The Wineyard rates highly on all attributes: service, selection, price, clientele, and quality/ variety of tastings.
Every Thursday, a winemaker visits and pours a tasting flight.  Lisa and Stacy are the manager/owners - very friendly and knowledgeable.  They will find you a wine you like if you describe the basics of what you want.  Fun crowd and atmosphere, much better than Bellavino.

My wife and I have been going to the Wineyard for about a year. Lisa and Stacy pick some great wines. Always have a good time there. Not your typical stuffy wine bar.

Really laid back place for wine tasting.  The owners are always there and they are very friendly.  They change their flights weekly so you can get a good taste of many different kinds of wines.  You can even customize your flights as well.

The Wine Yard is a kick back place to have wine tastings or sip vino by the glass. This spot is a gem next to the T.O. Civic Arts Plaza, just a short stroll over before a concert.  Show your concert ticket on the day of your event and receive a 10% discount, ya!

Wine Yard allows you to B.Y.O.F-bring your own food and you can sit just about anywhere-at the wine bar, behind the bar, in the 'wine shop,' outside on the patio, this place very cute, low key and casual.

They offer 2-tasting flights daily that they change weekly.  Happy Hour window is tight: Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday (4:30PM - 6PM) $5 glasses of select wine or a $10 tasting.

Keep your eye balls peeled for food trucks, on one occasion the Nom Nom truck was posted in the Wine Yards tiny parking lot, line wrapped around the back of the building.

The Wine Yard keeps on going up in rankings as they go along.  They have some really reasonable prices on bottles of wine and that is where the upgrade on my review comes from.  This is a great place to take friends who love wine and you are not going to break the bank ordering a couple bottles.  They have some great selections under $30 a bottle and when you split among a group, it works out to be pretty economical.  The staff is friendly and their knowledge of wine has greatly increased over the years.  I went with some friends who know live in Chicago and they loved this place as well.  It is good to see them still going strong after 5 years.

This is a nice spot for a wine tasting. The people who run it are friendly and welcoming, and one of the owners, and a very nice gentleman, cheerfully stopped by our table several times to give us background on the wines being served. There are some very minimal snacks available, so I would definitely recommend bringing some appetizers or going on a day there are food trucks are also there. Definitely a nice place to meet a friend or 2 after work.

I've been going to the Wine Yard for years.  It's very conveniently located next to the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza.  I usually come with a friend, buy a bottle and drink if there. Sometimes they have food trucks, so we can eat and drink.  The owners are wonderful and super attentive.  LOVE this place.  The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is it's a little small and can be crowded.

Take your wife out for a nice romantic evening. They don't serve any food but allow you to bring your own. A lot of people get delivery.

Really welcoming and laid back. The ladies who were pouring the wine were so nice and fun. Not to mention the wine we had was AMAZING! Definitely loved the vibe. My husband and I will probably become regulars!

I met a girlfriend here for Thursday happy hour and had so much fun. We tasted an Australian wine flight for $10. The gentleman pouring the wine was friendly and gave us a lot of information about each wine. We also had time between tastes to visit.  The atmosphere is warm and, even though I am not a big wine drinker, I felt comfortable being here.  I will definitely come back. My only suggestion is to bring a snack. There was some cheese and crackers at the bar but the pours were generous, it was before dinner....

I absolutely love this place. The owners are the bar tenders and they are very friendly. My girlfriend and I went at the recommendation of a friend. You can shop for wine and take it home or have it opened and enjoy it there. There are places to sit inside or you can sit on the patio. This is a great place for a date and its a completely different experience from the bar scene.

The Wine yard is an amazing place where locals frequent for the friendly atmoshpere and where visitors feel at home.  The owners, Lisa and Stacey, are very welcoming and knowledgable about wines.  It's a very casual atmosphere where you can even bring in your own food to enjoy with whatever wine you choose.  The tasting menus are varied and enjoyable.  Coming here with a beer buddy?  Not a problem!  You can sip your wine while they enjoy from a great selection of beers.  Don't miss it!

Cute place to come do a little wine tasting at.  They have 3 different options for the wine tasting.  There was a $10, $15 and $20 dollar tasting menu's.  The $20 dollar option included you selecting any wines to try off their menu.  Great wines, friendly service and really nice inside where you can sit at the bar for the tastings or sit in the back or patio area to have some drinks with friends.  They do carry beer here too. :)  Just saying....

