I loved my visit to Lopez island, but this place was not good. Visited while waiting for the 5 pm ferry home with two friends. Upon entering, noticed two other patrons drinking wine out of small plastic glasses. The proprietor was balancing a dated cordless phone between her shoulder and ear, and paused her conversation only to take our orders. So weird. Food is pretty much exclusively fried stuff. I ordered the fish and chips, which not surprisingly came out overcooked, since that phone conversation lasted through our food prep and past each of us paying our bills. Locals suggested the Galley, wish we had had time for that spot instead.
Review Source:Had a chance to visit the real Ye Scurvy Dogs -- by the ferry -- and take friends! We had hot dogs, each with its own custom combination of toppings, all included. I had sauerkraut and mustard, another of our party tried the berry jalepeno jam and cream cheese. There's something for everyone!
This time, we were able to try Powdered Monkeys, fantastically amazing fried balls of dough rolled in powdered sugar. They came out piping hot, cooked to order and were so delicious we couldn't stop "mmm mmm"ing while we were eating them. It was the perfect amount to share with four people who each had a hot dog. Alternating between the sweet donut and the salty dog is the way to go, too.
They serve their food hot here, which is a refreshing standard for a "food shack." They do have a little dining room but at the hour we were there, morning, it was walk up only. The gal working was very friendly and helpful and we got out food fast and ate it while watching people embark and disembark from their ferries. What a treat!
Want to eat on the uncivilized Lopez Island without venturing too far from the remote ferry dock? Ye Scurvy Dogs is your only option! Luckily, these are some ballin' hot dogs! So messy and full of toppings it required a knife and fork. Delicious. They use all Costco products to make their stuff from what I can tell. (Was able to see back into the kitchen quite a ways.)
