Smitty's Bar & Grill

Good Cheeseburger ran heavily on our minds as we searched for this "Diamond in the rough" of a bar. No longer is it called "Smittys", and by the looks of it probably not a bar either. Not a big fan of a poncho covering the old sign with hand written hours on a sheet of paper. Sorry yelpers...my husband and I were sadly disappointed when looking for a hole-in-the-wall bar. We frequent dive bars(usually the best places to eat)!
Scary looking place. Must've been bought and reopened as a cafe. I believe they called it "Happy Cafe"!??! Maybe next time I want to eat Happy I will be brave and go inside. As for the "night out" last night we went some where else!

One of the best made to order burgers in Southern Illinois!! This is a little dive on E. Monroe in Herrin IL and is a little of the beaten path for someone who is not a local but well worth the effort to look.

Service is friendly and the place is clean. You will think the food is taking long but it is worth the wait. We waited about 15 min on our burgers but were delivered fresh half pound burgers and fresh onion rings topped and season  perfectly.
