There is motherfucking runny egg inside the motherfucking homemade ravioli.  I did not know that was possible or an earthly option. AMAZING!

The donut Is home made  and perfect in every way.. Light crispy dusted with cinnamon and sugar while being filled with Nutella.  The wifey said it was the bets filling she has had in since college.

The toffee pudding is like a warm hand on a cold night

    Drinks were only 10 bucks

Many Bothans died to bring us this review.

Excellent experience. The ambiance was superb, food made to perfection. The small plates were perfect and the homemade pasta excellent. We tried three different ones - a gnocchi and a couple of pappardelle - and they were all superb.

Also, the hidden gem for us was the arugula pasta. Seek out Jamie the waiter - he was well-informed, polished and attentive, and yet did not rush us along at all

Everything was fantastic and our waitress Cristina was amazing.....the best service possible, very knowledgable and attentive but not smothering.  All courses were perfectly done ...The arancini and the cider braised pork belly were over the top good and the chicken was amazing.  Again, cant say enough about our waitress and how much she made the meal that much more enjoyable.  Well done and keep it up!

Eight of us went last night - We had 7:30 reservations and were seating promptly.  We ordered drinks and "small plates" for appetizers.  The wine pour was skimpy, and the artichokes were odd deep-fried sticks but tasty.  The restaurant was surprisingly empty - maybe half-full when we arrived.  By 9:00, we had still not received our entrees.  The waitress explained that the kitchen was very busy and apologized, but was pretty rude about it.  We were about to leave when the food came out.  None of us ordered anything fancy - mostly pasta dishes - so there was no excuse for an hour and a half wait.  Unfortunately, since there were 8 of us in our party, they slapped on the 18% gratuity, so there was nothing we could do except explain that none of us would ever return again.  Probably the worst dining experience I've had on the North Shore (we're all Salem/Beverly residents).  This is the second time we've been burned here.  The first time was about 8 or 9 months ago.  We had reservations one night, but we weren't seated for about 45 minutes after we arrived.  If you have to wait this long for food or to be seated, the food better be superb.  It's not. If you want excellent hospitality AND food, try Cygnet in Beverly Farms or the 1630 Hart House in Ipswich.  Leave this place behind.

I didn't know ricotta cheese could do that.. Seriously the pastas are awesome, not your typical Italian restaruant.

62 has some of the best Italian food I've had at a restaurant.  The food, atmosphere and service rival the best of North End restaurants.  Their small plate options are fantastic and dining that way creates a wonderful sense of intimacy on a date.  It is an ideal first date or special occasion location.  My fiance took me here on our first date and he asked me to marry him only a few months later:-)  62 remains one of our favorite dinner locations.

We went on Mothers Day and they seemed to be unprepared for guests.  They ran out of things, the freezer was broken, and overall the food wasn't good.  My husband had pasta with clams which was horribly salty.  It was a very mediocre experience., but I'm not sure Salem has anything better to offer.

I brought my family here for an early Mother's Day dinner.  Everything was absolutely delicious.  I had the Tagliatelle ai Funghi and the Scallops small plate - the combination of flavors was just right, I can't wait to go back for more.  I personally enjoyed the option of getting a half size or full size on the pastas, the small size was just right for me.  The service was wonderful as well, I am so glad we found this gem of a restaurant.

We just dined at 62 for the first time, and we will certainly return. We started with 2 appetizers: Chickpea Fritters with a date compote ($7) and the Scallops with grapefruit, prosciutto, green olive tapenade, and shaved fennel ($12). Both were ample and very tasty. For dinner, my wife had the Garganelli with red wine braised duck, dried cherries, cocoa, pine nuts, and Tuscan kale ($26). I chose the Faroe Island Salmon, Sicilian spiced with couscous, almonds, picholine olives, and oranges ($24). They had a number of fine wines by the glass and reasonable bottle prices. For dessert, we had the toffee pudding and gelato. The service was leisurely and thoughtful and we had a very nice two hour meal. I certainly want to try the seafood stew next time we dine at 62.

Came to dine here during a business trip. This place was great. Great selection of small plates - from rice balls to grilled scallops. They also have a good selection of wine since they are a wine bar.

During my dining experience, we had a good selection of small plates and ordered our individual size of pasta dish. It was a good amount of food where I didn't feel stuffed.

Definitely a place where I will visit again if come out for another visit.

It was my boyfriends birthday today and I was looking for somewhere to enjoy my good company with good food. I googled a lot of ideas inside and outside Boston.

Phantom Gourmet brought me to 62 Restaurant and Wine Bar. I made a reservation for 5pm right when the restaurant opened. I very much enjoyed the quietness of being first served. Our waitress was knowledgeable, personal, and added to the success of the evening. I'm a vegetarian and I felt like my waitress and the restaurant were on point with my dietary needs. The wine list was very note worthy, we enjoyed a crispy and lively bottle of Sancerre.