I wish they would have an appetizer or cheese plate option it just helps as I was feeling those wines quickly, they're generous on the amount they give for your tastings...plus for that.  Not sure why I felt the need to finish it all though.... :)

A couple girlfriends and I went here and had a great happy hour. It is a fun place, the wine representative was there. They didn't have food but said we could bring in anything we wanted from anywhere. One of the pizza places across the street delivers there is you want, they even have gluten free pizza!
The tough part is the parking is really tough. There is a tiny parking lot but some street parking. The ladies are nice who own it but if you want them to hover they never will. Super friendly and I would go again.

Fun date spot. They send out an email blast of events going on for the week. They're great about bringing in winemakers and talking about their particular brands and the process of mixing grapes. Don't need to plan for it, just cruise on in.

My boyfriend and I went here on a Saturday evening to do some wine tasting. Their selection was good, but we were pretty much ignored the whole time. The server spent much more time on an older couple in the bar and took a long time to refill us between tastes or answer our questions. To top it off, after the tasting was done we decided on a glass of wine we each wanted to try. My boyfriend chose a Chablis, and after tasting it we both were pretty convinced that it was corked. We politely brought our concerns to the attention of the woman behind the counter, and rather than opening a new bottle or offering us a different wine, she actually argued with us about whether the wine was bad! She tried to convince us that some French wines are "supposed to taste and smell like wet dog" I may not be a master sommelier, but we were both very sure that this wine was corked, and even if we were mistaken, what happened to the customer is always right? We didn't finish the glass, left and do not plan to return. By the way, we were perusing their retail selection and found a viognier-chenin blanc blend that I pay 3.99 for at Trader Joes selling for nearly $18. Ridiculous.

Looks like other writers beat me to it - I was going to nickname this place Cheers! (...where everybody knows your name). My first time here was a few years back, not a big drinker but have friends who love wines. This place is run by two cool women, Lisa and Stacey who are friendly, laid back, easy to talk to, and pretty as well.

I like reading reviews before I post - especially the critical ones - so want to comment on a couple:
-I think that the $20 tasting is for their premium wines; the regular wines (which are still good) is less $.
-Wine tasting rooms have not given free glasses (to keep) for a longgggg time.
-Sometimes parking is tight, but there are usually spots available within a 1 or 2-minute walk. Don't be lazy :-)

Go to the Wineyard - and bring your friends; if you're alone, sit at the bar and I guarantee you'll meet other wine lovers who will be happy to share their stories. Trust me, it's a fun place.

You know those wine bars where you go in and the owners or employee dont even say HI!, or glance up to even notice you?....yea this is not that place!! this has got to be one of the best places to go and drink and buy wine! the owners lisa and stacey are great, they are fun and knowledgable about their wine and when the weekend comes around be ready to have some fun and rub shoulders with a great crowd, and we all know when you get the munchies after drinking wine all night they have the Rock'n'Roll grill on wheels right in the parking lot, its a totally diff. wine experience!! much better than the "snobby" wine tasting bars.....so i suggest going here asap you will have the best time drinking wine!!!

    cheers!!!

    Cons: Small parking lot.

If you are looking for a very fun and lively spot for a group hang out or the perfect pre or after dinner spot this is it in the Conejo Valley.  There is such a wonderful vibe at this place that comes from the devoted owners Lisa and Stacey who are so friendly and accommodating.

The wines by the glass are always super and very affordable which I appreciate and as others have noted they are usually boutique, harder to find wines from respectable wineries.  I've seen some larger brands in there but it's almost always a limited release or reserve offering that you can't get at a chain retailer which makes them a true specialty outfit catering to those 'in the know.'

Many have already noted this but I want to concur that this place is the antithesis of stuffy or snobby.  Just good wines poured generously by folks that want to have a good time and chat.  I see the same 'regulars' in here all the time and they are great and friendly.

Don't worry about the fact they don't have a kitchen; they have local eateries menus on the bar and I see people enjoying delivered food there all the time.  And as already noted they do get some awesome Food Truck companies that park in their lot.

In short, give em a try and I'm sure you'll make this your local good time hang out.  Cheers.

