The only good reason to visit this place is too talk to the sweet bartender that was working this Thursday night. She seems to have good ideas for the place but the owner must not be listening. When we first walked in, there was no music playing, the 3 people at the bar stopped, turned, and watched us walk in...very awkward! The owner makes you pay for music from the jukebox so if no one pays, nothing plays. Pool is 8 dollars an hour, just like SLO brew except these pool tables are so lopsided you could fall off them if you're standing on them! How about some free music and cheap pool! This place could rock!
Review Source:This place is a disgrace. Went for an evening out, 10pm on a Saturday and we were LITERALLY the only ones in there, aside from the bartender girl. Ordered some beer and paid for a pool table.
The beers were flat, like they'd been sitting in the keg for months, and were absolutely disgusting. We had to fish around for pool cues that weren't bent or had the bumper at the tip ripped off... and the tables were shoved against the windows so half the table was unusable for the game. We hurried through our game of pool and got the hell out of there.
The only thing was that the barkeep was polite and tried to make the best of the face she was working in a graveyard.
Went to SLO Brewery and for the same $8/hr pool - better tables, real beer, actual music and atmosphere. Â
Whomever owns ClubZ has obviously stopped caring altogether and is just waiting for the place to fold.
This club looks like it could be pretty cool with the lighting & stage, but it is not a good idea to hire a booker/sound person/promoter that does not return phone calls or emails, offers a guarantee/contract and then trys to persuade the bands not to sign it upon arrival, gives the band a check with the wrong date, and goes on facebook during the soundcheck. Â I heard that this booker is no longer working there, so I will change my rating accordingly. Also, thankfully the owner heard our story & paid us what we were originally promised in the end. :)
Review Source:Unfortunately this is the only place in town that has good pool tables along with sticks to play with. Â The smoking lounge is unique if you like a good puff of a Cig or Cigar. Â I would rate it as a place to go before you go down town since the drinks are reasonable and it is usually quiet. Â Late at night they say there are a lot of fights and you have to watch out for the police officers lurking in the shadows trying to catch the ones that have had a few too many drinks.
Review Source:Some nights, don't you just want to grab a drink and chill out after work, and NOT have your toes stepped on and beverages spilling on you from every which way? I go here for the friendly bartenders, pool tables, and to avoid the downtown crowds. It's closer to where I live anyway, and they keep the same bar nighttime hours as DT.
Once in a while they'll bring in some interesting people to perform, like 2 Live Crew.. Some other bands that play are pretty shitty but luckily, last time it happened, the bartender just said "Ok, that's enough," and put on some better music. Haha. You will encounter quite the crowd here, weirdos and normal people alike.
Went there to see my friends boyfriends band (which was good) but as for the bar as a hole..mehhh. Â Prices decent yadda yadda yadda, my main beef is with the crowd that hangs around there. Â Maybe its me being the introvert I am or maybe I'm just kinda over the whole SLO bar scene. Â Oh well. Â Anyway its also out of the way of all the other bars in SLO (I was there on a Saturday night and it was pretty empty- compared to most SLO bars -especially the ones downtown) you do get an older crowd at the Z. Â But my buddy did have a pretty bitchin' dance off with the DJ there.
Review Source:"The Dirty Z" is what we used to call this place. Â Located on the 'outskirts' of downtown SLO, the Z club has $1 beers before 10 pm on weekdays. Â There were some nights when it was pretty dead and some nights when it's pretty alive. Â Get a group of 10 people to go and you will bring the party. Â
A pretty even mixture of "slocals" and Cal Poly students as well. Â
My highlight memory was going here with my dance friends (slocals) and dancing on the "pole" which was a tube with a light and water running through it on a pseudo stage. Â I made a couple bucks up there and on our way home we somewhat 'kidnapped' an underage (couldn't have been more than 20) male model and took him home with us.
He was scared sh*tless. Â It was priceless.
