I was passing through on the way to northern Minnesota, and was badly in need of breakfast. The Denver omelet totally hit the spot. It's not a fancy place, kind of typical of small town northern Wisc. People were nice and the coffee good. Oh, and the hash browns were browned just right.
Review Source:Ate at their Friday night all you can eat buffet. Â The food was pretty good, breaded and broiled fish, popcorn shrimp, baked potatoes, tater tots, a casserole, a pretty decent salad bar, and other things, and the price was also reasonable. Â The one thing that was unsatisfactory was that my husband ordered a diet soda and it came in a can - he usually has a refill at restaurants so he ended up having 2 cans... and it was $1.75 a can! Â That was quite expensive and made the meal no longer such a great value. Â Other restaurants in the area will have sodas for $1.25 to $1.50 with free refills. Â That was our only complaint. Â We did not order off the regular menu but we did look at it, nothing on it seemed very special.
Review Source:My wife and I stopped in at 2PM after fishing all morning.  She ordered the lasagna special, but it was not.  I ordered the 1/2 broasted chicken and it was very good.  The cole slaw was excellent and so was the potato salad.  Wife tried the sour cream raisin  pie and it was not up to Norske Nook standard.  So.. I liked my meal very much and wife did not.  Par for the course.
Review Source:The Dinner Dell is a fairly new tradition to go there with my family just about every time we go out to northwest Wisconsin. Normally I order their breakfast which is one of the best restaurant breakfasts I have ever had. The pancakes are out of this world. This time I had lunch. I ordered their chicken strips and fries and was not disappointed.
Review Source:I'm sorry to say that the Trego Dinner Bell didn't quite live up to expectations. Â I've driven past the Dinner Ball too many times to remember but hadn't ever stopped until recently. Â I wrapped up a week-long trip throughout northern Minnesota and Wisconsin with a site north of Trego. Â After finishing up the construction manager and I drove to the Dinner Bell to grab some lunch. Â We unknowingly sat in the smoking section, which is apparently the left side of the building. Â It wasn't too smoky, however, because only about four or five other patrons were present. Â This was about 12:15 PM on a Friday, so I guess the Dinner Bell doesn't do a brisk lunch crowd.
I ordered coffee and perused the menu. Â I was happy that the waitress brought out a carafe and the coffee was pretty decent if not spectacular. Â I was more interested in getting something warm inside me - I drove down to the Coffee Grounds to get a real delicious brew later that afternoon. Â I had skipped breakfast that morning as there wasn't much to choose from at the hotel, so I was quite famished. Â The CM took his time going through the menu but the waitress wasn't exactly hurrying to get back to us. Â Maybe it was because I was so hungry but the service seemed intolerably slow. Â
I ended up ordering the meatloaf sandwich. Â This is always a diner favorite of mine when I'm on the road - it's a big open-faced comfort food staple. Â The CM ordered a sandwich with fries that actually looked pretty good. Â I can't say I was too impressed with the meatloaf sandwich. Â The mashed potatoes reminded me of the kind we got from the school cafeteria. Â I wasn't expecting real mashed potatoes but these were gritty and grainy, and worst of all not all that hot. Â The gravy was just a bit above lukewarm. Â The meatloaf itself was not the best I've had. Â It came with a ketchup glaze, which is OK for stand-alone meatloaf but doesn't match up well with a standard brown gravy. Â I also got a few pieces of gristle. Â Suffice it to say, I wasn't hungry enough to finish the meal. Â I am disappointed because I drive past this place so many times in the course of a year, but I don't see myself stopping again.
