Driving past this place today reminded me of one of the darkest days of my life...and I had to review this light towards the end of my tunnel.
Abridged version...broken toe Friday(in Austin), best friend's father's funeral (in the Valley) Saturday, lost t top for my car in the pouring rain driving home on Sunday. Â It's a really, really long story. Â The Texas DPS was useless and made me call local authorities...would you cross the interstate with a freshly broken toe to look for a t top in the POURING rain?! Â I didn't think so. Â Local authorities directed me to Wolff's to wait while they looked (I don't think they really did, though) for the top of my car. Â Before my story REALLY begins, this is pretty much a regular travel stop...as far as pricing and items that they carry, pretty standard actually. Â Read on to learn about my five star rating of them.
I was soaking wet from walking to the next mile marker to indicate where I was at and driving the car with no driver's side top on. Â I walked in and asked if I could park under the awning by a broken pump and was told that I could. Â By this point I wasn't thinking clearly and was wandering gimpily around the store, freezing my ass off and crying my eyes out. Â A restaurant employee offered me coffee to warm me up and a little old lady brought a coat in from her truck for me. Â I then remembered that I had dry clothes in my car, but was still freezing my ass off after I changed. Â I decided to wait out the storm, so I had some fairly tasty chicken strips from the restaurant and hung out, drinking coffee for another hour or so. Â They kept coming to check on me...something I really, really appreciated, seeing as how this is exactly halfway between my friends in Austin and my family in McAllen. Â I almost had to ghettofy my car with trash bags and duct tape, but they had none. Â By the time I went back outside, the downpour had stopped, so I threw on a poncho and was on my way, forgoing the search for the t top.
Clearly, these people went above and beyond what was really necessary...something that eased my tears just a bit.
