This restaurant should be closed. It is terrible. Weird odor when entering. Broccoli on salad bar had mold. Had to spit it out. The radishes were bitter and off tasting. The best items on the buffet were mediore. Fried chicken drumstick was so old the meat had separated into dry strands of the muscle. The fish was cold. The sliced roast had the appearance and texture of shoe leather. The 6 oz steak cooked medium-well was the worst tasting steak I have attempted to eat in my entire fifty years. Not only was the source of the meat questionable by the taste, the texture was as if cut from the center of an area bounded by the tough tissue which encases the muscles of mammals.
The food is placed in a window were it sits until the server finds the time to retrieve it. I guess that is an attemp to gain a tip for the server. The cook, who was not wearing gloves was seen tossing the steaks from hand to hand. He was not wearing a hairnet, cap or apron. Perhaps in a town this small, cleanliness and proper kitchen procedures are not required.
The only positive comment I can make is
in regard to the manager. He very graciously refunded our money.
The othe eating establishments that we saw in town were fast food restaurants.
If there is a large enough population and not a strong local competitor, this may be a good location for another chain which serves good homestyle food. They certainly need not worry about the Western Sizzlin in Malvern.
