Went to West End Pub with my mother who is handicapped. While they don't have a facility that is handicap accessible (far from it), they assisted us in finding an appropriate table with room for her walker. We even had a nice view of the Bridge of Flowers from our table. We dined early to avoid the crowd and were glad we did because it gets very busy. Â Food was wonderful - we had the special lobster salad in an avocado, YUM! Interesting cocktail offerings and helpful staff. This is a nice place to eat, cozy and friendly. Food is wonderful too! I will definitely recommend this to friends! The 3 of us ate, $63 including cocktails - not bad! We'll be back!
Review Source:I came with a group of 8 people on a motorcycle tour of the area. Â The place is small enough that we had to be seated separately, which wasn't a problem. Â The staff waited on us quickly and were attentive to our needs. We all enjoyed our food, which ranged from all over the menu, from burgers to salads and soup. Â
The building has a unique layout and history, which makes it fun to explore.
West End Pub was a perfect compliment to our day.
Great local spot for a warm meal and a drink. Friendly staff, cool old building, super New England-y and totally haunted. As I was peeing, a cool wind swept through the room and the lights flickered four times. Then, the ghosts of Ann Putnam and Tituba confronted me from deep within the bathroom mirror and told in me hushed whispers that they were, in fact, witches from Salem. The bathroom also has a cool marking where the flood water rose up and it feels very much like a ship captains house. Great burger and meat pie. Most of the food is pretty heavy.. don't go for a salad- but hits the spot on a cold winter day. They also have t.v. if you want to watch the game. Not to mention it's in the heart of one of the cutest towns in the whole wide world.
Review Source:Great food and location! We were greeted right away and we asked to sit outside and were seated within a few minutes. Chilie, beef burrito and black angus steak burger were delicious! We loved how they had local beers and made their own bread. The purple pineapple drink was very good! Even though we were kind of full
We ordered dessert, red white and blue cheesecake was perfect the very berry pie and salted caramel cake were also good.
I we lived closer we would go everyday. Next time we ate in the area we will be back!! Thanks for a great lunch!
We're from Boston and visited West End Pub on Saturday at the peak of leaf season on a PERFECT fall day and the place was hopping. Â We were on our way to Mass MoCA and decided to grab lunch in Shelburne Falls on our way to North Adams. Â Yes we had to wait about 45 min for a table for four (most tables are deuces) but the hostess was attentive, and pleasant the whole time and all the staff seemed to be having a great time even though there were more customers than they could possible welcome.
So, we walked around out side on the Bridge of Flowers, chatted with other visitors, petted the dogs walking by and soon our table was ready. And it was worth the wait.
I had the special sandwich of the day: Ham, sautéed apples and onions served open faced on focaccia (or wheatberry) under melted gruyere and some sauce that I can't remember the details on.  Wow!  Delicious, and I chose the side of broccoli slaw that I'm going to attempt to recreate at home this week.  My fellow diners had the cod fish sandwich and the tuna wrap which was grilled ahi (rare!! like it should be) with a wasabi ginger sauce, and the turkey club with the most delicious sweet potato fries.  Oh and the young man who was our server was adorably sweet and pleasant and again, very attentive, even though they were super busy.
This is a great, casual welcoming place with the owner in the kitchen swinging pots and pans with the rest of the staff... always a good sign.
Check out West End Pub when you're in Shelburne Falls!
Fancy, no. But great food and service. The place is most certainly a bit tattered and torn, may have seen better days, but it was just really good food and really good service. We sat in the "dining area" next to the bar and next to the back deck entrance, so there was a lot of traffic. Not a large place, but a homey feel. {The bathroom is through the kitchen and down the stairs.} I ordered the apple, bacon, and cheddar cheese sandwich since all the ingredients must be local. Ate that with a local corn whiskey/apple cider brew. Both were fantastic. My wife ordered one of the soups and it was definitely a meal. She ate that with a ginger drink that was potent. Absolutely real ginger in that wake up call. I think in the summer the deck is open for a great view of the river, but this weekend it was covered in plastic. Finally the waiter was on the ball, polite, friendly, and exactly someone who you want working your table. One small 32" inch TV on the wall of a six-seat bar. Unfortunately we did not have room for dessert.