Unpretentious and inexpensive for tastings.  The two owners, Lisa and Stacy, are most friendly and know the names of their regular customers.  Thursdays and Saturdays they feature a winery of the week. More of a party ambiance with many of the same customers each week then a serious wine tasting.  Lisa and Stacy are not too knowledgeable about wines and this becomes very evident when speaking with them.  They rely on the winery rep or winemaker during the Thursday tastings to converse and answer customers questions about the wines.

    This place is great.
Local wines and it is family owned.
If you want to experience wine that is not just from Napa and in every grocery store then this is the spot.
They carry tons of central wine country wines, which I love, and other hard to find small winery labels.
This is not a winery and it's a place that is privately owned. They put all their money in this place and work their tales off to keep this place so NO wine glass for free. Get over the free wine glass people or go to McFirestone and get all the glasses you want.
Thursdays are the best nights! Most of the time they have a winery doing a tasting with a wine maker present. Great energy pumps throughout the shop on these nights.
All in all we need a place like this. The only thing is there is no kitchen so nothing beyond cheese and crackers but thats okay.

If you like wine, you'll love the Wineyard!

I became friends with my new favorite winery, Four Brix, at the Wineyard. The staff is super friendly, willing to answer any and all questions, and not at all snobby. The Wineyard gives you the opportunity to try wines you may not otherwise have found. I'm a huge fan!!

If they had a DDD for wine tasting, Guy would be all over this joint. It didn't happen over night that they pieced their successful puzzle together and took a huge growth spurt. If you visited last year, they weren't rolling yet. Give a second visit.
Grab a couple of friends and slide into to a little table at happy hour on a Wednesday food truck night. A $5 glass of their Petite Sirah and you'd swear it's from a $50 dollar bottle.
Next, experience a food truck. Out of this world, interesting, artsy food from different weekly vendors. If you tune into Food Truck Wars on the Food Network, then you know these wild west food truck guys by reputation. Watch closely and you'll see the Food Truck Tweeters roll in from  all over following their favorites. Fun.
Get yourself on the weekly email and then you know who's rolling into Thousand Oaks. Checkout their reviews online so you know the best things to try on their menus.
It's fun, it's reasonable, it's got good vibes and it's current. These gals finally found their rhythm at the Wineyard and added a new dimension  and experience for our town.
I'll raise a toast to them on my next visit, they are delivering value!

    I love The Wineyard!!!!

No stuffy attitudes. It's a fun laid back place to come enjoy a glass of wine with friends. You can laugh out loud and no one will stick their nose up at you.
And they get Gourmet Food Trucks most Wednesdays! Grill Em All, Smokin Willies, Flying Pig, Nom-Nom, Munchie Machine (just to name a few).
Lisa and Stacey are great and always brighten your day.

For those of us that feel like a beer........ They have a small selection of the better ones there.

This is no Mastros....... THANK GOD! This is a down to earth great place with fun great people.

So this used to be a Taco Bell when we were kids and even those who didn't grow up in T.O can easily see that. That may have acted as a deterrent for me for a quite a while but recently, I've finally found my way to the WIneyard via a unique path. You could say I followed my friends and a few food trucks there. Their recent move to consistently bring top food trucks from LA to all the Thousand Oaks kids who still think LA is hours away is pretty brilliant. If I'm driving a good half hour to meet my friends for food trucks I have regular access to anyway, I might as well pop open a bottle of wine huh?
So indoors we went and the wine selection is broad, the staff knowledgable and eager to help, and the vibe friendly and Cheers like where you can tell the regulars come here for a reason.

Went here on a Saturday evening as it was close by and convenient. At around 8pm there was only 6 or 7 people sitting at the bar. We all went for a wine tasting and there was a sign outside which indicated they offered them. Since it's not a winery their wine tastings consist of letting you choose 4 wines off of a list to try.

While the wine was decent and the service friendly (although not extremely attentive considering the lack of patrons) I felt like it was a bit overpriced. The "tastes" were barely a quarter glass of wine, which for 20 dollars I felt was a bit stingy, the wine glass was also an additional cost which I feel is free with most tastings.

Nice laid back, no frills atmosphere. The food comes from an outside catering company, I haven't had it yet but the options seemed appealing. Buying a bottle of wine and drinking it there is the best value instead of wine tasting. Larry is a great host and real nice.

