Yesterday's Restaurant & Hotel

This restaurant is in what used to be a YMCA. It has old records and 50's-70's memorabilia on the walls and an old diner feel. The staff was friendly. The food was okay - - not bad, but not something you'd go out of your way for. Prices seemed a little high, but the town is pretty isolated.

HIKERS BEWARE- We stayed at this hotel this week to be in town for the Hyner Challenge. BIG MISTAKE. I have never written a review before and am only doing this because of how awful this place is. The owners are like slum lords and do absolutely nothing to care for the rooms that they rent. The place is old, which I really don't mind, but seems to have a layer of scum on everything. I wouldn't have even minded that. I'm ok with roughing it, but she" accidently" booked to have a benefit fundraiser in the bar below the night before the race. Starting at 10 o'clock the music was so loud that it shook our room  (because the walls are so thin and the music was so loud). It was very, very difficult to get to sleep. I talked to several hikers who decided it was better to sleep in the car than to tolerate the hotel environment. If you're looking to be rested the night before a hike in the area, I wouldn't recommend staying here.

As a side bar, there is a small restaurant downstairs that is ok, but I would not recommend the hotel for renting a room.

Fun diner well decorated  in 50's music style.  Average service, a bit better than typical diner.  Prices also a bit higher, but not unreasonable.  Burgers and fries were fine, but other sandwiches and wraps were better than average.  Meatball parmesean sub hit the spot.  They also serve sweet tea.  All-in-all, a pleasant lunch stop.
