What can I say, its a Sports Bar in Fuquay Varina! Â This was our first time here in years, and I think now it is called the Brick, if I'm not mistaken. Â Its a great place for drinks, beers, locals, playing pool and to listen to live music. Â There was only 1 bartender working the Friday Night we went, and the place got pretty full so the later it got, the longer it took to get drinks. Â The staff was working hard though to keep things in order. Â There is an outdoor smoking area that is surrounded by a brick wall to keep the smokers directly out of the elements. Â I don't smoke and could only tolerate about 20 seconds out there before I got smoked back indoors (yes, it is an outdoor patio!) so I spent most of my time watching the band and the pool players while my smoking friends were out there. Â Descent bathrooms. Â Not a bad place, especially if you are a local!
Review Source:Closing May 26...they're having a "going away" party that day/night. Â
I ordered a pizza from J & S across the street & was told it would be about 30 minutes...since J & S doesn't offer the most welcoming atmosphere to sit & enjoy a drink while you wait for your food, I walked across the street to this place. Â The inside matched the outside-- typical dive bar, with a "Cheers" type vibe. Â It's a shame it's closing though, seemed to have a lot of potential in regards to location & actual space...nice spot at the end of a building in downtown Varina with a small outdoor patio, pool tables, & a small stage for bands. Â Hopefully something fun will take it's place!!
For a "dive bar" it's not bad. Â The staff was friendly and the drinks were decent, not watered down. Â They had a live band the night I was there and they rocked! I'm planning to go back on DJ night and see how that is. Â So, IMHO as far as small town establishments go it reminded me a little bit of Cheers :)
Review Source:This place is a dive bar, no two ways about it. The first place I've seen in a while that had a sanitation score of "B". But it's got pool tables and some arcade stuff. If you're a gruff customer and just want a drink, its okay. But otherwise I'd probably find somewhere else to drink.
