First impression. We pass by it all the time and think, "there's a restuarant in that house". We had heard some pretty good things about it. So we get a babysitter and it's date night. We were seated in a room off to the right near the kitchen. This was a small room with way too many tables; it felt very cramped. There was a group of people with two kids, one was a baby who was crying most of the time. We were trying to get away from all that on our night out. Also it was very, very bright. It wasn't until 3/4 through our meal that the waitstaff noticed and turned down the lighting. My wife had a pasta dish that was just okay. I had a ribeye that also was just okay. It was garnished with steamed veggies and a potato mash. Very plain, nothing special. Sure we could have asked to move or to have the lights dimmed, but when you're running a restaurant you should try to "read" your patrons a little better. Our waitress was just okay too. Considering the appearance and the reputation, we were expecting to be wowed, but we weren't.
Review Source:Tonight my friend Bill decided to take me to his hometown in Fallston , NC to see his old home place and have dinner at The Sweezy House. Â Who would have thought one of the most incredible evenings awaited us in such an off the beaten path location? Â Entering the Sweezy house is like stepping back in time. Â It has both the charm and hospitality of an old home and elegance of a nice restaurant. Â You will enjoy reading about the old home and how it survived to become a magical place on the back of your menu.. Â Folks in Fallston are casual so it is a casual place but has touches of elegance with linen tablecloths and napkins, separate dining areas created in existing rooms, complete with their own bakery in back. Â Do not be shy...walk around and get a feel for this place. Â As for the food...like the house it combines southern flavors with elegance complete with surprise specials everyday. Â Our waiter, Johnathon, told me to get the stuffed grouper with flavors that will dance in your mouth. Â I have eaten in some fine restaurants, but I must say this is the most exciting, creative, interesting, knowledgeable waiter I have ever had. Â He mentioned that he could sing so we asked for a song. Â Italian Opera no less with the voice of an angel. Â Oh yes...and the food...like he said...with layers of flavor that will dance in your mouth. Â Everyone enjoyed their entree and every dessert is worthy of your consideration. Â Their salads are remarkable....we will be back soon with 25 of our friends...we already have reservations. Â As we drive through the country to Fallston they will never believe what they are about to experience! Â Enough said ...I will leave things unsaid for you to discover on your own.
