differnet kinds of food ranging from a burger ( honestly the BEST I've ever had, bun made in house) to pasta to hummus.  I thought for sure one of the dishes would have to be bad, no one could possiably do it ALL great but I was wrong it was an amazing meal with superior service. And, priced extrememly well.  I'm going to reccommend to everyone I know!

It's like a trendy restaurant that isn't really trendy. Beware they'll charge you a $10 cover charge on fight nights... even if you're not there to see the fight. Really $10 charge to pay you more money for dinner.

... Thanks I think I'll go somewhere else.

I had dinner here with my family on Sunday-- yesterday. The children had the kid's pizza and Cesar salad; I had their salmon sushi roll. For starters we enjoyed their steamed shrimp with house marinara and alfredo cream sauce and their fresh bruschetta. The starters paired with a glass of red-zin, were just mucho delicioso...muah! Our dessert was their very creamy and delicate crème bruleé protected by a thin crisp layer of sugar torched to perfection--topped with fresh strawberries, sprinkled with powder sugar. Excellent meal!

This review is for the nightlife, not the restaurant.

So, first of all, Sunset Terrace is a restaurant turned bar at night in a shopping center.  A shopping center, a mall, in Thousand Oaks.   Now, when waiting in line (to get into a bar in a shopping center in Thousand Oaks) a perspective patron ahead of me was turned down because they didn't have a collared button down shirt.  He was wearing a polo shirt.  Seriously.  You can't wear a polo shirt to a restaurant in a mall if it's after 11pm.

Inside, a go-go girl or two, dance floor playing Top 40 hits, many that are impossible to dance to, a bar with lame bartenders that were hard to get a drink from even by waving money in their face (maybe I should have gone to a strip club instead).

You can't play hard to get when you're a restaurant in Thousand Oaks pretending to be a Hollywood bar.  I can see why this place is empty half the time.

Overall, I would give this place an A-OK because of location. If you got an hour to blow before the movie time starts, you can chill out here. We were waiting for the 4th of July fireworks (which didn't start till 9 PM!) so I chowed down some food.

I loved the sweet potato fries. In fact, don't get them because you WILL eat them all.

The California rolls were terrifying. I don't know what they were, but they weren't california rolls. But I wouldn't go to a place like this and order sushi.

    The bruscetta was OK. Standard.

Overall, I wouldn't go here for the food, I'd go here to kill some time.

So I was at the Janns Marketplace awaiting the July 4th fireworks and needs a place to wait and eat and thus I decided to give this place a try.  I was a little hesitant since I was with my kids and mostly what I heard about this place was it was a clubby dive (cheese cover charge and all).  However during the day there is no cover (as if anyone would pay to eat here) and its more restaurant then club.  The dinning area is also separate from the bar/club so it looked ok.

I did notice that the alcoholic beverages were all large and not overly priced.  The food was also not overly priced for the typical kind of american fair they served.  Note, avoid the sushi as it tastes weird (my son has a thing for California rolls lol).  Anyways I got the chicken and brie sandwich and the brie was so fake and chemically it killed the taste of the food.  The sweet potato fries were ok but the insides where like the insides of a twice baked potato.  The bread they serve is decent and the Ceasar salad good.  BUT the chicken in the sandwich and the salad and as a side is all the same and a bit over processed and overcooked.

The waitstaff is a bit light on attention and our food took forever to come out (no it was not busy) and it came out in large groups ie not together.  The manager is off as well.  At one point he actually has giving a waiter a hard time about getting some condiments (hot sauce I think) off a table even though the table was still eating.  The real reason I mention this is I have noticed a growing lack of tact of many managers/owners have when it comes to there staff and the customers who are right there listening to them bitch out their waitstaff.  No a pleasant environment to eat in.

Overall I had a vision that this place ought to be in on of those TV shows where some dude  who knows what he is doing comes in to save a dying restaurant (Restaurant Impossible????)  I have a feeling that without a liquor license this place would close in about 2 weeks.

The fact that this dump has a cover charge is just absurd. Awhile ago, there wasn't a cover charge for anyone. Then they progressed to a $5 charge for guys and now I am pretty sure its $10 for guys and $5 for girls. What a bunch of stingy a*****es! This place makes PLENTY of money at the bar on the weekends yet they find the need to charge people just to get in? This is the only bar I have been to where there is a cover charge and I have been to a good amount of places in Ventura County and in the Los Angeles area. The only reason I give it 2 stars is because I have had some good memories at this place with some good people. Regardless though, it wasn't the venue that provided me with the good experience, it was the people I was with.

Please people; don't give your money to this place!!! Maybe if the amount of people that go drastically decreases, they will eliminate those cover charges altogether!

