Went using a coupon that made it a bargain even for a movie beyond first run.  Need to arrive early if ordering food.  Food is ok, not exceptional, and nice to be able to get beer and wine.  Amazingly servers were able to deliver most meals/drinks before the feature began so there  was minimal distraction.
Review Source:People who work here are very nice. Â My friends and I went to this place on Monday. Â We were the only ones in the theater, which was nice for us because we were able to pick any seat and talk loud. Â
I think the ticket price should be cheaper considering the fact that the equipment is pretty old and no stadium seating and people usually order drinks and food in there. Â I don't know if the food is any good here but they have fair amount of items of the menu. Â I just had a sangria watching a movie. Â
It is nice to have a place like this, so that you can have a little different movie theater experience with meal and alcohol.
So, it's been approximately 20 years since I've been here. Â It doesn't appear to have changed a bit.
Don't get me wrong, I didn't expect much. Â At all.
But it wasn't even as bad as my low expectations....it was worse.
And, that's really too bad because it's such a cool concept and unless you're willing to spend literally 4-5 times as much to do it Hyde Park style (CineBistro), I hate to say it, but I don't know that I want to go back.
They renovated since I had been there last? Â When you first walk into the first set of doors after buying your tickets, the tiny entry way before the next set of doors makes you feel like you are entering a classy place....but then as soon as you open the next set of doors into the lounge, it's more of a sports bar feel. Â Which was pretty decent. Â Then, immediately turn left into the theatre and it truly hasn't changed a bit.
We sat in the front row, we waited for the waitress to take our order, which we got a pitcher of beer (of course). Â And a couple of waters. Â And the Primo nachos.
The beer came a few minutes later. Â But not the waters.
Then the nachos came. Â 30 minutes later. Â It's that nacho cheese in a bag that so many movie houses and other places use as cheese for their nachos. Â And a few other mediocre toppings. Â But then, there were still no waters.
Started into the nachos, nothing great, nothing too terrible, but I make better nachos at home better than this.
The chairs are the same as they were 20 years ago. Â I'm surprised that aside from the squeaks, they have held up as long as they have. Â They were probably the original chairs from when it first opened.
We had both been there years ago at separate times. Â But, for some reason we felt compelled to see The Descendants there. Â And we didn't know how sad that movie would be either. Â But, it was still a pretty good movie, just sad.
During the movie, my husband asked me what I was staring at. Â I didn't answer him.
I thought I saw out of the corner of my eye something run across one step down from the stage. Â But it was gone in a flash, so I chalked it up to some sort of shadow from the movie. Â I kept looking around in case there was some critter running about......but after the movie, he mentioned it again....he thought he saw something run by as well. Â And he, too, chalked it up to a shadow. Â Then, I knew I wasn't crazy. Â And we're pretty sure of it now that there was something in there. Â Probably the size of a large rat. Â OMG.
That said....we thought we knew what we were getting into....but it was actually worse. Â :( Â Wish I could say better things.
If you're looking for a fancy place to have diner and watch a movie you might want to go elsewhere. If you're looking to have a good time drinking a couple beers, eating pub grub all while watching a flick well then this is the place to be. The lounge area is a nice spot to grab a drink before your movie starts with plenty of seating. When you finally go into the theater you wonder what you just got yourself into. The seats and tables are just placed haphazardly and look like they've been saved from being sent to the dump. The food is okay at best. But it truly is a great time if you just go for the experience and don't expect it to be anything it isn't.
Review Source:How can someone NOT love a place like this? You get to watch a movie while sitting in a chair (that, from the looks of it, has been in commision since the 1970s), order food and drinks, and watch a movie. There's no one kicking the back of your seat, there's no awkward closeness - it is movie perfection. The prices are cheaper than a normal theatre, too. The staff is really friendly, too. This is a great place to catch a movie. I love it!
Review Source:Let me be perfectly clear, the star count is purely for the venue only. The performance got a 1.
Went to see a live performance of Rocky Horror last night. I'm a fan of the movie. A little weird but I can understand the cult following. I also have my halloween costume picked out for this year because of last night.
The venue was great. Open bar, waitress, and full menu. I didn't get anything to eat, but the portions looked huge enough for 3-4 people. A nice little spin on regular movie theatre food. Plus, it was extremely reasonable in price. The theatre area was really old school. Almost like the leather swivel chairs and tables were from the 1960's (which I can guarantee that they were). They were short staffed, but the waitress was on point. Props to them for busting their butts all night.
On to the show...
It took forever to start. It had an 11:30 start time and the movie didn't start until 12:45. There was an impromptu drag show that came on. Wasn't the best or worst that I've seen. The people that were putting on the performance did a great job with costumes, makeup, and props. HOWEVER, I could not at all enjoy the performance because of the loud rants by the rest of the performers while the movie was going on. After every line, and sometimes every word throughout the movie, the rest of the performers (not on stage at the time) were screaming, literally screaming pretty profane and annoying stuff. I know that this kind of thing was expected for a live performance of this particular movie, but I couldn't hear the movie at all. It was soooooo annoying. A girl that I was with had never seen the movie and I can tell you, it ruined her perception of Rocky Horror. If they would have just performed the movie with a few live quips here and there, it would have been great, but amount of screaming that went on last night from numerous people actually gave me a headache. If I wasn't there for a meetup event, I would have left 10 minutes into the movie.
Cheap Little Punks were the performers... if anyone of you is reading this, you did a great job. Just get it together with all of the much unneeded interruptions throughout the film. Because of it, I will not be back for a live performance and I will also tell others not to go. Also, its really tacky for the entire cast to stand by the door and ask for tips while people are leaving the theater.
Tampa Pitcher Show, I'll return for a movie or drag queen bingo.
The ticket prices are a little cheaper than a normal cinema and you get to drink beer or get hard drinks while watching a movie. Â I've never gotten any food but they have that there as well.
What I think as a downside are the chairs. Â They have what look like swilly old bar chairs that are wooden and the most uncomfortable chairs I've even sat in while watching a movie. Â They also set up the chair so close to each other that if you move, your chair is moving the chair next to you.
Another drawback is that along with being able to get grub and drinks, the waitress will ask you to pay during the end of the movie, which is totally expectable but irritating if you're into the movie. Â It's not just you but people next to you or in front of you that they're talking to during the last part of the movie.
If you don't mind the distractions or crummy seats, it's a good deal but you end up paying more if you get a pitcher of beer.
Oh yeah, they get first run movies as well.
Finally, a theater with ... real [yummy] food! I'm surprised theres no reviews for this place yet, its actually quite old but in the recent years the owner renovated the place.Shes a lovely lady if you catch her sometimes. Its not your typical sit-in single-chair-hogging arm-rest theater. There are mini tables for each "group", offering full menu and bar right at your own comfort! Its a delight combination of Beef-o-Brady/Apple-Bees and AMC/Regal. Service is great despite the limited amount of light they work in! Screens and surround sound are much like your typical theater, but a bit louder ... (my drink and food were shakin' a bit!). Pricing is extremely reasonable. Note: because they're a privately own-theater, movie show times are limited and they are 1 week or so behind regular release dates, usually 1-2 movie are show a week. Check the website for times or if you commute on N.Dale Mabry everyday like me, check their signs! Non-theater produced quality food -chicken wings, fries, burgers, etc FTW! Great for families, groups, and dates (but don't get too comfy as there are others around ... eating!)
Love!