    I rate a 3 1/2 for now. 4 if they had more food :D

Quaint place if you want to go with a couple friends or a significant other. You have the choice to sit at the bar or a table. The tables are a bit small, and the place in general is small. Felt like I was in the way where I was sitting.

Inside there are about 2 or 3 rows of different wine bottle selections you could buy. Very nice selection there. It's a nice atmosphere with the twinkling lights.

The parking could be a problem if it is busy. They have their own parking lot, it hold about 15 spots or so.

The owners are extremely nice and helpful.

They don't have the most extensive wine selection by the glass, but it is still decent. A glass of wine can range from $6.50-$15.00.

They also have a deal is for $15?... you can have 4 tastings that they pick for you. Or they have for $20 you pick 4 of your own choice.

Downfall, they only have crackers, and you could get some cheeses, but depending on where I go I might just pass....

For Thousand Oaks, this isn't a bad place to start off the night and then maybe head over to a bar if you are looking for a more outgoing atmosphere.

This place is wonderful.  Not only is the wine fantastic, but the owners and patrons are GREAT!   You feel more than welcomed right when you walk in.  Great selection of wine, great prices, relaxing and/or fun atmoshphere!  You can also order food to be delivered or munch on the platters they have to offer.

What a great place  to enjoy a good glass of vino!  Everyone there knows how to have a good time.  If you want to be part of the louder crowd, it's easy, because their thought is "the more the merrier".   If you choose to sit with friends and have more of a mellow gathering, there's enough tables that you can do this too.

I will DEFINATELY be back.  Loved the atmosphere...and the people!

THANKS WINEYARD for bringing such a great business to the TO area!

The wine selection isn't that great.  The service is atrocious.  If you want to pay good money to be treated badly, the WineYard is for you!  The bartender/waitress was not helpful at all and ignored us almost entirely in favor of an older couple (i.e. she assumed they had more tip value than us).  There's a lot of snobbery in the Westlake/TO area, but this really took the cake!

I'd driven by the twinkling lights of the Wineyard many times, but never made it in. Last night, however, I had an hour to kill and it seemed like the perfect spot to do so.

It's not glamorous (situated in what many years ago used to be a Taco Bell) and it's not fancy (the patrons are rowdy rather than refined), but it's really comfortable, the owners are friendly and the offerings are top notch.

I ordered a glass of Sonoma Cutrer chardonnay for $10, which is actually a really great by-the-glass deal. I was really stoked that they offered it since it's my second favorite wine. (Sadly, no Cakebread by the glass.) I also got the cheese plate, which was amazingly good. It came in a little to-go box and everything inside was carefully wrapped up individually: three cheeses, walnuts, crackers, and two decadent chocolate truffles. I sat by the window, nibbled leisurely, read a magazine, and watched the cars roll by, enjoying my own private picnic.

I love the Wineyard.  Obviously, they have a great selection of wines from all over.  But, the other thing I love about the place is their awesome happy hour.

If you haven't been there, you have to go.  The best way I can explain it, is it feels kind of like Cheers, but with a focus on wine and not beer.  The owners are the nicest two ladies and actually care about their customers.  They are VERY down to earth and take the "snootiness" out of the typical wine bar set up.

If you have time, stop in and check out the place.  It's well worth a visit.

My friends/pool teammates and I go to the Wineyard about once every month.  As a former resident of the central coast, I am not only a "wino" but also have been to a lot of the most gorgeous wineries.  The Wineyard is an old Taco Bell, located right next to the Civic Arts Plaza.  Depending on the featured winery, parking can be very easy (out in front or in the back) or extremely painful.

It's $10 for a tasting and they have a small spread of crackers, cheese, and nuts.  It has been open for almost a year and the owners are always there pouring and getting to know their patrons.  This is why the Winyard gets 4 stars...clearly it isn't out in wine country in some gorgeous building...but the service and the hospitality of the Wineyard gets it 4 stars.

You can join their wine club and get a delivery every month.  This last tasting was Pacific Oasis, which is up in SB county.  They had the actual winemaker there, explaining his methods behind each of his wines.  His Pinot Noir was amazing, so many different flavors.  He signed bottles if purchased as well and if you are at the tasting you receive 20% off of any of the wines tasted.
