This is THE place in Petrolia. They have a full bar and restaurant. Two pool tables and a couple vintage arcade games. The drinks are strong, the beer is tapped and it's always a good time. Considering the lack of competition, this place still does a fantastic job of trying to do the best they can for the community.

They do a much better job then they have to considering this is your only option for miles.  I have been there on two separate occasions and have been pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. Nicely prepared and delicious.  Used to be a hole in the wall but completely remodeled and much better now.

The only reason I give the Yellow Rose 5 stars is because I thoroughly enjoy hanging out there.  It is a fun bar, and it is family friendly generally.  My biggest issues are with the restaurant side of the bar.  I eat here several times a week, and I always seem to have some problem.  Overcooked, undercooked, everything on it I asked not to be, or I call in an order an hour before closing of kitchen, and it forgets to get put in.  This would not be as big an issue if there was somewhere else to get food close, or if I hadn't just driven an hour to get there.  I think that the food should be served later than it is, at least a limited menu after 9.  I do think that there are some of the nicest bartenders, although on busy nights, such as Friday or Saturday, there should be a second bartender at least between 9 and 1.  Okay, after all is said and done though, the place is classy, fun, and the food is actually pretty good most of the time, albeit a little pricey which tends to make me pickier on it being done right.

I stopped by on a bike ride recently. It used to be a bit run down but this place has new owners, menu, bar starting in 2012.  Hearty pub food and a fun atmosphere, friendly bartenders and waitstaff. Large flat screen TVs for the sports fan, but more importantly, it's nestled in one of the most beautiful parts of California. Highly recommended.

The previous review from 2009 sounds great, but their telephone number is disconnected now. If you plan to make the drive out here, better BYOB. No reflection on the future or past management, but as far as I can tell there is none as of this date.  6/25/2012

On a cold late winter day, a welcome sight after a drive out from 101 to get to the lost coast of Mendocino.    The only ones there, wait-tender was super-friendly, Nora I think was her name.  Good honest cheesburger, a pool table in one corner and a bar to go with it.  considering there is nothing else within 30 miles.   Gets my approval.
