Other reviews seem a little over the top, Â we didn't really find this restaurant that great. Â
We were pretty disappointed after reading all the 4-5 star reviews. Â
Food was OK...but we have had much better for less money...in other small towns in NorCal. Â Service pretty bad and not very friendly. Â We were only people in restaurant in late afternoon. Â I wasn't sure they wanted us to eat there. Â
No tea offered with meal. Â Only a fork to eat with...no chopsticks. Â Don't remember serving spoons being provided either. Â Only condiment on the table was soy sauce. Â And on top of that, the egg drop soup was a awful yellow color. Â Wasn't sure it was ok to eat based on the color. Â The taste was pretty blah but I didn't have any after effects.
It's dinnertime and I'm in the middle of nowhere in northern California. Where can I get dinner that's not a chain restaurant and is actually delicious? Â In Williams.
The food is great Chinese and the portions are large. The sauces are grat and the meat dishes are standouts, especially pork. They also do a nice egg foo young. This is not some random highway Chinese-American cuisine, and it's not delicious just because you're hungry after a long drive--it's the real deal and it's worth driving the extra hour just to get to the Williams Chinese Restaurant.
I judge pretty harshly and the only reason I didn't give this place 5 stars is maybe the ambience and the all-about business staff. However, those are small potatos because overall this place is pretty darn fantastic for being in the middle of nowhere. Â The potsticker sauce is heavenly as is the cashew chicken. Â Which says a lot for me as I normally don't like nuts in my food. Â I am really impressed with this place. Â I hate to read reviews, then go to the place and wonder what the hello people were talking about when they gave a two star facility four or five. Â But this place....definitely worth going to!
Review Source:So we live 30 minutes to the closest restaurant in the boon docks of California. Â Thankfully for my boyfriend and I the closest restaurant is William's Chinese Restaurant. Â
Definitely Try:
Pan Seared Noodles
BBQ Spare Ribs
Yang Chow Fried Rice
Ma Po Tofu
General Gao's Chicken
But anything you have will surely be amazing and served by a wonderfully accommodating and friendly staff! Â WE LOVE WILLIAM'S CHINESE RESTAURANT!!!!
Clean and busy. Good quality here and definitely quite a selection. No MSG headache . Fresh fish and not overcooked. The house egg foo young was easily the best I've ever had. I took my 90 year old mother there and we both agreed this was a shining gem in a small town. We live in the Bay Area and have numerous Chinese restaurants available. This one would still rank among the best if it were located there
Review Source:Good surprise indeed. Â Who would have thought of finding a decent Chinese restaurant in such a small town?! Â We were traveling along I-5 and my folks were sick of fast food and they needed some Chinese food since they are Chinese. Â
We enjoyed the food. Â We ordered a seafood soup, Walnut Shrimp, 2 sizzling plates and they were all very good. Â My folks are from Hong Kong, so they have pretty high standard in terms of rating Chinese food. Â They were surprised to find this restaurant to serve decent Chinese food. Â
The waiters were very friendly and chatty. Â They even offered our 2 kids some Chinese yogurt drink after we already settled our bill.
This Chinese restaurant is pretty darn good. My uncle even went as far as to say one of the best he has eaten.
I was actually surprised how tasty it actually was because its in the middle of no where. Â Our food came out rather quick, and there was TONS. I ordered the orange chicken meal. I was able to split my food over two meals. Id eat here again.
Its TRUE  I was raised going to Chinese restaurants like this one. It's hard to believe in little Williams that this is worth the stop if your traveling on the 5 freeway in the middle of no where. GO THERE!! The best Egg Foo Yung  ever  truly amazing. This is a for real place, I notice a few plates as I walked through, all were Beautiful  they were all Empty when I left. My only problem I wish i were with more people so we could have tried more and of course they were in my town.  This place is must.
Thanks Chef Rory
This place is getting 5 stars due to being a food-filled oasis in the middle of an absolute wasteland. Having traveled up and down through northern California quite a few times now, decent (non chain restaurant) food for a good price is hard to come by. This place provides just that. Basically, take the five stars as follows: if you must find yourself in Williams (or within a 50 mile radius of it on the highway), go HERE and not to the MacDonald's across the street. You'll be glad.
Overall, the offerings are pretty standard, but tasty. There are plenty of things on the menu besides deep-fried, batter-smothered, Americanized nonsense. Get the sweet and sour soup (note: contains pork). And the potstickers (also porkalicious... don't recall that they have veggie ones). Actually, the vegetarian offerings are a little underwhelming, just in terns of thrill-factor, though they do make a reasonably tasty homestyle tofu. Noodles notably absent too. Otherwise, you really can't go too wrong. The sauces are generally decent and the ingredients taste fresh.
Last bit of praise: good bang for your buck. You get a crapload of food. The soap, potstickers, and an entree to share easily overfed two very gluttonous people.
Good food and good value. We went here while staying in Williams, driving up from LA to Eureka. We decided to try it because our fellow Yelpers gave good reviews. Well not dissapointment there. The soup, steamed pot stickers, sesame chicken all good as well as the veggie chowmein. The water is just tap and not good. Service was ok. But we fed two adults and 3 kids for $30. Can't beat that!
Review Source:What a nice surprise. Â Other reviewers gave this little chinese restaurant good ratings so we decided to try it. Â Excellent. Â Typical dishes. Â Served with fresh ingredients and tangy sauces. Â We had orange beef and mandarin chicken. Â In most places the sauces for these two dishes would be about the same. Â Here each sauce was distinctively different and complimented the dish. Â Pork fried rice was very tasty. Â Good attentive service. Â Great I-5 dining at reasonable prices. Â You won't be disappointed. Â The 5 star rating is based on the area, and this is by far the best I have had in a little town chinese restaurant. Â Don't think you are going to experience true 5 star dining. Â grins.
Review Source:This is about a 1.5 hour drive from where i live, we go up that area to go fishing.
What can i say, looking from the outside, and places around, its like a truck stop area...=x...but because this is my dad's friend's restraunt, we always come here to eat when we are around, Â i LOVE their sesame chicken, its a must eat when i go here.
