My boyfriend and I order to go/eat here way too much, but we absolutely love the food. I have an allergy to sesame seeds and apparently they don't use sesame seeds in anything which is the main reason why I started to eat here more frequently.

Their hibachi meals may not be completely authentic, but that doesn't mean its not tasty - they cook it very well. I've had the veggie, shrimp, steak, and chicken hibachis and every single time it has been cooked great. The vegetables are never too soggy which is a plus. These meals are served with their version of yum yum sauce, which is sweeter than other restaurants' yum yum sauces, but it's my favorite part.

I've never had any of their raw sushi, but I frequently order their flame roll - not a disappointment at all. I've also had their nigiris. At most sushi restaurants I've been to, they usually skimp on their nigiris - and by this I mean they slice the fish way too thinly and serve it with an itty bitty ball of sushi rice. However, Tokyo Japan does not seem do this. They serve their nigiris as they should be, that is, two pieces are given and are not tiny.

Service has always been great. They don't seem to have many different servers (I think this might be family owned?) so we tend to get the same server. Doesn't matter, as they are always so generous and kind.

Also, they serve various vegetarian sushi rolls - so if you're a vegetarian, definitely try this place.

    Pros:
    1. Most of the food is pretty good and served at the proper temperature.
    2. VERY affordable prices.   You can't beat the hibachi menu for value.
    3. The place is clean
    4. Friendly service
    5. Decor is simple, but it works.  There are a couple flat screen TVs.

    Cons:
    1. The fried rice is bland.  I always have to mix in the sauce from another dish to make it tolerable.
    2. When you order the egg roll sometimes you get a tasty spring roll and sometimes you get a made-from-frozen egg roll. (As other reviewers have mentioned, you should never get ketchup with these.  Too bad they yet haven't fixed this yet).
    3. Service is always friendly but sometimes their communication skills are lacking.  Twice my phone-in carryout order was entered incorrectly.  If you phone in your order I'd have them repeat it back to you or double check it before you leave.

Tip:  The hibachi meals are a good value, but I'd stick to the chicken only meal.  You can pay more to get chicken + (beef, shrimp, or scallops) but they take away a bunch of the chicken even though you pay more for the extra item.

Very comparable to other "expensive" Japanese restaurants, only about 1/3 the price. If you can do without the food juggling, and the corny jokes... this is the place to go for good hibachi steak.
