Tailgaters Sports Bar & Grill

I stopped in this bar while passing through Byron. It had a great atmosphere. It's a sports bar, so there is a sports theme on everything from the tables to wall murals. There are a lot of jerseys from Shawn Considine. A local kid that went on to play in the NFL.

The day I was in there they had dollar domestic drafts. You can't beat that price! The bartender was very friendly, answered all of my questions and even chatted with me while it was slow, all the things I like in a bartender! She kept my glass filled and kept checking up on me.

I ordered the Chicken George based on her recommendation with the buffalo sauce to dip it in. These are beer battered chicken strips. She was right, they where very good. I loved them! A friend of mine that was with me ordered the waffle fries and he said they were good too.

If this bar was closer to home, I'd definitely go back more often, as it's a good 45 minute drive it won't be on my standard roster. I will however make sure to stop in the next time I'm passing through.

'Bout time Byron got a real sports bar.  It's been a while since I've been in, but the food's always been good.  If they still have the horseshoe burger and you're up for a Man vs. Food type challege, try it.  It's an openfaced burger w/ built in fries, cheese sauce, etc...  gluttony at its finest.  Service was slow but the couple times I've went were for the opening and subsequently times when waitresses were being trained.
