Been to the Whitmore Lake Tavern many times. Enjoy The wait staff and lake view. My only complaint has been the quality of food. Prices are going up but unfortunately the consistency factor of getting a good meal each time you visit is running on the downside. The fish dinner in particular is an embarrassing presentation in the fact that it is touted as one of the restaurants signature meals. My last experience proved to be a chewy/grisley over fried adventure at best. The portions are small. This restaurant has a lot going for it on several fronts. The food factor is lacking.  Sometimes you have to step back and take a painful look at your kitchen capabilities and make some hard decisions.  Now, despite my opinion, the one plate that this establishment has consistently excelled in would be their ribs. A+ in my book. If all of their meals were on the same par, Whitmore lake would have to build an airport to keep up with the traffic flow to the tavern!

Ordered the jalapeño catfish and thought it was great. My side was squash which also tasted wonderful. Only complaint was too much liquid on the squash which ran all over the plate and made the fish breaking soggy. Easily rectified by tilting the plate but, certainly something that could be improved. Always a good time here.

This our local favorite. Great service, consistently good food and fair prices.

We had a random explore Michigan kind of afternoon and wound up at beautiful and large Whitmore Lake.  The Tavern looks quite divey from the outside, and kind of lives up to that look on the inside, but I really enjoyed myself!  They have great prices on drinks-- $8 for a pitcher of Bud Light and had a 1/2 apps deal going since there was a football game on.  We took advantage of the deal and ordered spinach and artichoke dip and it was really impressive.  It came with tri-colored tortilla chips that were super tasty and the serving size of the dip was insanely huge.  And very very yummy!  Our burgers were thoroughly average.  I wish we hadn't gotten them "deluxe" (+cole slaw and fries) because the dip was more than enough food!  The fries are the crinkle cut ones that I don't like so I ate about 3 of them, thus demonstrating a rare feat of not eating every single thing on my plate :)

The view is beautiful, the drinks are cheap, and the apps were half off.  What's not to like?  :)

Your dine-in experience is usually great: great food, great service. However, for childfree couples this is often marred by the constant presence of screamers. Take-out is where the Tavern is hit-or-miss: if not overly greasy, there are bad veggies to deal with or dishes prepared with more haste than care. If you are lucky enough to drown out the din of the crotchfruit with copious amounts of alcohol, then the Tavern won't fail you. The staff is wonderful and seemingly immune to the noise.

Having fled from nearby Zukey Lake Tavern after a terrible experience I had really low expectations and still needed to eat.  My goal was outside grub and a view of water.  Already in a sour mood the outside appearance of the tavern didn't really fill me with too much hope.  I was wonderfully surprised however.

The inside isn't divey but not really fancy either. The outdoor deck isn't much bigger than what some homes might have, but it makes for a more intimate experience with better views of the lake. Far better IMHO than the Costco on a roof next to a lake vibe at Zukey anyways.

My mood took a great jump up when I ordered a great on tap 22 oz beer at a decent price and my friend ordered a delicious bloody Mary.  Two great drinks at decent prices had already exponentially bested the experience I had jest fled from.

I ordered a Polish sausage special and my friend got a fish dinner.  First off they were happy to substitute the soup that came with the meal for a dinner salad.  A simple matter but it's nice when a place doesn't act like you asked for a side of filet mignon instead of fries when you ask for a simple lateral substitution.

My meal was excellent, seriously the most happy I've been with a meal in ages.  There was a very healthy portion of sausage and it was cooked to perfection with the edges all crispy.  It was accompanied by a terrific red skin potato salad that was obviously homemade.  The really excellent final touch of this meal was the bowl of fresh fruit that accompanied it, the perfect thing to balance off the heavy sausage and potato salad. The fruit bowl had perfectly ripened strawberries, cantaloupe, honeydew and blackberries.  Who does this at a little bar on a lake?  It was great and I wish I knew how to buy honeydew that sweet and delicious on my own!  All this for $9. NINE BUCKS!!!  A fantastic well balanced high quality meal for almost the same price as one pisspoor excuse of a drink at Zukey Lake Tavern (can you tell I am holding a grudge).

My friends fish dinner was well prepared as well.

This exactly scratched my itch for what I wanted to do.  Eat some good food and drink at decent price outside and watch the lake, the people, and cars leisurely stroll by.

I have tried every Restaurant/bar in the Whitmore lake area and nothing has impressed me to any extreme until now. The Whitmore Lake Tavern is surprisingly excellent. It's a small town style bar restaurant with a beautiful location overseeing the water. They provide a very peaceful environment to sit down and eat. After passing on their ribs and steak the first few times and going with the fish sandwich and corned beef Reuben which are both the awesome, I decided to give the ribs and steak a chance.  To say the least I was not dissapointed. The service is what tops it off. They are all very friendly especially Linda (I could be wrong on the name).  All I know is I will be going back often.

Came here twice. Food is just OK. The owners are great and the bar could be fun on a nice day. The lake perch was deep fried too much, the whitefish was too mushy. Ribs are great and the filet was excellant.

I've been to Whitmore Lake Tavern quite a few times, and it has been consistently good. The food is pretty standard as far as bar fare goes, but I haven't ever had anything there I didn't like.  The pizza is tasty and they keep the Parmesan in the fridge when it's not in use. The service is great overall -- the people are really friendly. They have stayed open late to feed us, and when we rode our motorcycles out and got caught in the rain they suggested we park them under the awning to keep them dry. Prices are reasonable too. Overall, it's a favorite local spot.
