Obviously, the best thing to say about this place is the view. We had been here 2 years ago when they had table service and it was great. NOW they have only counter service and it sucks. I thought the same thing as previous reviewer about a tip line on credit card receipt, what for? We then had to go inside for a beer and then back outside to a table? We decided to stay in the bar because the food window was right there so we could get our food ASAP. Would've been great, if only someone was there to call out our number! They finally announce numbers after ours so we inquired about our food. Apparently it was just sitting there getting cold. Our sandwiches were good, but cold fries are not really the business. Mentioned our displeasement to the bartender and he offered to buy us a beer, which was very nice. I think next time we'll stick to beverages only and skip the whole nonsense of serving ourselves.
Review Source:Great place for food and drinks during boating in the delta near Stockton from launching at Discovery Bay. The fish tacos and onion rings were surprisingly good and I like them crunchy which they were. Â Everyone is friendly and happy as most people there are boaters and like to party.
Review Source:Great spot, close to Disco Bay if you're coming by boat (or by car for that matter) with plenty of boat parking. Â The food is fine and the potions are large but the way you have to stand in line and order food, then sit down is not very convenient. Â Its convenient for the staff / restaurant and that's about it. Â You wait in line to order then you have to listen for your number then you have to go up and get everything yourself. Â And to top it off they have a line for gratuity on the voucher, why would I tip when I'm doing everything myself? Â On a busy Saturday its not very much fun.
Review Source:What a killer spot. My company decided to do a "team building" thing in Discovery Bay and dragged me down there for some R&R. While out on the boat we decided to dock here at Union Point for some beer and grub. Glad we did.
First off the bartender rocked. Super friendly, he immediately grabbed us all waters with ice in big glasses even before we asked. It was pretty warm out, so they were most appreciated.
I grabbed a beer and we all ordered some apps to enjoy outside on the patio. The chili fries (I think that's what they were) were basically ridiculous and a perfect side to my beer. This ain't no French Bistro so don't come expecting white tablecloths and waiters. Hell of a view, good brews and tasty bar fare make this a great spot to stop when you're out on the water or just driving by.
This past weekend, the boys and I took the scooters out for a ride to Twain Harte. We stopped here for some lunch and a cold one... liked it so much we stopped by the next day on the ride home. Good fast service and friendly staff. Whether by water or land a good stop for food or an adult beverage!
Review Source:Union point Bar and Grill is exactly what it claims to be...a bar and grill on the delta whose target market is delta boaters and the occasional passer by on Highway 4.
Those of you who had amazingly high expectations of 5 Star Food and exceptional service had set yourselves up for a let down. A let down not because the food is bad nor because the service is poor but because your expectations were for Morton's on the water.
You occasionally have to wait a tad bit for food, which is much improved over normally bar type faire, and the service is fantastic. Naturally there will be a wait on a weekend given that Union Point is likely one of the busiest places on the water but it is hardly unreasonable and we have been going there for 8 years.
This is a fun place with a ton of energy so be prepared to people watch, enjoy good food in a fun atmosphere and leave FULL!
See y'all Friday...hope to be out there by 3:30!
Our favorite place when we are out the Delta!
Choice of indoor (if you need AC or TV) or outdoor (if you have little dog) ...
Nice view (boats and beautiful people) ...
I just hope they open early - we were out April and May and they were still closed, it gets really busy in summertime  - some days they have outdoor grill (i have to have my corn!)
On the delta and we are need of a bathroom, food, and more hard liquor. Â So we dock the boat right outside, watching a few of the people already sitting outside eating at a table or smoking a cigarette, and while we're waiting another boat docks with friends that we know!! Â Woohoo! =)
We walk into the bar and order drinks all around. Â The bartender is great...realizing that we're a pretty loud crowd as the other boat were obviously a few rounds ahead of us before we got there, but the bartender took all our orders including bar food quickly.
Fried green beans were great as was the rest of the food (fries, chicken tenders, and such). Â There were so many of us, we started over crowding the aisle by the side bar, so some of us started conversing with others at the main bar to spread us out. Â
We met three elderly ladies (all sisters) that live nearby, and a couple of hog men that swung by for a drink. Â Wait a sec!! Â Did I say hog?!! Â Can I see the beauty?? Sure! Walk out the other door and what do you know, the bar is right off the highway also.
So convenient, great bar food, decent drinks, friendly staff, and great patrons!!! Â Definitely a stop while on the Delta...or apparently, just driving by! =)
PS: One of the sisters is sik for jumping on the back of one of the hogs to have a quick ride with one of the guys!! Â Awesome!! =D
It's a nice roadside dive bar with a marina/boat dock that has decent bar good  views and has been fixed up more than a little over the years that I have been coming here.
On my last/recent visit they put a sun shade over the open deck, (the sun can be brutal) and had fixed up the inside air conditioned dinning room. Â They even had a waitress that asked up what we wanted and brought it to us on a reasonably timely baisi; at least by Delta standards. (It used to be self serve/line up at an order window.)
The food is ok to good burgers, sandwhiches and some simple salads. Â They have a full bar; my Mai-Tai was good but nothing special.
There is a long boat dock with lots of parking and plenty of parking by the highway for you land lubbers. Â There is a nice gas dock to fill up the boat. Â The main bar still looks more than a little original/seedy but maybe it's the next thing on the remodel list.
