I came here to burn some time while family drove from CA. I had the fish & chips plate which was really good accompanied with a bruxelles beer, weihenstephaner hefewiezen, and a pinkus munster bottled beer - all great tasting as I past a few hours. To complete my trip I also bought their beer glass, will definitely come back when I'm in town.
Review Source:I LOVE this place, great selection of beers on tap, for San Angelo the food is different. When you order a black and blue steak that Mother is a black and blue!
The waitstaff is awesome!
Best craft beer selection in town!
Red curry is on point as well.
You guys are pretty awesome, and I dig!
After multiple trips I have been consistently pleased with the entire experience. Â An outstanding variety of beers to include rotational selections (with a handy guide if you're looking for something new or an explanation). Â The food is awesome, and when there's live music the mix is fitting without being too loud. Â Love the Reuben sandwich and I'm pretty sure the burgers are made by Keebler elves.
Review Source:We went here for lunch one day during the week. Â The appetizers are really tasty as are the sandwiches and burgers. Â Great atmosphere that makes you want to hang out all afternoon, or I just didn't want to go back to work. Â The waitstaff is friendly and fun. Â Great way to send you lunch hour in downtown San Angelo!
Review Source:Love the variety! This is my favorite everyday restaurant in all of San Angelo!!!
They have friendly & accurate staff and I always enjoy my food. I've tried the red curry, the herbed chicken, the Zero One sandwich, the ancho chicken tacos, the Bahn Mi sandwich, the harvest salad the pulled pork nachos, the coconut cream pie, the paradise pie...my goal is to try (almost) everything at least once. I'm well on my way!!!
I also love the outdoor seating when the weather permits - it's a nice change of scenery. Â
I haven't dove into the beer menu, I'm not much of a beer drinker. But I've heard it's a good selection and others I know have enjoyed the beer. They also have filtered water (hallelujah!) so I can order my normal glass of water with my meal.
I do have one TIP: I just heard that the manager has instituted a sharing fee of $4 if you share a plate. NOT COOL. I don't understand why managers do this - it's kind of a slap in the face to regular customers. So, if you plan on going and sharing a plate, be ready for this, or be prepared to get tricky so you can find a way around this.
Other than this new fee, this place is freakin awesome and I love it!!!
I've never called anybody out for their review, but Carrie S....if you're gonna give a restaurant 1 star, please be more specific. You aren't helping anybody, you just sound bitter.
This was my first time in San Angelo and, stereotypically, I thought I would find an Applebee's to be the "best of the best" in town. I was wrong.
This place is legit. They have dozens of craft brews both on tap and in the bottle. Being from Austin, I'm used to paying a ridiculous amount for a good craft brew. That's not the case here. They have good beer for cheap. I couldn't believe it.
Mandy (one of the bartenders) was excellent. She gave great recommendations for food. The wings were great and spicy, the best wurst plate was money.
One of the the best aspects of this place is the friendliness of the people. Everyone at the bar was inviting and kind and made my first visit an excellent experience. I got to hang with the locals, drink good beer and eat good food. I haven't been anywhere else in San Angelo, but I can't imagine going anywhere else next time I'm here.
I don't know why I am just know finding out about this place. Probably one of the best bar/restaurants in town. The beer selection is overwhelming. And the menu is just as vast. The only bad thing was that out of the 100 beer choices i didnt recognize any, although Im hardly any kind of beer connoisseur. You really can't go wrong on the menu though, whether its one of the burgers or the red chicken curry. This is the closest thing you'll find to a Dallas restaurant. Definitely will be back. Definitely will be hanging out here with my friends. Waitress was below average, but it was my first time there so ill let it slide.
Review Source:Have been to 01 a few times, mainly for beers and appetizers.
Beer selection is great. With places like Fifi's, Joe's, and Zero One it's refreshing (pun intended) to see bars serve up something other than just Miller Light and Bud. I'd like them to switch the beer menu to categorization by style rather than country - but that's just trivial beer nerd gripes.
Food has been tasty and the service, which admittedly started out shaky, has improved each time I've gone.
I really like this place. Â Service is good and food is good and moderately priced. Â Got the cheddar bacon burger and it is delicious! Â Also tried the fish tacos which were just okay. Â The bbq nachos are really good too, and huge! Â Great selection of beers and the interior is really nice.
Review Source:01 has not been open for very long, but they have some things figured out. Â the service is great...they're on it. Â the food is thoughtful, creative, and has a wide range of appeal. Â you can get the trendy upscale kitchy little salad or stuff with chutney, or you can get the burger which is literally smothered in a blanket of grill fried cheese, a mound of bacon, fresh greens, grilled onions, a sweet roll and general awesomeness. Â love it.
i suggest you throw down on the cheddar bacon blanket burger.....it is a violent celibate orgasm on a bun, with bacon, and a touch of pearl jam unplugged, with no chutney
My wife and I have been to Zero One Ale House many, many times. We have enjoyed every visit. The manager, Clayton, is always friendly. Our favorite waitress remembers us and greets us.
The menu is excellent. I recommend that you order the Cheddar Bacon Blanket Burger and the Mississippi Mud Cake (the single best dessert on this planet - no exaggeration, no hyperbole) on your first visit, but plan on splitting it or there won't be room for the beer.
