    i love this place.
you go downstairs and find a table or couch to set up shop and drink tasty coffee served by a smiling barista.
there's something special about this place. i stayed here for hours one day catching up on all sorts of internet work i hadn't gotten around to and it just felt like a little crazy sweet living room in the middle of the world.
the food choices didn't inspire me but as a coffee shop, it's great.

Good coffee, friendly staff, and be sure to try the strawberry scones.  Yum!

This place has a great atmosphere, but I felt a little cramped checking my email on the available tables. It was also hard to find outlets.

I feel terrible leaving such a short little review, but I was really just here on a mission to use the wifi. It looks like a great place, all around. Check out Dorea's excellent review for more pertinent information.

The "Venus" is a non-profit coffee shop that is an endeavor of the Butte-Silver Bow Arts Foundation.

It's a quirky little place to chill, right on the fringes of uptown Butte. The decor is eclectic bohemian artsy-fartsy and it's comfortable and casual.

The coffee comes from Montana Coffee Traders and their roasts are delicious. A drip coffee with dairy and sweetener of your choice runs around a buck-fifty for around 20 ounces. The mochas, lattes, and other espresso drinks are all really delicious.

They also have specialty drinks. In the summer I'd recommend the Frozen Vanilla Venus or the Chocolate Goddess Smoothie.

Their lunch menu includes sandwiches and salads and they're all pretty good and not bad on the wallet.

    For example....

    THE CLASSIC $4.00
Roast Beef, Black Forest Ham or Turkey
Served on a wheat, onion, or potato bun
Cheddar or Swiss Cheese, Mayo, Deli Mustard, Pickles, Onions, Lettuce, and/or Tomato
served with their Blue Chips and some Salsa or Hummus.

Early in the mornings they have fresh baked breads delivered and it's worth it to be there early enough to get a warm piece of pumpkin or zucchini bread.

Other things you can do at the Venus.
-Surf the internet on their free wi-fi
-Purchase souvenirs and gifts, and specialty books
-Purchase coffee and tea in bulk
-Purchase coffee and tea items such as a new french press
      -Purchase some art supplies
-View the art that is exhibited from time to time
-Attend an open mic or see some live music
-Talk to some locals and some out-of-towners and get to know some folks!

I hardly ever get a chance to go there because of my work schedule these days. The Venus isn't open very late on the weekends, which isn't the best for me, but when they used to be open later, the crowds didn't surface, so I understand.

Their hours are as follows (copied off the website)....
      .Monday - Friday: 7:00AM - 6:00PM
.Friday Nights: (extended for special events)
      .Saturday & Sunday: 8:00AM - 2:00PM

If you're looking for a relaxing or speedy coffee shop experience, avoid the Venus during lunchtime on weekdays because it's close enough to Butte High School to get an influx of students so usually every seat is taken and the wait for service is longer.

Anyway, with that in mind, it's a good idea to scoot on in and check out the Venus. You'll probably enjoy your time.