I ordered the Chickpea Fritters as my appetizer, I was beyond impressed. Paired with a date compote, this dish was uniquely flavorful and refreshing. For an entree I went light and ordered a salad and sides. Fresh ingredients and perfectly prepared food (my hats off to the kitchen staff) made my typically boring meal of salad and sides wildly savory and fulfilling.

With such an impressive evening, desert did not disappoint. The tiramisu was one of the best I've ever had. Rich in flavor and perfectly balanced.

I applaud 62 Restaurant and Wine Bar. I will continue to speak highly of your establishment and dine there often.

    Cheers!

My favorite restaurant in Salem so far. Good food, service, and atmosphere.

I've been twice -- the first time, I got a zucchini flower appetizer special (good), a pasta with wild mushrooms (a bit too salty for my taste; would not get again), and a warm toffee pudding for dessert - which is like a lava cake swimming in toffee sauce (excellent).

The second time, I got a pork belly confit appetizer (not to my taste, but not bad), a pasta with bolognese sauce (excellent), and the same toffee pudding.

The guideline for a 5-star rating is "As good as it gets!" and I believe that 62 is as good as it gets on the North Shore.  I would go so far as to say that it holds its own vs. the high-end restaurants in Boston.

We had three appetizers - the crespelle (excellent), Pizzetta (very good), and Arancini (good).  The service was excellent - just the right blend of attentive and leave you alone, knowledgable about the menu, wine list, and drink menu.  What really blew me away though was my main - the Agnolotti.  One of the better meals I have had in years!

To me, this place is head and shoulders above someof the other top-rated North Shore restaurants like 5 Corners in Marblehead.

My only dissapointment was that they only had a seasonal liquor license which meant they didn't have hard liquor so you couldn't get a cocktail.  With that said, they are just about to get their full liquor license and have a full bar year round.

Try it - you'll like it!

This is the best restaurant on the North Shore!  It's pricey nuevo Italian is the best around.  I won't belabor all the great food combinations and perfectly seasoned food.

My favorite thing about 62 is that they get all the little things right.  Every detail has been paid attention to.  Every server has extensive wine knowledge.  Every drink has the perfect garnish.  Every plate of food has been thought out with a special touch.  Example: Arugula salad with almonds and cheese--They're toasted almonds and it's Manchego cheese.  See what I'm talking about here?

We only get to go out to a nice dinner about 2 or 3 times a year, so we've learned not to take chances on getting a meal where service, taste or atmosphere is less than perfect.  62 gets it done every time!

I came here with my boyfriend on a Saturday night.  Had never been here before, but only heard great reviews. Had reservations so we showed up early to grab a drink at the bar, asked for their signature "Dirty Dirty" martini, but unfortunately they have a seasonal liquor license.  Not a big deal at all, but nowhere was it noted that, that was the case.  Not a deal breaker though, just a bummer.  Beer and wine still does the job.  The bartender was great, we were seated earlier than expected which was a bonus.  A little drafty in the rear of the restaurant.  We were immediately impressed with our server; his knowledge of the menu was excellent and clearly knew what he was talking about.  Eric, the server, is who we are praising.

Now to the real kicker...I ordered the Zuppa di Pesce.  Smelt a little fishy, tasted fine i guess, but sure enough, it gave me food poisoning.  It woke me up at 4am, lasted all day and i was very thankful I didn't have to work the next day.  We called to speak to a manager the following night, just wanted to give them a heads up.  He/She was not available to speak on the phone and neither was the Sous Chef.  We are STILL waiting to hear back from them.

Lucky for them, we still love food and that will not turn us away from going again, just staying away from the Zuppa di Pesce.

Not a cheap date night spot, but even past the food poisoning, we thought it was a great spot.

Had dinner at 62 last weekend, decided to pop in, no reservation, after visiting the PEM. We were greeted warmly by the hostess (makes a good first impression).
It was our 2nd time dining there- last time in July 2012. Food was excellent both times. Service was attentive, pleasant, knowledgeable.
Summer menu had a fabulous gazpacho, and gnocchi that was melt in your mouth. we shared a toffee pudding for dessert.
This time we had arranccini, crepes with oxtail filling- delish! pasta with duck and pasta bolognese. Toffee pudding but no sharing!!
This place would be dangerous to my waistline if I lived closer.

Overall a very nice dining experience. The service was very attentive (but not too much so). Not an extensive wine and beer list, but what was they had was very good.

All the meals were great. For starters wer had the bibb salad, crispy cauliflower, and arincini. For mains we had the homemade pasta with duck (delicious), slowly braised steak (also very good), and rabbit (very tasty, but a bit salty).

