Perfectly reasonable truck stop diner outside King City. They do the usual diner fare: burgers, eggs, pies and coffee. Friendly service, casual atmosphere, clean and classic space.

Being a truck stop, they also have a mini-mart, gas station and well-priced rooms. Everything looks cleaner and better maintained than one would expect.

We stop here at least once a week on the way to So Cal. Good home cooking'!  They have a "Killer burger" it has a bit of everything on it!!
The I side is nothing fancy - who cares?! The staff is very friendly and the service is good!  Definitely a regular stop for people who frequent HWY 101.
    Give it a shot!

I'm a local, but I come here every once and a while. If you come in the morning I highly suggest a glass of orange juice, not only for how amazing it tastes, but to watch the machine they use to make it. I am in love with their French toast it is my favorite. The service is a bit slow at times, it just depends on the time of day. Over all it's a great place very proud of their community and regulars.

Stopped here yesterday on our way back from LA. It looked a little sketchy from the outside, but decided to give it a try. This is indeed a truck stop, and the only other customer at 2pm was an obvious truck driver. We sat down in an empty booth, and were waited on by charming server who did indeed seem to be family.

Everybody enjoyed their food - grilled cheese, burgers, taco salad. Coffee came in a large mug and was good. Cold drinks came in glass jars which were fun. Prices were reasonable, and I would definitely come back again on a future trip.

Truck stop diner for sure. Welcoming, great service and diner food. I had the French Dip and it was great. The cream pies, though homemade, taste like jello pudding in a pie crust - so/so. Love the big mason jars for the drinks. If you have to eat in King City when you're just passing through (like me) then this is the place!

This is a truckers diner. Down home feel with friendly service the Sunday morning we came in.
I had the wildhorse special omelette without the bacon. It had mushrooms, avocado, and cheese. This was the "special"  and it was ok. But it wasn't worth the $11.75. Another guy I came with had the chicken fried steak, he said it was really good. Everything else was average at best. Pancakes were bland. Biscuits and gravy ok. This place is not better than a Denny's though. Maybe would've given 2.5 stars if I could but I couldn't say 3 stars.

A nice truck stop diner. This is a good breakfast spot. The best thing about it is that they have the local hot sauce; Pepper Plant, in all four varieties. I love this hot sauce and was excited that they have it for sale too.
The food is good classic American food. The hot sauce bumps the rating up one more star.

Not a review of the food, but of the class (or lack thereof).

This place has a sign advertising WiFi. When you get there they charge for it however. Yet another business that doesn't get it.

Wildhoarse - It's not 1996. Start taking care of customers instead of taking advantage. It works wounders.

They have a tasty roast beef dip w/ caramelized onions and mozzarella.  This is a friendly, warm place to stop when you're in the middle of a road trip.

If it's just you and one other person stuck driving on the 101 and you want some delicious diner in the middle of nowhere....come here and get a delicious meat lovers omelette!! Split it because if the omelette doesn't destroy you, the three pancakes we ordered will.

Probably some of the best hashbrowns I've had in a really long time. The omelette is great as always...dripping in cheese and bleeding out every meat known to the diner foodie.

The best part was hearing my boyfriend talk about never eating pancakes because he doesn't like sweet things and we end up nearly finishing up because they were so hot and soft and perfect with the syrup.

    Don't get the stuffed jalapenos.

The service is great and when we visited in November, they decorated all the seats at the bar with adorable giant santa hats.

I loved Wildhorse- such an amazing place to stop on a hot road trip.  AC blasting inside, you can see the cook & he has a sweet curly mustache, amazing service, almost feels like you're not in California in a good way.  Their name sums up their environment, and I thought it was pretty good cafe food, get the trucker burger with bacon & cheese on a french roll, and while you're at it try their baked beans.

This a charming little truck stop and should have been a wonderful find. Our server was very nice and I loved the wood panling interior, it had a very "warm" feeling. Unfortunately the food was not too good. I had sliced tri-tip which I asked for medium rare and was assured that it could be done. It came out boot leather grayish brown and I mentioned that the cook had a warped sense of medium rare. My wife had a well done burger that was supposed to be medium and the In-laws had a mediocre Salisbury Steak.  My daughter menjoyed her breakfast of French Toast and scrambled eggs with a side of bacon.

