Not impressed. Out of all the places in Ellensburg, I don't think I'll be giving this place another try. I had gone here several times prior to my most recent trip, all with slow service but the food was alright so I went back. Boyyyyy do I wish I hadn't.
My boyfriend ordered the fish & chips and I ordered the Asian chicken salad. He's ordered the fish & chips before so we thought we knew what to expect. Last time the fries were shoestring fries. So naturally, I didn't order a side of fries (that I was craving) expecting to have some of his. When our food arrived his fries were regular frozen french fries. Quality control anyone?! Even worse, the cabbage in my salad was moldy. It was absolutely disgusting. There was little black spots ALL over it. We brought the moldy cabbage to the attention to our waitress. All she did was take 4$ off our total. Um, the salad was 10$. Seeing mold on my cabbage didn't quite inspire me to eat the other toppings of my salad.
If the owners of this place want to last another year I'd step up the speed and quality control.
The place looked promising. Â Our party of 11 arrived at 12:30 with a 30 minute wait. Â We were seated at 1:11, ordered, and waited another 40 minutes for our food. Â We watched 2 other parties of 6 come and go in that time during which the waitress never stopped by. Â A basket of fries or something would have been nice. Â I complained to the hostess and she could have cared less. Â I'm NOT impressed with their service!!! Â Why did I leave a tip?
Review Source:After a few negative food and service experiences at this place, I am happy to say that during our most recent visit this establishment was noticeably improved in all areas! They had new waitstaff that appeared to be well-trained, much more knowledgeable about the food and drink menu and the kitchen had a good turn-around time. The menu also had been adjusted to offer some new food options. Our actual food was still a little hit-or-miss (my husband's appetizer and burger were very flavorful but my wings tasted dry and were seriously lacking on sauce) but they were also very busy that night and I don't expect culinary perfection at a mostly-wing and burger joint. I am glad this place is improving as it shows they are listening to the reviews of their customers. I will probably be back for visits a little more often now.
Review Source:What's important to me??? I frequently travel from Missoula, MT to the Seattle, WA area for both family and business. If I'm away from email for too long, I will be buried in a pile I can never dig myself out of. I have Team and client meetings to do by webinar along the way. So, what do I need? I need wireless and a plugin and a place that won't fuss about the fact that I'm still there two hours later!
Today I found out that Roadhouse Grill fits this need perfectly. Central WA has always been a problem for me in the evening - no longer!
The place looks good walking in but I have eaten in the bar area several times over the summer while in Ellensburg and found the service wanting on almost every occasion. The food has been good, after it gets there. The drinks fair, eventually. Perhaps if I had been one of the cute college boys that the servers seem to pay close attention to, my service would have been better. A shame 'cause it could be so much better.
Review Source:This place was basically like going to Applebee's or Chili's but with maybe slightly better wings. Â I'm not sure I love the wings from wing central, but they are at least decent. Â We stopped here on our from Seattle to the Gorge. Â Our waitress screwed up our order and both the waitresses on the floor seemed a little spacey. However, the manager did comp on of the meals which was more than we expected or needed. Â The nice thing was that they had several local beers on draft. Â Ultimately the service was friendly, albeit not of an amazing quality. Certainly nothing special, but it was overall a decent experience.
Review Source:Are there negative stars? Waste of time and money.
Average food most days, bad food on random days. WORST service.
The wings are the only thing holding this place together, if the service allows you to even get them. We have tried this place 3 times hoping the bad night was just a fluke. It wasn't.
For example:
We had 2 regular cheeseburgers with signature garlic waffles fries... $30.00
My bun was dried out or stale, fiancé's was completely soggy from fry grease.
Fries had little to no garlic, not crunchy just greasy. Either the fryer grease was too old or the fries were fried... and then fried again to order. Bad.
Service was terrible. It was 7pm on a Tuesday, maybe 8 other tables in the whole place. Hostess placed us at the smallest 2-person booth in the corner closest to the kitchen, which should not even be a place for a table. LOTS of empty space so we asked very nicely if we could sit somewhere else, and would wait for one if we needed to. Hostess rolls her eyes and grumbles, then walks over and threw down our menus on another table without a single word.
10 minutes later, place our orders. Another 10 minutes later, our drinks arrive. 45 minutes and entire drinks gone, later, we call the waitress and she is clueless. She offers us another drink at our expense. "We're really just excited for our food", she leaves. A manager returns and informs us our order was never placed. We were pretty upset; they gave us the drinks free. More than an hour spent there on a slow day and we left with no food.
We had similar experiences two more times. 3 times is too many. A complete waste. No excuse for TERRIBLE service in a small town.
UPDATE:
The owner has personally apologized for the service.