I think I got ripped off, it was a $10 cover charge for girls. The place wasn't even half full at 10pm on a Saturday night. There's a very slight dress code, but generally pretty casual with mixed crowds. Go-go dancers were okay. My friend emailed them asking about birthday tables and never got a reply. If you're going to list an email, you should be checking it on a daily basis.

Not sure I'd come back and definitely wouldn't exactly recommend as a go to spot. Most of the people who go here though are super limited on choices, so even with 2 stars, people will still go back here and I may have to too at some point. Warning, beware of creepers.

Came here for a birthday of a friend's friend on Saturday and it was interesting, fantastic song selection, the play list was full of stuff from the late 90s and early 00s.
There were a couple of pretty hot go go dancers which is always good times. I stuck to vodka crans which were only $7 not too bad. The crowd was all over the place, young, old, hot, not so hot, and random. This place is connected to mall so there is plenty of parking. ***When this place turns into a club at night they have a $5 charge at the door, will probably never go back, because I live so far, but if I lived near here I would hit it up.

    -2.5 stars-

As far as late night and dancing, Sunset Terrace is pretty good.  I've only been there twice, and I had a good time.  We got there around 11 the first time and it was pretty crowded.  The second time we got there arond 9 and it was empty, so we found a table quickly.  Around 11 is when everyone starts to move to the dance floor, probably because thats when they are all liquored up and feeling confident in their dancing skills...

The layout of Sunset was kind of confusing at first, probably because it was dark and we had no clue where we were going.  The floor gets kind of sticky as the night goes on, only because people take their drinks with them when they dance, and spill everywhere...

I haven't tried their food, but a couple friends got food poisoning from it, so I probably won't be eating there anytime soon.

Cover Charge starts at 6PM: $5.

Otherwise, have a good time :)

I thought this place was a joke at first.  I've got to be honest!  A bar & lounge...in the JANSS MALL?!?!
We had a coupon so we figured we'd give it a try and I'm so glad we did!  Last night was our 2nd night back and it's now considered to be one of our favorite places to eat.  Both times we sat in private booths in the lounge area which was super chill but still felt more social than sitting in the more quiet, affluent part of the restaurant.
Service is A++++ BOTH times we've been.
The BREAD!  It's to die for!  Seriously!!!
The fries are amazing, twice baked potatoes are absolutely delish and the filet mignon with whatever sauce it has and blue cheese on top is not only mouth watering delicious, it's VERY affordable!
I'm telling you - if you haven't been her to dine then it's a must!!

PS - Mimi, I didn't know their desserts were amazing so I'll have to order one of those babies next time!

If you are hungry or thirsty DO NOT COME HERE TONIGHT.  One of the worst managed UFC nights I've ever witnessed.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAND ... after an hour at a PACKED restaurant we got fantastic service.  The food was decent, they had Arrogant Bastard on tap (yessss!) and the service was great.  For being packed with a bunch drunken, rude twits the service was seriously an A.  It just took them a while to find us is all.

I was here for a birthday party for a friend of mine. Its pretty casual and YOUNG.  If you are currently in your 20's or in college,...this would be a perfect place for you to hang and dance. Its casual so don't get too dressed up. The music is pretty standard....what you hear on the radio is what you will end up hearing here.

The only downside is the location. Its in the mall next to Golds Gym.  Well you can't complain, you are pretty much in Butt F*ck Egypt.  Beggars can't be choosers.

I came here last night to celebrate my cousin's birthday. She goes here almost every weekend and the people here know her quite well so it was extra cool to go there.

As I was waiting to get in for our reserved area, I was asked to put away my zip up sweater since it was cold outside. So I had to go back to my car. As we walked in, I saw a long list of things to not wear. Some of it was no plain white shirts, bandanas, certain tattoos?, sandals, etc.

However as I was in there, I saw several people with sweatshirts on and plain white shirts. If you are going to enforce the rules, do it with everyone.

Once you walk in, it has a small area for a restaurant but go further back, they have a large bar area with nice seating, dance area and tv's all over.

My cousin had a reserved area right next to the dance floor. The real odd thing is that all the special areas are surrounded by railings that look like cages. They are about waist high but we were boxed in by a mini fence.

More odd, the DJ was on the second level above everyone else in his little cage. Apparently he was a video DJ. he plays the music with the videos then mixes in other videos. Since I do not go to many clubs I thought it was kind of neat. His music selection was quite varied going from Journey to Lady Gaga.

As it got later, the place was getting real crowded. I saw people of several ages ranging from early 20's to maybe 40's? I don't know about pricing of drinks since I was DD.

Overall, it was a decent place, nice size and didn't get too hot inside. Go Go dancers stuck out a little and they looked like they were getting tired after a few hours of doing the same moves over again.