And speaking of the beer - I swear that the first time I opened the beer menu, I heard a chorus of angels singing. Twenty three draughts and the biggest variety of bottled beer I've ever seen in one restaurant. Eric, the owner, knows every beer on the menu and is constantly adding new ones. He even has a list of beer styles along with ABV information on each one. He's been a local for almost ten years, but being from California, Eric has made certain that he has an excellent selection of wines, also.
Please keep in mind that this place is very new - less than 5 months as of this writing. I think they've done an incredible job establishing themselves. From day one (literally - we were there opening night when it was still River Valley Cafe), they have worked hard to make certain we were happy with our experience. Any issues we've had have been minor and of the nature that we encounter at every restaurant we have frequented.
If you've read this far, you probably think I don't have any complaints. Actually, I have two. One: you have to ask for a cold glass for the beer. A cold glass should be mandatory in hot West Texas. Two: Zero One Ale House isn't open on Sundays. Maybe Eric will change that when football season arrives. The Beer Menu Chorus of Angels have heard many times my teary-eyed supplications regarding that. They've said they can't promise they would be there on Sundays (seems that their main job keeps them busy that day), but they'll see if they can help make it happen.
I'm so glad we found this place in our short time in San Angelo! The beer selection is great, and the food is fantastic as well. The waitstaff is always willing to suggest food or beers. The beer samplers are nice, and even after we tried everything on tap, they were more than willing to bring a bottle or two with multiple glasses for the table to sample. The nachos are a must try!
Review Source:I've been meaning to review this place for a while. Â I've been here with a few friends for lunch as well as a group of 20 for dinner. Both experiences have been good.
First, the interior is a welcome relief. I love exposed brick as well as high ceilings. It's a huge surprise to me that there is not more of a centralized downtown build up. This and the new coffee shop down the road, are actually making a huge positive impact on everything.
The lunch sandwiches are good, if pricey. You seriously can't go wrong, I never had anything that I didn't enjoy.
They also have a great foreign beer selection on draft which, gaaaaawd, is so good. As much as I enjoy Shiner, I need something else after a while.
There is also a breakfast menu available after 11pm(not 100% sure on the time), but it features ANYthing you would ever crave at that time. I actually plan on stopping by around midnight just for a drink and some french toast. I don't see anything wrong with that plan
Sorry for not having specifics on the food, but you can't go wrong if you enjoy a good beer as well as good food. Pretty simple decision really
Well we did make it back, a couple times. The second was a girls' night out and our experience was bad. The server took forever, brought out food that was mediocre at best, and then split our checks all wrong (after offering to split it for us, we were prepared to settle the bill amongst ourselves later.) Turns out the bad server from review #1 was the "manager in charge" that evening. You can imagine... eventually we settled the issue, paid our bill, and left sober. After drinking all evening. Yes, it took that long- over an hour to figure out how to put each girls' items onto her bill. We each ordered like maybe 4 things, including drinks... seriously?
Third time was a dessert with friends- our server was fantastic (I feel so bad I didn't catch her name. Moscato and I were close friends that evening and so it's alittle fuzzy. The s'mores chocolate cake was out-freaking-standing, and I'm a little weepy now that I cannot have it again. We're all the way in Maryland now... that is probably one of the top 3 desserts I have EVER had, anywhere. And I've had my fair share of tasty treats! Service was great, the food was great! Yay! win-win, finally!
The manager (Clayton?) did follow up with me recently via Yelp. Sadly, we cannot accept his offer of trying again as we're now 1600 miles away, but I hope to be able to return again some day. Hopefully Zero One will still be there, maybe with the kinks a bit more worked out. If they have discontinued the s'mores cake by the time I return (will not be for several years) I fear a small part of me may die.
I want the recipe. Screw that. I want the chef who created it to marry me. That's legal in Maryland, right? (Polygamy, gay marriage... who cares, I just want the cake!) Seriously folks, this place has the heart in the right area. Hopefully the server has her bug worked out so she can learn from a bad couple of experiences and rock the hell out of the place. The food is good, the concept is great. And the cake.... awwwww.
Usually like this place but tonight they had the AC off. Whats up guys? Your electric bill too high. Eating in a hot restaurant sucks. We asked if they could lower the air and was just told they had lowered it twice already with no effort to satisfy our request. Maybe they should change the name to Zero AC Ale House.... Meh
Review Source:The posts that have been put on here recently have nothing to with the restaurant quality or experience and they are too personal to be considered professional. I enjoy working here and I absolutely love the environment and the food! I highly recommend coming in and trying our delicious and varied selection of bottled and draft beers from all over the world! I can't wait to see what happens with the future of the business and encourage everyone to come in and give it a try. Put all personal things aside as have a drink with some friends and decide for yourself before judging a great place based off unprofessionalism.
Review Source:This is by far the best place in San Angelo! I love the food and am always impressed!! The tuna steak burger is my favorite! Also- the staff is phenomenal. I always have a fantastic time. The beer selection cannot compare to anywhere else in San Angelo at a bar. You can't go wrong here especially on the weekends :)
