Celebrated my birthday here recently. Loved the strong Manhattan and good selection of whiskies. Bartender was very friendly and joked with us a bit. We played some darts. We had a very good time. The only thing I did not fully enjoy was the jukebox: it was tired and badly in need of some updated tubes. This was my third time visiting this bar, and each time was great, except for the jukebox. I mean, I love The Pogues and Bob Dylan, don't get me wrong. It's just there's a universe of good music out there. Anyway, go early for a quiet drink, and throw some darts!
Review Source:I love scotch. Scotchy, scotch, scotch. Here it goes down, down into my belly. If you are a classy individual like myself who loves scotch, get yourself down to Uisce's. They have a nice wide selection of Irish (of course) whiskey and scotch. Cool vibe. Attractive bartender/doorman/not sure what he is. What more could you ask for?
Review Source:Very disappointing. Charged 5 bucks admission for my boyfriend and I, walked in... They were obliviously way over capacity. We turned around (literally in there a minute) and politely asked for our 10 dollars back because there were no seats. Guy was very short and refused to refund us. :(
Review Source:Nice place if you don't mind being treated like dirt by the owners. After several bad experiences, the wife and I decided to try again only to be told by the owner they weren't open and to come back later. We checked our watches as we left and were 1 minute early. Isn't there a nicer way to say I will be with you in a few minutes? Just sayin'
Review Source:This place made my st. patty's day special.
Yes i get that going to an irish pub on that day is cliche but so what?
The only beef I have EVER had with this place is the owner once snubbed me several times in one night when all i needed to do was close out. Tip was altered greatly after I watched him look right at me in the eyes and then serve the person next to me who literally walked up after he looked at me.
I let it go because the many other times i've been there have been nothing but amazing.
One of my favorites. I wouldn't recommend this place if you're looking for a complicated (or let's face it, any) mixed drink. However I love the atmosphere here. The bartenders may not know how to make you what you want, but there is lots of beer, simple well drinks, and a few mixed drinks (like a jolly rancher) that they can make for you. One time I was here in a group of two other people and we were the only ones around so the bartender told us stories; she was great. If you think an Irish pub sounds fun, go ahead and try Uisce. I don't think you'll be disappointed. They also have free pretzels!
Review Source:when it is full, you can't beat the vibe. Â Everyone goes to Uisce it seems. Â I wish they had food, because I would be there more often and earlier, but it is truly a pub. Â You can get pretzels and mustard. Â The owner is interesting, and there is one great bartender who flirts, and one who makes a pretty crap mixed drink. Â I love trivia night and the nights they have Maggie's Fury. Â Who doesn't like Irish music and dancers?
Review Source:One of my faves in Bellingham - I started going there the summer I turned 21 every Tuesday for Trivia. Â The bartender is awesome, and the guys who ran Trivia were hilarious. Â Thursdays to Saturdays it's filled to the brim with college students, but the rest of the week they can't be found.
Towards the end of my stay in Bellingham, they added two food options - and while meager, at least it was food. Â Cool part was that they allowed outside food to be brought in, I hope they still do...
Was visiting Bellingham from Vancouer BC and stumbled across Uisce. Over the course of our 3 day visit we went there 3 times! Yes it gets a bit busy after about 9:00 on the weekends but the drinks are great and the staff exceptionable. There was even a live Irish band that played.
It was play-off hockey time and we asked if they would be showing the upcoming Canucks game - not only did they put the game on for us but they opened an hour early just to accommodate us. I will be visiting Uisce every time I go to Bellingham.
I like generally enjoy Irish pubs but this is the most half-assed attempt I've ever seen of one. It feels like a cold, empty cave. it's generally over-packed on weekends with 21 year olds who don't know better yet! The cavernous size of the room makes conversation without yelling impossible when its full. To me, if its noise, it better be music! Would like to see some more effort to make this place feel more authentic. Nothing about it makes it special except that it's the only self-proclaimed Irish pub in Bellingham
Review Source:Fun and challenging (albeit packed) weekly trivia, cool atmosphere with wood floors, a fireplace, vintage whiskey-lined shelves, and the best white russians in Bellingham. Their drinks are more expensive than most places in town, but they're also not catering to the 21 year olds. Sometimes its so crowded you'll fight to even reach the bar which is always kind of annoying, and they typically seem to be understaffed once you do get to the front. That said, once do you manage to order your drink, they pour 'em strong and well. Nice place that elevates the class of Bham's downtown scene.
PS. Get the free pretzels and mustard. Extra mustard.
My favorite bar in Bellingham is no longer a well kept secret. It's a little too busy on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights for me now...with the high ceilings, it can be really loud. But I love the vibe of Uisce. Full bar, great beer on tap, free pretezels and hot mustard. If you're not into the "college crowd" don't go Thursday-Saturday night. It's a great place to meet up with friends for a drink and conversation any other night of the week. Staff is really friendly, great place all around. I heart Uisce!
Review Source:Irish bars hold a special place in my heart, and Uisce is no exception! Moved to Bellingham from Seattle and this place was recommended time and time again. Finally ventured in on a Saturday night and loved it! The bar has all the right components: wood floors, fireplace, long bar, Irish beer, darts, tables for groups, comfy chairs and great atmosphere!
What makes this place is the atmosphere and the people.
The place gets packed a little after 9:00 and from then till closing it is a challenge (to say the least) getting a drink. The bar is practically half the length of the place and it's usually 5 people deep waiting for drinks. I recommend getting there by 9:00 and getting a spot at the bar. Pull up a chair and you're set for the night.