Breakfast might be the trick to enjoying the fine little dinner.

On our way north we usually stop here and love the food and service. Today though dad's pancakes weren't fluffy and they had run out of sugarless syrup. Normally you make do but he is diabetic. He always appreciated that here he could have pancakes and get sugar free syrup. Not today. He also had to ask for his coffee refills. Not the service we are used to. On the other hand my wildhorse special omelette was awesome! Mushrooms, bacon, avocado with mozzarella on top! Their salsa is yummy! Hopefully next tine our girl Lorie will be working.

Great food...my husband enjoys eating here.  The waitresses are friendly and the homemade jam is wonderful!  Whenever we are in this area we stop.

Right along US-101 at Wildhorse Rd.(Exit 278), 4 miles south of King City - NOT where our GPS or Google Maps puts it.

Burgers here use Hearst Ranch (San Simeon) beef. I got the BBQ Trucker Burger, my wife got the California (avocado) Burger, both were very good. No heartburn after the meal, just comfortably full as we hit the road again. Our son got spaghetti with red sauce, but said it tasted like BBQ.

Very friendly service; it feels family owned. Little quirky touches like Rudolph the red-nosed elk on the wall for Christmas set it apart form the usual anonymous road food restaurant.  Stop in if you're hungry in King City.

Both me and my wife came in with moderate expectations, and left more than moderately disappointed. Service was great, food was far from the same. Go elsewhere for breakfast.

We stopped here on the way back from UCSB, about halfway to San Francisco. Old fashioned looking place but a huge menu selection. My bacon chicken sandwich was tasty as was the onion rings appetizer. My parents got milkshakes to go which were apparently good. I had an Arnold Palmer with sweetened tea, not bad.

Stopped here on the way back from the lake, I hopped on yelp to find the closest place and this is what came up! Its not much to look at but who cares the food was great! I had the cheese sticks, and the tri-tip sandwich with ranch of course! ...Our waitress was super sweet! and overall it was just a very homey and cozy lil place! the only thing not up to par was the cheesecake, I took a bite and had to spit it back out. It tasted like frozen waxy chesse..quite nasty! But overall a great little find if your in the area!

Really good food and friendly service! Glad we stopped despite the questionable appearance outside.

The service is what really made the visit great. We had left a restaurant due to bad service and when we got to Wildhorse, we were greeted by a friendly hostess, and our server (am so sorry can not remember her name) was great. She was timely and friendly. The food was good and everyone was happy. Then after the meal, since it was Easter Sunday, our server brought a couple of Easter baskets to the table for the kids to pick a couple toys. The gift shop area is also nice. I will eat there again.

Truck stops are the best!  Not only do you get good food, but you get a host of genuine personality and an equal amount of eye candy.

I stopped in here on the way up to Santa Cruz and had a late breakfast.  Heading northbound on the 101, it's on the west side of the freeway and you will see signs for it 20 miles  before.

We ate outside since I had dog in tow.  There are picnic benches, but it's not really the ideal place to eat with all the exhaust fumes that you can smell from the trucks and gas station next door, not to mention the fragrant dumpster out back.  There weren't any bug lights, too, and that was probably the most annoying, but it all just added to the truck stop ambiance.

Our server was this sweet lady who was kind enough to adjust the awning for us since we would have been eating in the blazing sun otherwise.

I ordered coffee, 2 eggs over medium, fruit, and an english muffin.  The bf ordered french toast, friend #1 ordered french toast and bacon, and friend #2 ordered the chorizo and eggs.

The restaurant was busy but our food came out fast.  The chorizo was a hit and so was the french toast.  I enjoyed my breakfast as well except that if I had known that the fruit was canned, I might not have ordered it.  But then I just thought of it as a piece of kindergarten nostalgia on my plate and ate it with a smile.

While we ate, we looked on at all of the cool semi trucks and imagined the lives of all the drivers.  It was great.

As our server handed us our respective checks, she asked if we wanted to take with us a Wildhorse Cafe mug, which came in 5 or so different colors, for $6.99.  We all passed, but she attempted a kind sale.

We signed our bills and she bid us a fun journey.  This stop added to it for sure.