    (club only)

I have fun because I'm with my friends, but otherwise I don't prefer to go to this place for the following reasons... (with some pros)

-The DJ has ADD with his mixes
-the go-go dancers seem out of place and though they don't belong in a place like this.
-pricing for drinks are not bad
-parking, there's plenty but be careful. My cousin's bf got his car keyed here
-be careful with tattoos especially you guys, if it looks "fishy" they won't let you in.
-guys don't wear any jackets with hoods
-upside: no cover, they expanded the place- thank goodness!
-don't risk drinking and driving especially with cops all over
-close to jack n the box and dennys
-don't like the mix of the crowd- ciscos is better
    -plenty of seating
    -plenty of parking
    -outside should be expanded

I've been going to Sunset for about a year now, and was actually there this past weekend with my girlfriends and I spent New Years eve here and it was a blastttt!  I always have a great time and the place is huge after the expansion. There is a hugeeee bar, always packed and a big dance floor, also ALWAYS packed. My kinda music with great variety! The dancers are hot, haha. Get there kinda early, because the place fills up FAST! other wise plan on waiting in a line, not sure if they have a cover I've never had to pay, so sorry guys!!

Although ive never actually eaten here sober, I dont think, so i cant really comment on the food, but its always been delicious drunk :)

This place use to be crammed and uncomfortable with way too many desperate cougars. Needless to say it was pretty lame.

Now that the place has expanded and they added a huge bar & more seating it's actually really nice now. The party doesn't really start til 9:30/10.
    -No cover fee.
-To get a booth/seating area you need reservations & I'm pretty sure they are free.
-To reserve the upstairs it's a minimum of 20 people & bottle service is required.
-If you had a waitress FIND her to close your tab, that can be a pain!
-$11 drinks but they are HUGE.

There's a good mix of music and a bigger dance floor. There's outdoor seating too but it can be pretty crowded. The parking is free & in a parking garage. Needless to say this place is pretty bumpin on a Friday/Saturday night. Not bad for a place with no cover & good music!

Monday: Margarita Mondays. You can get a fishbowl larger than your head for 10$
Tuesday: Mai Tai Tuesday. You can get a fishbowl larger than your head for 10$

Don't bother coming here on Wednesdays, Thursdays or Sundays. Trust me.

    Friday & Saturday:
Sunset Terrance recently expanded so now they have 2 full service bars. There is a decent sized dance floor area and there are places to lounge or get bottle service. On the weekends they have go-go dancers that are actually attractive. The drinks are fairly priced and usually the bartenders don't cheat you. They serve food pretty late and it's tastes pretty good. I recommend the pizza and artichoke dip. Sunset also serves sushi, but if you know what good sushi is supposed to taste like, don't order it here. Sunset has a wrap-around patio with heat lamps and plenty of seating.

Many people that come here are regulars. If you come here too often, you get sick of it, but it's definitely a fun place- especially if you're drinking! ;)

I have only been here during their night / club hours. I must tell you, this place definitely gets packed at night and its funny because it's basically always a highschool reunion - which is ok, esp after a few drinks.

Drinks are priced well. I always get Newcastle on tap, I think it costs something like $5 or $6 for 22oz. Dance floor is always ridiculously crowded, music is ok. I usually find myself spending most my time on the patio just shootin the ish.

Not bad for a place that doesnt do cover... or at least I think they dont - Really dont remember gotta not drink so much

Went to Janss for an event in the food court. I noticed that we could have a full view of the event from the porch of Sunset Terrace.

So I ordered some beers and my BF and I enjoyed our $2.00 Coors Lights (Happy Hour) on thier porch watching the event.  It was much better than sitting outside their porch NOT drinking a beer. Cheers!

I love this place! This place is awesome!  Food is pretty good.  I order a salmon salad and the plate is freaken huge.  =) Decent price...=)

I went here for my best girlfriend birthday. Make reservation ahead of time and we didn't had to wait when we got there.  The waitress are pretty cool and nice!  Afterward, we hit the dance floor! =) Yes, there is a dance floor.  It turned into a nightclub at night.  The only thing I didn't like was that the dance floor was kind of small. Other than that, great music and mixed crowd! =0)

Ick.  Although I am interested to see what the local DJ has to offer - I will not eat here again.

I feel bad saying that, since the owner (I hear) is local... but then again, I have to be honest.

The food was horrible - I left my salad over, the chicken was pinkish inside - the sushi could have been bought at the local grocery store (and probably was).

The service was slow, I finished one iced tea and got my refill by the time we payed the check.

The only redeeming bit was the sliders.... arg.

That being said, huge potential and and even huger let down.

Whaaat? Sunset Terrace is a restaurant?

Anyways, my only experience with this place was showing up at 12:45 AM to say hi to a couple of friends that had been there for quite a while, lounging, drinking, and dancing a little bit.  Seeing that my late-coming would render me the most sober of my party, it was kind of a drag.

At least there was no strict dress code.  I had no idea this was the kind of place that involved loud obnoxious music and people in their early 20's trying to catch some tail (geez listen how old I sound, "catch some tail").  I was immediately over the whole thing the moment I stepped in.

