Here's the thing, I like the joint, the music is good, the folks are fun, all in all a good time...... however, echoing another reviewer on here, i'm almost 100% sure that they water down their booze. I had some beam on the rocks and it tasted sweet, instead of bourbon-y delicious. if you stick to beers you're in the clear.
Review Source:I really had no idea this place existed-and I do my best to stay on top of these things in Santa Fe.
There's nothing wrong with this place except that it's a bit out of the way from downtown. Other than that it's a saloon - dark and alcohol filled.
*I'll note that this review is based on being there for ~30 seconds as I sprinted in, slammed a miller lite bottle and ran out the door to continue on my drunken pub crawl.
Laura makes the best silver coin margaritas I've ever tasted! Â None of that gross sugery stuff - I want my margarita to taste like the premium tequila that I'm paying for and not like some corn syrup concoction. Â I like the prompt service I get at the Tin Star as well as its down home honky tonk feel!
Review Source:You go to the Tin Star Saloon for a few reasons:
-- Guess what saloons are for?
-- You will kill the next tourist you see, so you a) need a drink, and b) need a place where there are zero.
-- Want a bar that is not too frou-frou high-end but also not a place where people vomit on the pool table. Something in between, with a nice vibe.
-- Want music with a really low cover.
-- Want a family-kind of place where you can meet the owner, even meet his dog.
That's the Tin Star. We had properly made, fresh margaritas that were not from mix, and not in a huge glass larger than my head, but Straight-up No Bullshit martini style, and excellent. And we met the owners and their dog and found out where the locals eat. Great spot.
