A sad.  Looks like they are out of business.

I have only had the steaks at Woody's and they are amazing.  Ask for the sauce on the side until you taste it.  You either love the sauce or hate it, there is no in-between.  If you are looking for frills don't go to Woody's.  If you are looking for a relaxed, simple atmosphere with a friendly staff, give it a try.

Tasty food! Worth the trip off the beaten path. Family owed and operated.

I drive by here everyday on my way to work and have wanted to try it out for a long time. I finally checked out the reviews here on Yelp and decided to give it a shot. I had some family over at the house and they wanted BBQ so I called in and made a pick up order. We got ribs and brisket but no sides because we had some at home. The order came with a loaf of thick cut bread that was cut in half and buttered and I think we paid somewhere along the lines of twenty dollars, which, for the amount and quality of the food was well worth the price. I will have to make another trip here one day to try out the steaks but since they are only open on Thur,Fri and Sat it makes it a little bit tougher but I think I will be able to squeeze it in.

I visited Woody's while staying with friends who live nearby. If you are traveling along I-35 or checking out the countryside around Stillwater, and if you like memorable meaty meals and/or local haunts, this is a short detour that's worth your time.

An unassuming aluminum-walled blue cube by the side of the road, halfway between the county seat of Guthrie and the historically all-Black town of Langston, the specialty here is meat. Don't bring your vegetarian friend who likes bbq sides, unless s/he is very indulgent of you, and/or is particularly fond of baked potatoes and sour cream.

Open only on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, and only for dinner. There's a big space that seats about 60, plus a counter. On the Thursday I was there, the place was more than half full at 7:30, a late eating hour in these parts. I'm told there can be a line out the door on Fridays and Saturdays, especially if both OSU and OU are playing home games. The family that runs it has been at it for many years, and the place is a local institution.

    Here are the entree choices:
    1. Beef Ribs - succulent, tender, enough smoky flavor to engulf you. Seem to be the house specialty (besides steaks)
    2. Chopped Beef Brisket - likewise
    3. Smoked Sausage - not my absolute favorite smoked sausage (that would be in the hill country), but pretty good.
    4. Steaks - My table didn't have any, but they're apparently popular.
    5. Chicken Breast - smokiness makes it interesting and good, and the grilled onions are a nice touch, though in my personal preference, chicken can't hold a candle to the beef because it just isn't going to stand up to the sauce. And that brings us to the
    6. The Sauce - not a menu item per say, of course, but it is a very fine example of the western style. Heavy, thick, smoky, molasses-y, zingy, perfect. If you ask for a side of sauce, spicy, the cook will add more hot pepper, and your side of sauce will be even more addictive than what's already on the meat.

Platters come with a salad (iceberg), garlic bread (white and squishy and not very garlicky) and choice of French fries (frozen, crinkle-cut) or baked potato (the only worthwhile side, perfectly done, and with its own smoky flavor from the pit, it almost tastes meaty itself). Or, just get your meat by pound, or on a bun.

The menu had mentioned that jars of sauce were available for sale, so I asked for one at the end of the meal. Sure, the waitress said, five dollars. I expected her to be back in just a moment with a jar from a shelf somewhere. Instead it took a few minutes, and when it came, the cook brought it out, in a plastic shopping bag. "Be careful, it's hot," he said, and walked away. He'd just put that night's hot sauce in a label-less Mason jar and sealed it. Not what I'd been expecting, but great.

Domestic beers are only $2/bottle, imported, $3. Takeout available too.

    The actual address is
3001 North Westminster Road, Guthrie, OK
    (405) 282-2658
About 4 miles East of Guthrie on State HWY 33.

This is a dive.....a real dive, but the food is great!  For those of you familar with the old H&A Supperclub (aka Harriett's) that was in Guthrie many years ago, this is the place for you.  Apparently Harriett's son Woody has all her recipes.  The ribs and steaks are great.  Dining there brought back fond memories of 30+ years ago.

No frills at this place, almost no curb appeal--its in a metal building-- but once you walk in the door you're in rib heaven.  The prices are very reasonable.  Give it a try!
