Review Source:Ok so after hearing rave reviews about the new Cheif Brian and has awesome cajun cooking we decided to try this place - Brian must've quit Tampa Tap Room...with that said We are praying we dont spend the night SICK- went for the crawfish boil the supposedly started at 6pm- after all how bad can you mess up crawfish -yeah uh I had more heads without tails in my 2lbs almost like they gave me someone elses used plate and the ones left had straight tails- hers not much better-the consistency was MUSH no seasoning (had to ask for some)...we ordered the boudin balls -barley warm and almost raw, and the mac n cheese bites were trash- we mentioned Cheif Brian and were quickly diverted to someone who TRAINED him...maybe not so much- My wife would not let me express my feelings about our experience only saying we gave them a chance-and no one asked how it was so my mouth was shut- until NOW! DO NOT EAT AT THIS ESTABLISHMENT EVER!!!- you can afford better-
Review Source:If a long list of beer offerings were all it took to get a five-star out of me, you'd have one. Luckily, it takes a shit ton more than that. I don't care that you are divey, and I think it's cute that you got a two -star rating from a drive-by vegetarian that you couldn't please. I won't rate your food because I'll probably never eat here again since I suspect the last time you cleaned your beer lines was back when you were Bilmar Station. I can't afford to eat a greasy something or other and drink old moldy beer on top of it just to have it revisit me later like a ghost from dinners past in your questionable restrooms. Tainted craft brews? Â Me thinks not cap'n! I can get the shits far closer to home at a better price. I'll take a bud Light please...make it a Bud Light BOTTLE.
Review Source:Just read a review from some lady that has no idea what she's talking about. Tampa Tap Room has over 50 beers on tap and they rotate daily .The blackened Blue burger is the best burger in Tampa and the food they put out of this restaurant is amazing. I went Friday night and it was so packed you couldn't hardly find a place to sit and everyone was talking about how delicious the food was. They have the most incredible Cajun/Creole food this side of Louisiana. I lived in Lafayette, LA and I know good Cajun food when I have it and believe me this food is amazing. The beer selection is the best in Tampa with a huge selection of draft beers.
From the owner, to the chef and staff this is the friendliest neighborhood bar I've ever been to. I've never been to a neighborhood pub with such delicious food and quality.
Best burgers I've had in Tampa. I tend to stick with only a few beers so I can't say much about the drink selection, but if you don't like beer they have a full liquor selection as well. My only complaint would be that the carpet inside smells kind of old and probably needs cleaning, but I spend most of my time there in the outside area for smokers. The staff is great and attentive and will let you sample any beer you want so you don't have to gamble on what you're getting. Even if you don't like drinking, at least go here for the food. I've never had anything I didn't like.
Review Source:Just moved to the area and thought we'd give this place a try because of it's good reviews and awards given by best of the bay for their burgers and wings. Â The place looks like a dive bar at first impression but that has never deterred us, I've had some fabulous burgers at dive bars. Â We were greeted right away by the bartender and asked what we would like to drink. Â As a beer lover, I was impressed by the long list of beers on the wall. Â Unfortunately, most of the beers we wanted to try they were out of. Â I settled on a whit beer but my husband decided to stick with water since all 3 beers he wanted were not available. Â He wasn't missing anything. Â My beer had a bit of a mildew taste. Â I don't think they clean the lines well. Â We considered leaving at this point but decided to stay because we were hungry and in the mood for these award winning burgers. Â I ordered the black and blue, my husband and son ordered their regular burgers with cheese and bacon, all med/rare. Â When the burgers came out, they were not medium rare but well done, and the blue cheese on mine did not taste amazing as other reviewers had raved about; It was very runny and tasteless. Â I ended up eating half of mine as did my husband. Â My son ate all of his. Â
Well about 30 minutes after leaving and arriving home, my husband complained of his stomach burning then ran to the bathroom to throw-up. Â The rest of the night he had stomach cramps and a headache. Â When my son woke in the morning, he too said he had been up during the night with stomach problems and a bad headache as did I.
I do not recommend this place to anyone. Stay away!
REAL Cajun Food!
I wanted to comment on a previous review by John W about the price of the shrimp poboy and see if he actually ordered it or was just complaining about the price without any knowledge about the food. I ordered the half order of the shrimp poboy last night... which is 6 inches instead of 12 of the full size, the half order is still 10.50 and completely worth it! Â And they do actually 12 inches, Â unlike Subway that the footlong isn't really a foot. They use large pieces of shrimp and every bite I had a shrimp in it so its not like they are cheaping out on how much they use. The bread was AMAZING! It is actually from New Orleans and used at almost every place in the city.... if you want TRADITIONAL Cajun food, well then everything is gonna have to be shipped in from there and that isn't cheap. Â I believe even at 10.50 for a half order the price was completely fair. If you want untraditional cajun food then this is not the place for you. I personally have no trouble paying the prices for the amazing food. Â The ettoufee and bbq shrimp are wonderful as well. Â If you know REAL cajun food and poboys... you will not be disappointed at all!!!!!
Admittedly it was my own fault for going to a bar like this without previewing the menu online first. Â My wife and I were out doing some errands and decided to stop in since it was nearby for a beer and some light noshing. Â Unfortunately, as we are both vegetarians there was an extremely limited choice of foods to have. Â We ended up with some onion rings that were positively drenched in oil. Â They were decent, though we ended up with very unsettled stomachs for the rest of the night.
The beer selection is impressive in number, but only contained a handful of local craft brews and the rest weren't anything unique or even that interesting. Â Even though it wasn't very busy it took a while before anyone noticed us and took our order, and unfortunately I have to agree that the place is filthy. Â While sitting at a table I noticed my hands had become stained with some mysterious black substance and I counted myself lucky that I hadn't leaned over the table before noticing. Â
I can't really recommend this place other than for some of the drink specials, but for all that you're better off going across the street to World of Beer and ordering take out from one of the nearby restaurants.
I agree with the one reviewed.. while they do have an impressive selection of draft beer, the whole place looks old, and doesn't appear to be cleaned regularly. Also, the past two visits have been disheartening, as my favorite menu items were not available..****************** Update!***
Apparently my visits were just after the place had changed hands. (and they were in the process of changing form the old menu, to the new menu from the new owner). I have returned twice since the visit in the original review, and have been more than happy, although the menu is considerably smaller now, in terms of offerings, I have been very happy on my return trips.. I will be  back yet again, trust me
This is a bar with a bar menu but they really take care with the food. I'm a traditional Buffalo-style wing gal from upstate NY and they do a great job with the wings here. First time I've actually enjoyed chargrilled wings was here. And that black 'n bleu burger just melts in your mouth. Just thinking about it makes me salivate. (Shouldn't write these things on an empty stomach :) Â Now, the beer selection. It's gi-norm-ous! Something for everyone, from domestic standards to high end craft beers rounded out with seasonal special brews. It's hard to pick. So I think I'll try them all...eventually! This bar may not be a slick new franchise but it's got personality and soul. The owner seems like a real down to earth good guy, and obviously has worked on improving things. The bartenders are friendly and will chat (as time permits) or leave you to your own devices, if that is your preference, but will keep an eye on you so your glass is never empty.
