I've heard some unpleasant things about W. Rick's, but I've yet to have any terrible experiences there. The only drawback I've ever found is the cramped walking space if you have to use the restrooms. That said, it's still very cozy and warm in it's own way.
The food has always been delicious. The fish has been cooked perfectly and I like that they have a grilled portabello "burger" option for vegetarians. I usually leave with leftovers for the next day because of the size of the courses, so I have no issues with pricing.

I really want to like this restaurant - I like the location, the fact that it is a small business and not a chain, servers are generally friendly, etc.  The menu presents a good variety and I have had some good meals there.

One of their menu selections is 'Popper Chicken' - chicken breast stuffed with a jalapeño cream cheese mixture, then fried.  When done right (and I mean done) it is great.  However, twice in two years, it has been served to me or someone in my party raw in the middle.  This happened again last night.  It was served - we cut it in the middle and there was a hunk of raw chicken (like right out of the refrigerator raw - slimy / pink).  Yuck.

The server was apologetic and took it back to the kitchen - offering to get another.  we did take it 'to go' (as it was about 15 minutes later and the rest of the party was done)

Now accidents happen - I know it... and I think it is how the restaurant handles the mistakes that make all the difference.  Personally, I think the kitchen supervisor or manager should have come over to offer apologies - and the meal (at least the raw-chicken-dish) should have been taken off the check.  we are talking about raw chicken ...

To the server's credit, she apologized and offered a free desert.  Good for her ... and it was appreciated; however, I think an error like sending out raw chicken is a bit bigger deal than a free desert. ( my opinion).

Sorry W. Ricks ... I think we're done for good this time.

    Meeeehhhhhhhhh

Place wasn't my favorite.  They had decent prices but the food just wasn't that good.
I ordered lamb and it was really TOUGH, like chew 10 times, then chew some more before it goes down. My Dad ordered baked fish it was really DRY but his sweet potato was AMAZING.  Mom ordered a Pork Chop and a baked potato and she loved hers.  So I'd stay away from the lamb & the fish, order the sweet potato and go for the pork chop and you should be much better than us!

I was in Butler for a zombie 5K race, joined up with some friend who live in the area for dinner, and they recommended W Rick's, mainly because of its location between their house and my hotel.

At first, I thought my GPS had made a mistake, as this is located in a pretty rural residential area, but then...there it was, just popping up out of nowhere!  Parking was pretty easy, and when we walked in there was no wait for a table, which was nice.  Our server came by pretty quickly and got our drinks and appetizer order, but seemed to forget to see if anyone wanted refills after that initial trip.   They also had a pretty limited beer and wine list.

We ordered potato skins as an app, but since one of the people in our party is lactose intolerant, asked for the cheese on the side.  What they brought us was a saucer covered in congealed melted cheese that had to be cut with a knife.....it wasn't very appetizing at all.   Oh well....moving on.

Of the five of us in the party, four of us got salad with our meal, one of whom selected raspberry vinaigrette dressing.  When it came out, her dressing was so thick it looked like jello......really, she needed a knife to spread it over her salad...it was pretty gross.   When the entrees came out, they looked appealing, which was a good start.  One of the guys got the "Mardi Gras Chicken & Pasta", which he said was good but had a little too much Cajun seasoning, a little too hot for his taste.  I got the "Monterrey Chicken and Pasta", which had an asiago cheese sauce.  It was good but VERY salty, to the point that I could only eat about half of it....especially given that my drink had run out about 3 bites into it and our server never came back to bring a refill.

Just one other odd observation........their restroom is WEIRD.  Seriously......you have to go through not one, not two, not even three, but FOUR doors just to pee!  And the hand dryer blows straight out at your chest, which makes drying your hands a little awkward.  I know this doesn't really affect the meal, but it was strange nonetheless.

UPDATE, original review: I've eaten here three times since they opened and have never been wowed.  The food, service and atmosphere are all just average.  They boast about their prime rib which, when I had it was the second worst I have ever had.  It was tough and chewy and appeared to be boiled rather than broiled. NEW REVIEW: I was contacted by the manager and asked to come back, so I did, 3 times, anonymously. Normally, I would not dream of doing this, but I wanted to be fair. Now, I have to say, if I were to re-review this establishment, it would be more of a detriment than an improvement, so I will just to stick with my original review, the food and service are all just average. I ate nothing  that I could say, "wow, that was really good."

Well, a few years ago I went there and it was fantastic. Now, it is bullcrap. In October of this year, I got their Oktoberfest platter and it was like processed garbage, also a baked potato I got was burned. (how in the heck can that happen?) A few days ago I got the buffalo chicken salad, and it took them 30 minutes to bring out. go here if you want bad food and bad service.
