The Turkey Shop is no more - RIP. The huge turkey sign that loomed large above I-35 for as long as I can remember has been ignominously taken down. Although you can still order a turkey sandwich, it is the no longer the freshly cooked REAL turkey that used to be served until a month or two ago. Instead it is that awful 'turkey product' that is from a industrial plant in Delaware or somewhere. The BBQ place that bought the Turkey Shop and destroyed a bit of food history is not worth worth the stop. Very Sad.
Review Source:I always saw this little place on my way back from Austin and finally stopped once. Â Service was really rude and pushy, but the food was surprisingly pretty good for the price and atmosphere. Â For $11, I got 3 slices of brisket, a quarter pound of turkey, a half chicken, and a sausage. Â All were pretty good. Â Chicken was really juicy, and the turkey was what you'd expect. Â Brisket really shocked me as to how close it was to real BBQ. Â It was definitely worth stopping for, but I think my expectations were a little higher.
