A little help for today's daily Yelp from The Rocky Mountain Home Team's Rebekah Gehman:

"I was impressed with the Wolcott Yacht Club! Reasonable prices, a fun and eclectic menu and great service.  The Brussels sprouts were amazing! I also recommend the fish tacos and the fish and chips. As other reviewers have mentioned, the Yacht Club may be in the middle of nowhere, but it is definitely worth a visit."

We got stopped by a road closure because of a probike race, so we decided to grab a couple drinks. First off, the signs said no dogs, but I told a server we had a pup and he led us in. All of the staff was friendly and attentive. But that never determines my rating. Its the food and drink. We didnt try the food, but Holy huckleberry!!!! Best cocktail I have ever had anywhere! Literally! my bf had the moscow mule, which he rates highly and he is tough to please! (i thought it was perfect as well. Crisp, gingery and limeful :0) everything u want in a mule!) Also, loved the outdoor seating. It was benches, which had us sit next to strangers which quickly became new friends!! If youre passing throughSTOPBY!!!!

I recently threw a surprise retirement party for my mom at the Wolcott Yacht Club. I worked with Emily Bradshaw for months getting everything ready and she was incredibly helpful and worked out every single detail. I had been to the restaurant once before but was so surprised when we arrived for the big event. The flowers and trees across the property made it feel as though you were in the middle of a desolate garden. They had us set up in the back in our own little private area. The tables were nicely decorated and they had menus on each table, a non-alcoholic drink station, plates, napkins, and cutlery. Everything looked great and they remembered every detail. Lindsay was our server and was so attentive and made it so easy for people to order and not worry about splitting checks or the dreaded act of figuring out who had what to eat or drink. They brought out appetizers as people arrived and Lindsay made sure to ask every guest if they needed a cocktail or any additional food. The homemade chips and salsa were so delicious that I can't wait to bike back there just for those! We also were given a plethora of fresh vegetables and hummus that was beautifully presented and really tasty. Unfortunately I was too busy chatting to try the other appetizers but everyone had a plate full of food and I noticed several guests having seconds and thirds (which was encouraged). I have had so many people write to tell me how great the venue was, how outstanding the service was, and how fresh and well made the food was.  The price we paid for this event was so small for what we got. I contacted several venues who wanted to charge triple what we paid and they offered us half of what the Yacht Club gave us. The entire staff was friendly and really made me feel like their goal was to make the party a success. If you are looking to host a party in the Vail Valley I highly recommend this venue. Emily is wonderful to work with, the owner was incredibly kind, and the ambiance was pure Colorado. I could not have asked for a better party and can't wait to get on my bike and try some more menu items because I know they will be amazing!!!

Can't go wrong.  The menu is limited to weekly specials that are both tasty and delicious.  Great place to have drinks, dinner or a relaxed lunch.

If you have predisposed thoughts on this little gem, throw them out the window.  When you park in front of its shabby chic exterior and assume you will only find a greasy burger within....you have judged a book by it's cover. The Wolcott Yacht Club has reinvented itself once again and it is DELISH!
The summers on the flagstone patio are good as ever with the live music, friendly atmosphere, cozy setting and comfortable food.
However, the re-polished interior has so much to offer for the remainder of the winter season carrying us into our ethereal Colorado summer. Breakfast with a bloody Mary and a sheepherders skillet is my Sunday Funday heaven. The Fish and Chips are the best I have ever had. Not to be missed on the lunch menu are the fish tacos, and chicken asiago sandwich.
Whats for dinner? Whatever is fresh! The dinner menu is ever changing with their new chef and include refreshing salads, innovative soups, kumamoto oysters with the perfect mignonette, homemade kettle chips with lardons and bleu cheese, Colorado local lamb, bison meatloaf and fresh fish prepared in a myriad of deliciousness.
On your way home to Eagle, headed to Steamboat or if you live in Edwards and need a refreshing new spot, it really is such a treat to dine at the Wolcott Yacht Club and and have the sensation you found that diamond in the rough on the I-70 corridor.
    Go...you won't be disappointed.

Somewhere in the middle of nowhere west of Vail lies this little oasis. A great flagstone patio and arching trees where you'd expect a horse pasture.

Rather than the terrible fare I was expecting, we had a nice veggie burger and enjoyed the ambiance before heading north to Steamboat Springs. A big surprise!

Apparently this is the place to be on weekends for some live music and people watching. They were setting up for a techno rave that evening for the local kids, so this owner must be one cool dude!

Check it out. You'll be stoked you did.

Food was great but the service was terrible.  The manager guy named Joe could not have been more rude.  When we couldn't get service at our table, we went up to the bar to get a beer.  Joe demanded that we wait and order it from our waitress.  We told him we were tired of waiting and wanted a beer now.  He huffed and puffed then finally did it.  Not a kid friendly place either.  Joe kept giving us rude looks when our kids would get a little loud.  We picked this place to eat because it had outside seating for the kids.

Great family atmosphere right on the Eagle River! Hot spot for kayakers and road bikers.
Has excellent burgers, sandwiches, and fish tacos.

This spot is an enigma and a conundrum.  It's essentially a gas station and convenience store with an attached diner.

The diner has every appearance of a divey, low-down, greasy spoon joint with as many calories as cockroaches.  However, looks can be deceiving.  I'll just say this - who would ever imagine that you could get a Grilled Salmon Foccaccio Sandwich with Mango Chutney in such a remote location?  Thier fish tacos were awesome, with flour tortillas and, if I remember correctly, a tasty chipotle sauce.

The atmosphere is decidedly rustic.  During the summer and warmer months, the grill and outdoor seating has few ammenities, and serves up thier  more popular California-style cuisine.  The indoor grill serves more traditional diner fare, but it's still surprisingly good.

They are a bit pricey, but not terrrible considering the quality of the food they serve and the remoteness of the location.

The real time to visit this place is on a Friday afternoon/evening.  They have live bands play between about 5:00 and 9:00, and the place absolutely goes off.  I don't know where the people come from, but it gets packed there with a wide cross section of people.  The upper-class from Vail stop by.  Local red-neck ranchers.  The construction crews.  Ski bums who've been driving the local busses in the off-season.  Also, there's a slew of bikers who all polish up thier crome and show off their rides.

If you're ever driving anywhere between Denver and Grand Junction on I-70, be sure to take a pit stop at this hidden little gem.
