Cajun in the country! All around OK, and a decent value!
My dad went to school in Lafayette, LA, and I lived in NOLA for years/travel back multiple times a year so I feel that my judgements of this establishment might be a bit critical in some respects.
The oyster sandwich is served on a bun(they also have po-boys on french bread), and comes with 5 decent sized oysters on it. That being said, the couple times I've tried this they aren't as clean tasting as the oysters in NOLA. Of course these are coming out of a tub, and aren't going to be nearly as fresh. It's just a bit of a let down. Given that this is a rural town in Missouri I think they are doing okay. ***
Fried alligator bites. Chunks of gator that are fried well. No complaints here. *****
Gumbo/Jambalaya... They seemed to have been out the couple times I/one of my friends have tried to order it. *
I've never seen anything unsightly happen, but I've heard from other locals about bugs... That being said, it's a small town and people do enjoy gossiping for no reason at all.
They just did a huge renovation, and I'm excited to check back in and see if they've brought themselves up to a 4 star level.
