There is a sassy passive aggressive sign by the register that says they don't take credit cards. Instead of putting Cash Only on the door and having an ATM on site, they flat out don't want your patronage if you have credit cards and not enough cash on you. Epic fail. If they don't want my business they aren't going to get it.

The place is small, dark and feels dirty. We waited over an our for our small, overpriced pizza. The pizza itself wasn't very good. They went light on the toppings, the cheese was burnt and the sauce was really bland. Not to mention everyone burnt their mouths. The workers were incredibly rude.

This place came highly recommended to us but we were all disappointed.

Slow service but usually worth the wait.

Recommended as the pizza place to go by our hosts.

We scored VIP parking out front easily.  Ordered at the counter and grabbed a table around dinner time without a fuss.  The atmosphere is very casual.  The kitchen and prep area is just behind the cash register so you can watch them kneed dough and create pizza's on the spot.  The three ladies working were pretty busy with mostly carry-out orders, only a handful of tables were taken.  Things inside picked up a bit as we waited for our pizza.  The Southwestern chicken pizza took about 35 minutes to make it to the top of the list to get made, baked and out to our table.  We took that time to down a pitcher of soda and get a refill (for a $1).  The Southwest pizza was BBQ sauce with chicken, green onion and topped with lots of cheddar and mozzarella.  The crust was good, not super thin, not super thick, but crunchy in all the right places.  Good pizza; cheesy, sweet and savory all in one.

I spent the first 18 years of my life in Bremen, then left for 8, and came back about year ago. I didn't like the Peel the first 18 and still don't. This is the "spot" in this town and I've never understood why.

The sandwiches are the only thing giving this place two stars. They are pretty good.

The pizza, however, is garbage. It is flavorless in every sense. The crust is almost nonexistent, thinner than New York style, and almost as thin as the sauce. Then they load it up on cheese and toppings, because hey, the taste has to come from somewhere. Have you ever heard of garlic or oregano?

The service isn't good either. The people are rude and its extremely slow.  Nothing about this place would make me think it's as popular as it is.

Seriously, Wooden Peel is the best pizza in the world, and I don't say that lightly! :)  Getting Peel pizza is one of the only "must do" things on my list whenever I make the trek back to Indiana from California.  It's thin, crispy crust is the best.

I have spent many a night in San Francisco pining for some cheesy Peel goodness...
