We ate here for lunch today and were very favorably impressed with the food. Â The atmosphere is old-west and funky, which is fine for the setting. Â Most of the entrees are in the $8-9.50 range and they offer both western style and Mexican. Â We opted for the latter, shredded beef tacos and a chimichanga. Â Both were excellent, as well as the sides of refried beans and rice. Â Lots of good beers on tap and they make a good margarita, too. Â We look forward to a repeat visit.
Review Source:If you want to drive through some beautiful country and experience some local color, there is no better place than the Wagon Wheel Saloon. Â Some of our coworkers found this place on TripAdvisor earlier this year and have been coming every week for enough weeks to know the names of all the locals and have the server pour their drinks and put in their food order upon arrival.
Founded in 1937, some of the decor, which focuses on taxidermy and various metal artifacts, looks like it's been a part of the bar since it opened. Â We had a large group, so we took the booth/table just to your right as you walk in, leaving the large bar area to the locals. Â As we perused the menu we were entertained by RepoGames on Spike TV on the large screen TV. Â It fit very well with the atmosphere.
The menu is simple - bar food and Mexican favorites (apparently from secret family recipes). Â Since we get plenty of the Mexican food elsewhere, most of us opted for the bar food, including mozzarella sticks to start. Â I got the Wagon Wheel Burger - a good sized patty with bacon and cheese, served with lettuce, tomato, white onion, and pickles on the side. Â Burger was good - just what you want in a cheeseburger with bacon. Â Fries that came on the side were nothing special. Â Most of the entrees are less than $10.
They've got a full bar with 4 beers on tap (Dos Equis, Negro Modelo, Tuscon Blond by Barrio, and one more that I can't remember...). Â They've also got others in bottles and cans. Â
There's also a pool table if you're so inclined. Â Be warned that some of the locals will probably challenge you to a game for a drink and won't take no for an answer.