Review Source:Saturday night 'bout 8:30 (stop serving food  by 9 ish) on the deck. A little tight, but worth it.  Everything was excellent. Food: Thick, juicy burger, cooked to order on excellent, sturdy, fresh roll. Tasty turkey pesto panini on thick fresh bread with really good broccoli slaw (though too "wet")  Beer: local Berkshire Brewings Drayman's porter, only $4.50 for pint filled to top (usually pay $5.50+ for Guinness). The food was HOT (cept slaw), including the excellent fries. Service was fast and friendly. This was the best casual/pub dining meal I can remember from start to finish. So glad they reopened after being wiped out by last August (2011) flood.
Review Source:Tiny pub/restaurant next to the Bridge of Flowers. My dad and I were walking by and saw a lot of people dining on the porch so thought we'd try the place out. The employees are very nice. There are only a handful of tables inside and a handful outside. Sitting outside was lovely since it's next to the river and the Bridge of Flowers. They serve salalds, soups, sandwiches, burgers, wraps, paninis, etc. Prices are good. Food was good too! I had a really tasty Peach Prosecco! Get one!
Review Source:Soup. Soup. Soup. I've never had a bad meal here, but make sure that you get some soup. Even if it's just a cup. It's excellent, creative, and, as with most of the menu, very fresh and local. They can even tell you which farm the ingredients came from.
Even in the summer there are often cold soups. I think I had a minted pea soup last summer. I know, cold soup is something that you might wrinkle up your face while you read it on the menu, but try it. On a warm summer's day, it turned out to be very nice.
Charming little spot that overlooks the river and the bridge of flowers.
Excellent pub fare in a charming setting in Shelburne Falls, MA adjacent the beautiful Bridge of Flowers. Generous portions of well prepared food. Servers were solicitous. In all a really delightful experience.
The food - We ordered a simple chips and dip to start; the dip was a layered guacamole, salsa and sour cream with a large plate of crisp, fresh tortilla chips. BBC Steel Rail and a glass of Sav. Blanc were prromptly delivered, well-poured and of the correct temperature.
For dinner I had the Maple Chipotle Salmon which was served with a side of green beans and mashed potatoes. Sides had great flavor and were cooked correctly - crisp and flavorful beans are a big must for me, and these were very good. Salmon was very good, a little bit too cooked for my taste, but I am a fuss-pot about fish and like it still swimming a little.
My husband ordered the Surf and Turf. His steak was properly prepared; tender and juicy and with excellent flavor. Shrimp were very good - not overdone, which is so easy to do with shrimp. He had the same sides and agrees that the green beans were perfectly done and the potatoes were creamy and with great flavor.
I have read some complaints here about the restroom, and cannot say that I agree. "Through the kitchen" is a simple straight shot to a set of stairs that spiral down to a single-stall toilet. The stairs were tidy and decorated with seasonal pumpkins. The restroom itself was clean with readily available soap and paper products. Nothing to whine about, certainly!
Just came back from a day trip to Shelburne Falls. Unfortunately, many of the shops and restaurants in town were closed during the weekday. Â We had a choice of two full service restaurants: The Village Cafe and The West End Pub. Â As I had done some research into the town prior to leaving, we decided not to patron the Village Cafe, as it got poor reviews. Â I had not reviewed this pub, but it was busy and had a great location. Â We sat on the porch with a great view of the river and The Bridge of Flowers. Â Our server was extremely attentive and very sweet. The menu was large ranging from salads to soups, sandwiches, entrees, lunch specials, drink specials, and desserts. We ordered the sweet potato fries with maple dijon dipping sauce. Â It was good, but a little pricey for the serving size ($8). I ordered the half sandwich - soup combo with grilled cheese and tomato dill vegetable soup. Â It also came with a side. Â I chose a salad of fresh greens and carrots. Â It's hard to get any of these items wrong, but I just thought they were all exceptionally tasty. Â Â The grilled cheese was served on wheat berry bread with lots of cheddar. Â The soup was filled with spoonfuls of chick peas, onions, and corn. Delicious! My husband ordered the fish and chips, and it was cooked well. We shared the chocolate lava cake and it was pretty good, served with ice cream, chocolate sauce, and whipped cream.
