Some places you just walk into and are greeted with a friendly and welcoming smile. You know, you just feel comfortable.
Not this place. Let me explain. I was in town working and we didn't have much to do that day. It was lunch time and we stopped by Tommy Ts for lunch. My buddy ate there on a Wednesday night and said the steaks were really good. So we walk in and are greeted with awkward stares by two ladies. One was older and she managed to wrinkle out a smile. The other was young and had her two children there. An infant and a toddler. Hrmmm. So at this point I'm a bit confused and I'm not sure what all went down. Next thing I know I have a beer in my hand and we are playing some pool (a dollar a game). Well we wanted some lunch so I walked over to try and order. They were going over some pieces of paper; billing or something. I received a "what do you need?". So I asked if we could order food. I submitted my order for a burger and the dialog went something like this,
Me: "I'll have the burger"
Mean mother: "What do you want on it?"
Me: "What do you put on it?"
Mean mother: "Everything"
Me: "Whats everything"
So at that point I'm thinking this was a mistake.
Well, the mean mother went back behind the bar. Apparently, she is the cook too. After 10-15 minutes or so our burgers came out with fries. The burger wasn't terrible but it wasn't great. The meat tasted like a frozen patty. It was edible. So at this time, the mean mother went back with the old lady and they smoked. In front of the children.
We ate quickly, paid, and got the hell out of there. As we were making our get away we had a strange thought. Was this place even open? For all we know they were robbing the place.
We stopped in Ridgecrest on our way to Mammoth to watch the MSU game that was on. Â There wasn't too many options but of the 2 places, this one seemed better rated by yelpers. Â It was ok, they had a big TV on with sound for the game. Â
The bartender was really mean when we walked in but then was a little nicer once we started a tab. Â I hope I don't ever have to go to this town again but if you're in a bind like we were to watch our game I would recommend stopping here. Â I don't think I would ever touch the food. Â Bathrooms were gross.
1 star cause it's the only "30 n under" bar/wanna b club in this town. The actually charge on a Friday. $5-10 depending what's going on. They will promote a concert of some ancient artist for around $30. Presell tickets and then on game day artist dont show and they are packed. Did I mention no refunds. And these poor folks still support them when they do It to the all over again.