Stopped in on a Friday evening on our way through town. Â None of the food was good. Â My Southwest wrap was bland, my husband's brisket was dry . . . the bread wasn't baked all the way. I think the best food was the $5 chips and salsa as an appetizer, but even the salsa was more like spaghetti sauce.
Review Source:After driving through the mountain passes to take a peek at Central Washington University, we came across Roadhouse Grill. We were starving and hadn't thought of actually driving through Ellensburg's "inner city" to find more restaurants. And stupidly, I didn't check Yelp on my phone to see what good eats were around.
I ordered the Southwest Wrap, filled with chicken, lettuce, black beans, corn, crunchy tortilla strips and cilantro all wrapped up in a tortilla, and it came with fries. Not the best wrap I've had (probably biased by the typical "wrap" burritos I get from Chipotle...yum), but not the worst. It lacked the OOMF that other wraps had. Not as flavorful, but the portions are quite large. Had a good amount of fries left over.
As for service, the waitresses were friendly and got what you asked, but the service is SLOW! I asked for some mustard (yeah, I like mustard with my fries. Whatcha gonna do?) and it took them a good 5 minutes just to grab a bottle of mustard. When it came time for our check, they took their time getting and returning our bill. It wasn't even a busy day, there were maybe 3 other tables taken in the whole restaurant. No excuses.
Not horrible, but had better. If you like Red Robin, you'll probably like Roadhouse Grill. Do yourself a favor, and check Yelp before you enter a restaurant!
After a long drive over the pass, we decided to try this place because it was across the road from where we were staying. Â
We walked in and while we were greeted promptly the Hostess didn't seem to be happy about her job. Â I understand everyone has ups and downs, but just about all the young ladies on staff seemed disgruntled about being there.
My mom wanted a salad and baked potato with her entree, but we found out that a salad is $1.99 and to substitute a baked potato is $2.00. Â That is crazy, especially for the price of her meal. Â So she got the fries instead which while the flavor was good, they were shoestring fries, which my mom doesn't like.
I ordered Chicken Pesto Penne Pasta. Â It looked and tasted a bit dried out (like it was under the heat lamp for a while), needed more chicken pieces and needed more basil. Â
The bread they serve at the table was really a treat, though! I liked it a lot. Â
I'd like to see them get rid of the Red Robin decor. Â It seriously detracts from the atmosphere. Â I would have felt better about paying $15 for my entree if the decor was less corporate and more home-town.
Met my parents there to hand off the kids for a visit. This is a great place for a family dinner. Great food and very friendly and accommodating staff. They happily split portions for the kids and my parents, and even threw in some nice extras here and there without charging. Towards the end of our dinner the owner stopped by our table and chatted for a bit. This will definitely be our future meeting spot.
Review Source:This is a  good place to eat the next time you're in Ellensburg.  We stopped by Sunday to visit my cousin who's going to CWU and take her to lunch.  She said her go to place is the Roadhouse Grill.  The place is clean, run by teenagers and has good food.
I had the teriyaki burger which literally dripped teriyaki and pineapple juice all over my hands - it was delicious. Â And the fries are really good, very thin and crispy. Â Mitchell had the pulled pork sandwich and Kaitlin had the chicken strips. Â I think all together our tab was about $40 which seemed appropriate. Â We had good service and our booth was comfy.
It's not a place I would go regularly, but the next time I'm hungry and going thru Ellensburg I would stop there again.
This is now the Roadside Grill -- owned by the same people who run Wings Central.
The Matterhorn's food was disgusting and this place is a step up for sure.
Too bad its a baby step.
My friend was talking it up so we went -- I have moved out of Ellensburg and I'm no longer on the cutting edge of culinary treats there.
I ordered a raspberry lemon drop that was quite good but it sat on the bar for 10 minutes or so before my waitress brought it over to me..
I also got a buffalo chicken wrap --which I was excited for because it was suppose to have the medium buffalo sauce which is usually on their famous wings -- however the chicken was barely touched with the sauce and it was so packed with lettuce it was hard to taste anything else.
I was hoping to redeem the main course with the dessert -- a build your own ice cream sundae! Howevs-- when I ordered it the waitress said she had never done it before (I had asked what all comes with it) and then she asked what I wanted -- I said "oh you know, chocolate, nuts, sprinkles" that kind of stuff-- so what comes out is three scoops of Breyer's ice cream in a bowl with a side of Hershey's chocolate sauce, Planter's peanuts and sprinkles -- which cost $8.95. Â Err I could have gone to the store and purchased all the ingredients for that much-- and made the dish x435...
I'm not too impressed with this renovation into Roadside Grill -- I guess my choices in Portland have made me rethink the choices in Ellensburg.