Review Source:The west end pub has a great location right next to the bridge of flowers with outdoor seating on a deck overhanging the deerfield river.  The servers were very friendly and the service was good too.  I had the special sandwich when I went which was a pulled pork sandwich and it was one of the best pulled pork sandwiches  I've had in awhile. Also I got broccoli slaw for a side which was fantastic with dried cranberries that gave it a nice sweet kick to it.  All in all I'll go again especially for the cute waitresses.
Review Source:Really friendly service, bland, mediocre food, a beautiful view of the river (and outdoor seating!), dirty cups and bathroom, and moderate prices comprise our experience at the West End Pub. When we arrived, it was early for lunch -- 11:30. Nonetheless, we were the only customers, and the staff people were looking out the window, hovering around the front when we arrived. Never a good sign. Â
We were seated outside, with a lovely view of the Bridge of Flowers (in full bloom!), and the views of the hills and river. They have Trivial Pursuit cards in a cup for entertainment while you wait, and rose plants on each table - really cute. I noticed right away that both of our water cups had food stuck on them, and that our chairs did as well. Â Nonetheless, we thought we'd give this a shot.
My partner had the chicken roll-up with pineapple salsa; the flavors did not go together, and she couldn't eat it. I had the bbq chicken sandwich with 3 small pieces of chicken, too much cheese, and lettuce and tomato. It came with bacon, but I don't eat bacon. The taste was bland; the chicken did not taste fresh; and, the cheese was tasteless. The roll, however, was on was wonderfully fresh. I had an upset stomach after my meal, and I only ate half.
The views are lovely, but the food is not. They do have an extensive drink menu, which looks fun. West End Pub could be a winner with better food.
There's really nothing special about this place. The food is mediocre, the interior is dumpy and noisy (from trucks rumbling by just feet from the open front door), and it takes eons for the food to arrive. The view from the deck is fine, but noisy (from an exhaust pipe).
The two of us had lunch here about noon today. It was quite busy. The wait for our sandwiches was about half-an-hour, and we were served before another table of six that was seated before us. A third table of guests waited about half-an-hour for an appetizer. The kitchen just can't keep up with demand, although the service is good.
Neither of our sandwiches were anything special, although the ingredients were fresh. None of the flavors seem to coalesce. I had fries as a side, and they were lukewarm. The cole slaw was chunky and not balanced in flavors. The iced tea was dilute.
If you are planning to eat when the health food store across the street, Mc Cuskers', is open, think about grabbing lunch there. They have fresh salads, homemade soups, made-to-order sandwiches, a pleasant seating area, and a good attitude.
Was here for dinner and I really liked the location. Â They're right in town and next to the Bridge of Flowers. Â They've got outdoor seating right next to Deerfield River. Â I wasn't blown away by their food but it was good. Â I got the barbecued salmon for $15. Â The BBQ sauce made the salmon steak tangy. Â It came with potatoes although when I ordered mashed, they gave me fried potato quarters. Â A nice place to spend time with friends and enjoy yourselves. Â Interestingly, they seem to have a lot of good looking women working here.
Review Source:Beautiful location-- the bridge of flowers is just about the nicest view you can have in town. It's a small dining room-- and most of the tables outside are for two people- yet they crammed our party of three into one.
