We ordered the hot links and pimento cheese as an appetizer which is spicy smoked sausage, and it was delicious. Â My husband ordered a full rack of ribs, and he said they had a great flavor and were his second favorite to those at Rendezvous in Memphis. Â He got a spicy bbq sauce and liked it too. Â I ordered the grilled blue gill, which came as three filets which were very flavorful and tender. Â Both entrees came with two sides which between us were greens, green beans, baked beans, and vegetables. Â Our server was not overly friendly or attentive and never brought us the complimentary dinner rolls, but we both really liked our entrees and appetizer.
Review Source:Didn't enjoy my ribs or fried pickles. Â Service was average. Â Wasn't packed when we were in there for a early dinner so service should not been an issue. Â Had friends from out of town and didn't recommend this spot to them. Took them further down the road. Â Want average ribs guess stay in Carbondale and eat at bandanas.... Â Ribs taste the same. Disappointed in the travel channel recommendation
Review Source:This is probably the best BBQ spot in Marion. Â Though this does not hold a patch to the original. Â Still, I did enjoy my lunch. Â The building is much larger, and more chainy than I would like. Â A larger general dinning area, with plenty of big booths. Â The bar area s much bigger as well. Â I can see this being a great place to hang out before or after a Miner's game.
For lunch I had the pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw and backed beans. Â The pork was good, though I think it is better at Murphysboro. Â On a plain white bread bun. Â The slaw is good, with a nice apple sweetness and vinegary kick. Â The backed beans, like the original, are amazing. Â
I do like this location, but seems just a bit on the chainy/generic side. Â Still service and food was good. Â Nothing can ever resemble the original, but they come close here. Â I would recommend the place if you are in Marion or wanting a good place to visit before a minor league baseball game.
