After working hard for 3 weeks on the Spirit Lake reservation, we came here for a celebration and farewell dinner.
There is a reason why this place is called The View. It has panoramic views of Devil's Lake and wow it is absolutely beautiful. We made it in time for sunset and there are times like these when you know that life is so amazing.
And although the Lake has risen to dangerous levels and has wreaked havoc in this area, causing serious flooding and damage, one good thing that has evolved out of this terrible situation is that the is one of the greatest fishing spots in the Midwest. Devil's Lake is known for their excellent fishing and of course, excellent fishes. Walleye is abundant here and if you find yourself in Devil's Lake, you must try the walleye.
Naturally, I had the walleye. The menu is of course littered with meat options. Ugh. I had the walleye pan-broiled and it was excellent. It has the consistency of cod but more flavourful and much bigger. It is a good size fish, and I always end up having half a fish leftover. My friends had the crab-stuffed walleye and it would have been good minus the overpowering cream sauce.
For dessert, we all shared the chocolate lava cake. No complaints there. It also had a hint of mint flavor and later I figured out they had melted an Andes on top. A very unique spin on the cake and I liked it.
A great place to have a fancy dinner to celebrate and to say farewell to Spirit Lake.
