Oh Vito's, how I miss thee!
I used to get lunch here at least once a week when I worked in Cresson.
Their bread is amazing, so be sure to try a sub! My personal favorite is the BLT, next would be hot ham and cheese. Pizza is pretty good too and I loved the calzones.
Staff is friendly and their prices are great for how good the food is.
I believe I've said it before, but there are two types of great Italian restaurants, aren't there? Â You've got your fine, intimate dining trattoria-type places and then you've got your neighborhood good eatin' places. Â
This one clearly falls into the latter.
Vito's is a small town pizza place, the type of restaurant where the regulars all know each other. Â But don't let that put you off. Â We felt quite welcome here. Â Four of us stopped in here after spending all day exploring the nearby Allegheny Portage Railroad National Historic Site. Â Believe you me, we were quite hungry. Â We all opted to get individual dinners rather than ordering a pizza. Â Rick went for their specialty, spaghetti with clam sauce and he loved it. Â Praise from Caesar indeed! Â I went for the meat ravioli with marinara sauce. Â They say their sauce is homemade and it sure tastes like it. Â And if they buy their pasta, at least they buy it from a good source. Â Cindy and Bob ordered the chicken Parmesan and the veal Parmesan respectively and they seemed to enjoy it too. Â Oh, and their homemade bread was fantastic. Â
So yeah, it's a small town, nuthin' fancy place, but it's worth checking out if you're in the area.
To be completely honest, I haven't ever been a fan of their pizza products. I think that their sandwiches and salads are awesome, though. I was craving a cheese steak hoagie and new the place to get my fix! Their bread is awesome and good to the last bite. I haven't ever ordered a dinner, so I don't know if they are good or not. My advice, avoid the pizza and go with a sandwich or salad.