The main reason to come is to people watch, boat watch and enjoy the river front view and thats why I give it four stars. Â Otherwise it would be an average to mediocur 3 star place.
It's a good place for a little dive bar slumming on the Delta on a sunny summer weekend afternoon.
I so had high hopes of this place! Â I really wish it could have been better. Â My friends and I were out on the delta for a friend's birthday yesterday and we stopped in here for bathroom and beer. Â After ordering drinks at the bar, part of the group went to sit down at a table overlooking the water. Â From what I was told, before myself and some others sat down a waitress did come over and ask if anyone wanted food and those sitting there said no. Â However, one person did order a pizza.
When myself and some others sat down we waited for a waiter for awhile (probably about 15 minutes) before we finally asked another waitress to ask them to come over. Â We then waited another 20 minutes for someone to come over and no one did so we ended up leaving. Â It was a bummer because we had planned to buy appetizers and shots for the birthday boy.
The positive things were the quick service at the bar and the cute boy  Jeff that I had a nice conversation with.  But he was just a customer and wouldn't be there all the time :)
Good location and I understand they were busy on a hot summer Saturday - but still.. the service was non-existence. Â I hope my next experience will be better
I've been visiting Union Point for many years. Â It's a great place to ride my Harley to on a Sunday morning for a beer and some breakfast and a great place to stop off at and grab a beer on that hot day when I'm boating on the Delta.
The food is always good. Â The beers are always cold. Â And the sunsets on the Delta from the rear patio can be compared to those on the Bayou or Key West. Â Absolutely breath taking!
Only stopped here a good dozen times! Hahaha. For the obvious reasons:
-beer
-bathroom stop
-snacks
-beer :)
Tahahahaha. Nothing out of the norm. They have tighty-ed up the place and there is an outside deck where you can sit, chill and eat. They serve burgers, sanwhiches, fries and some breakfast items. Usually, its pretty nice out depending on the time and season you go. Spring is nice and well...during the Summer you probably will be dying to sit inside because its scorching hot! Overall, nice docking area and they have a docking site for refuel if you need it. I wouldn't recommend getting ANY gas on the water because its going to cost an arm, a leg and your left tit! So if you know your empty hit up the local gas station before getting on the water.
I had rode by this restaurant several times on my motorcycle and decided to stop for lunch. I was by myself. There is seating both inside and outside. I chose outside as it was a very nice day.
The outdoor seating overlooks the water. I ordered fish & chips which was $9.95 and ice tea. The ice tea came right away, however the f &c was a 1/2 hour wait. I enjoy fish & chips for lunch and order it quite often. The fish was heavy on the batter and light on the fish. Two pieces of fish were served along with chips (fries) and cole slaw. The meal was ok but I would not order it again. My waitress kept my ice tea full.
While eating I noticed that several large pieces of beef were brought out to an area where they had a large Weber kettle. I ask my waitress what it was and she said it was the prime rib, that was a Friday night special. I talked to the two men who were preparing it with a rub. They said they smoke it for four hours. I decided to come back for dinner and give it a try.
I brought my wife with me for dinner and again sat outside. I ordered the prime rib and she ordered a chicken breast, we also ordered calamari as an appetizer. Unlike for lunch the food came out right away. My prime rib was 16 oz, their only size, it came with a Cesar salad, garlic mashed potato's, veggies & garlic bread. My wife's chicken had a cream sauce with cranberries. Both were excellent. My only recommendation would be to serve corn on the cob instead of the veggies. There is a huge corn field across the highway. The calamari was excellent, light on the batter and cooked to perfection, some of the best we have eaten. I plan to come back for lunch and give one of their burgers a try.
Your average side of the highway burger place. The food quality is decent an d the beer selectionis large enough.
The saving graces of this bar are:
1. live music on patio
2. limited menu so they can focus on cooking what they have well instead of adding items to the menu.
3. the patio itself
BTW: If you are extremely tired after a long camping trip, dirty, possibly coming down a cold and are easily annoyed by old early 20somethings that act like they are in a frat house do not go here on sunny Sunday evenings. It was my fault.
We are regulars here for lunch. Havent quiet done the dinner/drinks evenings but lunch has been great. Sit outside, quiet environment on weekdays and the burgers are great. The Big Wake Bacon CB is real good. Prices are great as well. No launch ramp but lots of boaters and jet skiers can tie up. Folks from Disco Bay jetski or boat in for lunch or dinner. Pretty cool.
Review Source:Very cool venue, now they just need live music! Over all it was a great find! The service is pretty slow but the food was good, it's a Bar & Grill w/a captive audiance so we didn't expect it would be great; but, it was good, fish & chips & burger is what we had, the slaw left a little to be desired though)! It's real fun watching the boats & people come & go. We road in on the HD, parking is a challange on the bike but do-able. We really had a nice time & they seem to keep it pretty clean for the traffic (rest rooms especially)...
Review Source:A marina on the Delta well disguised as a classic dive/ boating bar. Â Great place to get gas, a cocktail and ogle all the folks in their just off the boat fashion ;) Â
You can get food here but it's not what one would call edible - self serve and fried are the only options. Â The drinks are fairly strong and there is generally a crowd on the weekends - loads of bikinis and leather to be seen as bikers and boaters mingle on the large outside deck or in the cozy, dark bar inside with a juke box jammed with country and rock music for the weekend warrior! Â Â Oh yes and there is even a covered seating area inside for families or those needing a break from the sun.
