My girlfriend and I stopped in here for a quick break on our drive from Seattle to Spokane. Â We are both from small towns and love meeting locals from other rural towns. Â We walked into the Wooden Nickel not knowing what to expect. Â
We immediately loved the fact that they have a real Buffalo head and pelt on the wall - super cool. Â We both ended up having a beer and chatting it up with Bryan and another local. Â Bryan is a very nice guy, down to earth, with a good head on his shoulders. Â I could tell that he is a hard working man and genuinely cared about his guests and their experience. Â I wished there were more Pub owners like Bryan. Â We had a great time and walked out with a smile on our faces. Â I hope that life takes us back to Ritzville again in the future just so we can drop in for another drink.
After using Yelp to find the Wooden Nickel, I called and talked to Bryan the proprietor about our soccer team and parents dropping in for lunch yesterday. Â Bryan and his crew were very happy to see us and all the girls went away full and happy. Â Service was great and parents for a good lunch as well very quickly. Â Cool town and fun history on the walls. Â Stop by!
Review Source:It was Friday at about 6pm when my brother and I were traveling and stopped in Ritzville for the night. After walking around the town looking for a place to have a beer and finding nothing that carried much more than BMC we were sitting in a dirty little bar with poor service drinking a Sam Adams, the most exotic beer offered, when we noticed people going into and coming out of a place across the street called The Wooden Nickel. Then we noticed that the people coming out had food so we decided to check it out.
The first thing I noticed was a sign that said 24 beers! Hallelujah! This place was clean, bright and smelled great! A real gem where you'd least expect it. The food looked and smelled great! Pizza and sandwiches were being ordered and eaten by happy customers. To be completely honest I must confess that unfortunately we had just stuffed ourselves with Bratwurst, Cabbage Rolls and Strudel at a Deutschfest in Odessa so we couldn't eat but the food looked and smelled wonderful and people eating it seemed very happy! As for myself, I ordered an Oktoberfest beer (or three) and talked with the owners. It seems the couple that owns the Wooden Nickel opened this place last spring having moved up from Portland OR. Ritzville's good luck. Well to make a long story a little shorter you should go there! I will, and I'm already looking forward to the nest time I have to pass through Ritzville because of The Wooden Nickel.
