Yesterday Cafe has relocated down the road from Rutledge to Greensboro, GA.  It is all about southern comfort food.  My bros said it was all heavy, salty, tasty and good if you know what I mean.  Might be the best place to eat in downtown Greensboro.  Owner came by our table and was very sweet.  I liked the feel of the property, our group of 8 golfers had no trouble downing the sweet tea and prime rib specials.  The waitress was even able to accommodate my odd ball request for just a baked sweet potato (no butter) and large salad (no cheese).  Apparently I was the first alien vegan to land at Yesterday Cafe! ha-ha! Somehow we always find something to eat.

In the little town of Rutledge, GA; across the street from the park stands a country kitchen worth a look. Good biscuits and country style potatoes. Others in my party enjoyed the ham and gravy. So if you every make a wrong turn off I-20 or just feel like a little get away. Join this small Georgia town for breakfast or lunch. Good service and prices to boot.

Nestled on the main street of historic Rutledge, you won't need to worry about finding a parking spot on a Thursday night.  While waiting on the food, the kids were enthralled by the collection of cracker barrel-like items for sale including the Jacob's ladder and the country-come-to-town greeting cards.

Although I didn't venture to the restrooms, they were apparently disgusting enough to warrant negative comments from my daughters. But since I didn't see them, then I can't include that in my review, now can I?

The kids jumped for fried okra with their meals in lieu of the fries. The bleu cheese burger, kid's burger, and chicken tenders were nothing remarkable but met our expectations. The kids opinion? Well, they were excited to eat out without their two younger two siblings and probably had the first "relaxing" meal in lives. But I digress.

The kids really enjoyed dining in a place that wasn't McDonald's and it meant enough for them to comment on it several times later on. Let's just say that their standards are probably a tad lower than yours. However, it was a peaceful way to spend a Thursday evening en route to the lake from the big city.  Set your expectations accordingly, and you'll appreciate the assistance this little cafe provides with slowing down the thoughts running through your mind as well as your stress levels.

The warm chocolate buttermilk pie with whipped cream was a clear winner with the girls once I convinced them that they need not worry about the actual taste of the claimed primary dairy content.

The no-longer-safe-for-installation 10' slide at the park across the street is clearly visible and the focus of our after-dinner excursion.  You may even meet some friendly local barefoot kids who biked to the playground to play unsupervised. They quickly offered their assessment of and tips for maximizing enjoyment with all of the playground equipment.

Yep, we're not in Atlanta anymore, kids. Enjoy it while it lasts!