But that's not to take away from what ST attempts to be at night.  In all aspects, it achieves to accomodate the college senior or early professional looking to let out some weekday blues via double fisting some beers and dancing with their hired go-go dancers (I mean, what the heck is this place?).  They've also fenced off some of Janss Marketplace to allow for some outdoor maxin', relaxin', and smokin' some Marlie Lights.

As Murtaugh would say, I'm too old for this shit.  At least that's what it feels like when you're sober as a bird and your whole party is warmed up and ready to bust a move to the deejay's sometimes-awesome, mostly-bogus mix.  I also heard a couple "Filipino-oriented" (teehee) racial slurs passive-aggresively shouted in our direction from a trio of inebriated, ethnically-challenged, button up-clad young men who were jealous of some of my party's huevos, since they were confident enough to strike an interest in a couple of girls that said button-up trio were FAIL in terms of confidence.

Was I offended? Well, I'd have to say it's never cool to hate, evAR.  But I think that at that point in the wee hours of the night, if anyone in our party were to talk the business with those gentlemen, it wouldn't have escalated to anything more than a verbal altercation that would eventually fizzle.

Cool place at night, that Sunset Terrace is.  Not for me, but cool for that particular scene.

Sunset Terrace has potential. The menu has lots of choices, and the place itself has a different vibe depending on where one sits.

At the bar, it's pretty much like any other bar that has drinks and LOUD television. Outside seating provides a view of the constant parade of Narcissists to and from the nearby Gold's Gym. Inside the front door is the main dining area. In the back is a kind of "sports bar". Here and there are semi-private booths.

The food is pretty good, and the bartenders give righteous pours, but the service is consistently s-l-o-w. No, I mean S-L-O-W. Our waitress last night was hard to find, too. When we were able to flag her down, she seemed impatient with our requests. Some people in the service industry just don't get it.

I have often brought my date here after a movie (despite the S-L-O-W service), and have never seen a fight. Bummer! I like a floor show. Maybe the fun starts later in the evening....

I am biased.  I know the owner and his family and I love supporting local owned restaurants.

This restaurant actually happens to be a pretty decent restaurant with a cool bar and unpretentious atmosphere.

So what do I enjoy here?

Chicken strips - downright fabulous.  They are hand battered have a good crust, thin strip and come with bbq, mustard and ranch.  Huge portion for an appetizer - basically I get it as an entree.

Terrace burger - hand formed patty.  Huge size, soft bun.  Cooked the way it is ordered (medium rare for me).  Just a darn good burger.

They have TONS of offerings - from salads, pasta and steaks.  They even have bento boxes (bento boxes are decent, but I'd say stick to the other fare though).

Now the bar?  Awesome.  Has couch loungy type areas, mini booths for a little romance and big screens.  You can be a VIP if you want to or just stroll right in.  There are really only covers when they have a UFC fight (WHICH GETS PACKED!!!) or boxing matches.  They have a million type of drinks which are all fab and I love one of their bartenders, MERRITT.

Manager Tyrone is a great guy.  If there is praise or issues, he's the man to see to address.

    Much love to Sunset Terrace.

I've been here now several times in the past few months, and the best time to go is for happy hour where they offer 50% off drinks and 25% off appetizers. If you can snag a patio seat, you can drink, eat and gawk at all the random mall crawlers going to the food court or the movie theater next door. Friday & Saturday they have a d.j. who is pretty good and keeps a good beat you can dance to.

Overall, a decent place to go after work or whet your club appetite if you can't make it out to Hel-lay.

I give their White Russians 7-painted toes out of ten.

I've been to Sunset Terrace twice and both times my meal was delicious.  The first time I went I had Sea Bass with a lobster sauce...fantastic!  My boyfriend got the prime rib special and that was very good as well.  It was a nice cut with hardly any fat at all.

The second time we went my boyfriend ordered the Sea Bass and the sauce was terribly salty.  They did bring us a free dessert to make up for it but we didn't really want dessert .  I ordered the Salmon Salad...huge!  Served with a nice sized Salmon fillet (it was pan fried, next time I'd ask them to grill or poach it) over a bed of greens and chilled, grilled veggies and a side of balsamic dressing. The salad was so big I only ate half and took the other half home, that's the beauty of getting the dressing on the side.

The free dessert they brought us was grilled pound cake (not a great idea since it gave the pound cake a burnt taste) with vanilla ice cream and fresh strawberries.  The strawberries were the best part, sweet and flavorful!

We get coupons in the mail and have used them both times. Since we usually like to have a few drinks, this helps offset the cost.

Service isn't the speediest but it's bearable, especially if you're out for a nice relaxed night.

We like Sunset Terrace because it's relaxed and we don't have to get all dressed up to have a decent meal.