We went here for lunch, and the food was pretty good, nothing incredible, but a decent menu for lunch, with fresh salads, a few interesting soups-- I had curry cauliflower carrot (as opposed to the other special, corn chowder-- they were just trying to make alliteration, obviously), which while satisfying to my starving stomach, wasn't anything special. My companions had some interesting and delicious sandwiches and a bowl of hearty chili, though.
On a nice night while dressed in some warmer clothes, sitting outside could be quite nice--- the dinner menu looked more extensive, while still nicely priced (there was a shrimp scampi that was calling my name-- if only I was there for dinner).
The kitchen is quite small-- you need to walk directly through it to reach the bathroom-- so my only concern that at a busier time, service could be slower.
After a long car ride with my girlfriend's family we stopped in Shelburne Falls for lunch. Â I think the West End Pub is one of the only restaurants in town other than a small cafe and a few pizza joints. Â
It sits directly next to the "Bridge of Flowers" and has a simple menu of American food: burgers, salads, pastas, etc. Â The capacity here is very low and a party of eight can be seated but not together. Â Patio seating is limited to four people, no more. Â
Like everyone visiting Shelburne Falls the first question you'll probably ask yourself is, "where's the bathroom?" Â The bathroom is located through the kitchen down a winding staircase across from a freezer. Â It's a single stall that locks it's sliding door with a latch.
Once you sit down and look over the menu your waiter will come over taken a drink order and explain the specials they have for the day. Â With our large group our waiter explained that he was going to put one order in after the next. Â Due to the "small kitchen" they have he said it would be faster to space the orders to ensure quicker service. Â This made me a bit nervous but surprisingly everything came out in a timely manner and accurately. Â Almost everyone got a sandwich or burger of some kind. Â Served up in baskets with a side order of steak-cut or sweet potato fries. Â Fresh bottles of Heinz Ketchup became depleted in seconds. Â
I ordered a Buffalo Chicken Sandwich which I really enjoyed. Â The chicken patty was slightly larger than the bun and came soaked in buffalo sauce and ranch dressing. Â Looking back I should have asked for extra napkins but it was actually a lot cleaner than other sandwiches I've had elsewhere. Â Everyone commented on the great portion of fries that came with their sandwiches.
This was a great stop for lunch and if you have to wait a bit before a table becomes available at least you have the "Bridge of Flowers" next door to kill some time.
We had dinner at the West End Pub and I thought both the service and food was really good. Highly attentive (and nice to the kids, which doesn't always happen) and the food was all very fresh and tasty. It also has a great view of the Bridge of Flowers (which is well worth a stroll). Good microbrews on tap, too!
Review Source:We stop at the West End Pub during a nice drive out through the Berkshires. We had heard about the flower bridge in Shelburne Falls and thought it would be a nice stop. Â We had been driving a while and needed a nice place for lunch and there was the West End Pub right and the end of the Bridge of Flowers with a nice outdoor seating area over looking the bridge.
We were greeted in a nice manner and seated overlooking the bridge. Â That was the end of our nice time at the West End Pub. Â The waitress that we had lacked any sort of personality or enthusiasm for what she was doing. Â She got us our drinks and took our order and then forgot to put them in I think. We received our soups about twenty minutes later which was fine it was french onion so there was time needed to melt the cheese. Â The soup was good and tasty. Â However the waitress then did not check on us again and we waited over 50 minutes to get our meal. Which was by the way a chicken parm and pulled pork sandwich. Â
The part that made me the most upset was that the waitress did not come to check on us or let us know where we stood with our order. It was the person that was clearing the tables that we had to ask to see where our order was. The finally the waitress came out and apologized and said it would be a few minutes the kitchen got overwhelmed. Â Fine the kitchen got busy the weird thing is it was only the tables that had our waitress that seemed to be having the problem. Their was another waitress and all her table seemed to get their food.
Overall the food was mezza-mezza and the service was horrendous. My advice get a wait staff that has some sort of personality and wants to do a good job. Â We plan to visit the area again and will not be stopping at the West End Pub.