Be patient with the bartenders (as there are usually only 2), and they will be good to you!
This is a *bar*. Â It is not a pub. Â If you go to it expecting the latter, as I did, be prepared for a disappointment. Â College kids stacked 5 deep at the bar and a deafening din with drinks mixed around alcohol content rather than taste, yes; a good place for a quiet drink with your friends and a decent meal... very much no.
If you're just looking for a watering hole, though, this will probably fit the bill just fine.
Fire place, darts, good drinks, good beer and excellent staffing. Good atmosphere...they do not offer food though, and the drinks are somewhat more than most bars. Still a really good place to go!
Try the lazy Boy Brewery Irish Amber. It's a great beer and I think it's the only bar/ resteraunt in Bellingham that has it on tap
I had an awesome time in Uisce - It made me feel right at home...you know why?! Because the owners are originally from NYC :) Â They definitely bought the east coast vibe to the pacific northwest. Â It was great talking to them and letting me know how much they enjoyed living in Bellingham. Â Kudos to the lady for making me an awesome Irish coffee/whiskey drink?!! Whatever it was, it definitely topped my night off! Â I enjoyed the cornhusk straw idea that this place had - everything is very environmentally concious in this town.
The decor is classy yet casual. Â A very cool irish bar. Â The darts were lots of fun and the juke box definitely kept the night going :)
OK, this one is my favorite, so I guess there is some particular order... Â Uisce (pronounced "ISH-kuh,", the Irish word for "whiskey") is a glorious Irish pub in downtown Bellingham. Opened just a few years ago by native Bellinghamster Molly McGarry and her Irish-native husband, David, Uisce is a classic Irish pub, repleat with hardwood floors, a fire place, church pew benches, and a wide range of Irish and English beers on tap, not to mention a solid collection of The Pogues on the jukebox. Â Lots of whiskey, too, of course...and darts.
Review Source:Sunday we stopped in after hitting the slopes at Mt. Baker. Â The town itself was quiet and many places were closed because it was getting late. Â However, this place was packed and I loved the warm relaxing decor and the place is huge! Â There was a nice vibe and our bartender John (I believe) was super welcoming. Â I had a couple Pimm's Cups and they were quite lovely. Â The bar was gorgeous offering some great beer on tap (including an Irish Cider), full bar and a lovely selection of scotch and whiskey. Â If we didn't have to drive to far I would have liked to go down the whiskey menu starting at the top. Â Highly recommend Uisce!
Review Source:A classy Irish bar complete with church pews, a fireplace, looming chandeliers, leather furniture. It's cozy and warm.
Cut to the Car Bombs. Cozy and warm turns lively and celebratory. Singing. Laughing. Hugging strangers who quickly become friends. More car bombs. And the servers don't look at you (or your ringleader who obviously is a favorite regular) like you need to leave; they keep pouring and smiling and encouraging ... more.
I'm sure on a weeknight this is the place to be for a sophisticated and unassuming experience in Bellingham. A haven for Professors.
I look forward to going back, not dropping any shot glasses in my beer, and enjoying the regular vibe soon!
Guinness poured properly. Professional, friendly bar staff that know what they're talking about. Trivia Nite on Tuesday is the best one in town. You may pay a few bucks more, but if you want proper drinks served properly, you must cough up. Deal with it. Outside of darts and mangled board games, there isn't much to do, so bring a friend or two to keep it lively.
Review Source:This is by far my favorite bar in Bellingham. For beer drinkers, there is a definite joy that fills the heart when served something magical: an imperial pint. I'm no good at math or anything, but I'm *pretty* sure that's 25% more beer. I'm also pretty sure that more beer is better than less beer in almost any situation. They serve good beer there, too. There's a full bar for all you non-beer drinkers as well. They won't serve up anything with energy drinks, either, so that usually keeps out the douche bag type crowd roaming around with their unpaid hookers after leaving the Royal.
On weekends it can be extremely crowded and take a good bit to get a drink. It can also take a good bit to make the epic journey to and from the bathrooms. I say 'epic' because of the intense numbers of obstacles in the way: leather furniture, a raging inferno (there's a fireplace), thirty-six (give or take three) people waiting for a drink, as well as the dart throwing crowd.
With a large (10+) group, get there early enough to grab one of the church pew tables and you can fit everyone in just fine. You'd be fine to get there anywhere from 8 - 9 on a weekend most of the time. Otherwise it will get a bit difficult.
Pros:
- love the leather seats next to the fire place
- board games, and darts to play
- drinks are great, good selection, Â good bartenders
- live music some nights
Cons:
- most nights its really busy and your stuck sitting on a hard wooden church pew
- almost all board games are missing pieces
- its a little pricy and there is no food offered
Still worth checking out! Try to go on a night when its not too busy, and you will enjoy yourself more.
A Filipino in an Irish Bar... interesting.
I love this place. Â I went with a couple of friends and it was just a great place to chill and have awesome conversations with. Â I guess having a well equipped bar with great service helps as well. Â
They have live music during some nights and some dart boards to keep you occupied. Â My friends go here for trivia nights on tuesdays (?) and they keep talking about how packed it gets! Â I need to go on these nights since I'm free on Tuesday evenings now.
Prices are pretty good, but then again anything I've found in Bellingham totally beats the LA/Vegas prices I'm used to.