Three people, 5 drinks, no desert the total was $180 (excluding tip).

We've been to 62 three times over the past two years and its been good every time.

Best food in Salem. My wife and I have been there several times and have never had a bad meal.

It's not cheep and certainly not a casual establishment. But you get what you pay for. The wine list is exceptional and the pork bellies are to die for. Beer list is a bit lacking but honestly if I'm looking for a large beer selection there are several other great places in town for that.

This is the place to take your in-laws when they are visting or if you are trying to impress a date. A+!

We had one free dinner night while in Salem and opted for this place.  It was late September, oh what a night...(Sorry for channeling inner Frankie Vallie)...and it was pouring.  We managed to get in at our reservation time and promptly seated.

Our server took our order and then things started off well and then basically pulled the emergency brake on quality. We both got a glass of two different red wines and were happy with the choices.  We started with the arugula salad and the house made pasta: Chitarra (Hand-rolled spaghettini with clams, pancetta, white wine, peperoncino & toasted breadcrumbs).  If we stopped with just this, we would have had a wonderful meal and service would have been amazing.  The pasta and clams were perfect.  The salad was a perfect portion and had delicious prosciutto, pecorino, dates and a sherry vinaigrette.

After our plates were cleared it was a good 25-30 minutes before our disaster of an attempt at what sounded like delicious mains arrived.  At no time did the waitress come over to say it will be a little longer or can we get you another glass of wine, etc.  It was at about 20 mins when the server acknowledged it was going to be a bit longer.  (Not looking for a freebie, but it would have been nice to have the staff apologize for the inconvenience).  What arrived was supposed to be the following: Seared sea scallops with roasted jerusalem artichokes, wild mushrooms and black truffle for myself.  My wife had the roasted moulard duck breast with brussels sprouts, roasted acorn squash & vin cotto.  What we really got was perfectly cooked scallops (Thankful for that) over a pile of greasy burnt mushrooms, artichokes and smelly burnt pancetta.  At that point, I was just happy to have the scalloped perfectly cooked.  The pool of grease beneath the scallops was gross and not appetizing.  My wife's duck was also similar.  The duck was medium rare, but the same greasy mess of dish covered her entire dish.

If for some reason we find ourselves returning to this place, we'll stick to the pasta and starters.  It was just as though everything for the main courses were drenched in clarified butter (Not the best option for delicious buttery sauce).

I had a great experience at 62. I had been before, but this past time was just spectacular. The chickpea fritters were a little spicy, but delicious and creamy on the inside and crisp on the outside. The fried cauliflower was lightly battered and really tasty. The Tagliatelle ai funghi was cooked perfectly al dente, with a generous amount of truffle and mushrooms. The poached egg added the perfect creaminess on the dish. We finished the meal with the warm toffee pudding, which we get every time. It is covered in caramel, and was the perfect end to a great meal. While the food was amazing, our server made the night memorable. By far the best service I've had in Salem (or Boston for that matter).

Salem... Italian... I never expected food this good in Salem, MA. This is hands down the best pasta I have had outside of Italy. The menu is sectioned just like a menu in Italy with Appetizers (Primi), Pastas, Entrees (Secondi). We had 2 pasta dishes and 1 entree. The pasta portions were the perfect appetizer size, they do offer entree sizes if you want just pasta for your dinner. we had Pappardelle tossed with a ragu of wild boar and rosemary, and the Hen of the woods mushrooms, black truffle, parmigiano & soft-poached egg. The Latter was the most delectable pasta dish this side of the Atlantic. I mean how do you beat those ingredients, the balance of the dish was perfect.

For the entree we had Seared sea scallops with roasted jerusalem artichokes, wild mushrooms and black truffle. Again a perfect balance of ingredients which still allowed the scallops to be the star of the dish.

The decor was upscale and and quiet. Great place for a romantic dinner after a full day of witch trials. Seriously great food, put this on your to go list!

Came here after a horrible dinner experience on our anniversary.
Told the manager overseeing the front of the wine bar and he brought out Gluten Free Desserts for us for free. Candles and everything. We had amazing wine selections chosen for us and a great customer service experience. This will be our new fav spot. Great service and environment!

So my girlfriends and I stumbled upon this restaurant last year when doing a girl's weekend in Salem.  After eating at 62 last year we decided it was worth a trip up every year.  This time did not disappoint and we want to increase it to at least twice a year!

With that being said, our strategy this year was to try as much as we could of the appetizers the first night and to sample some of the other dishes the next night.  We tried 8 of the appetizers as well as being accomodated with a tuna crudo I had tried the previous year and had emailed ahead since it was not on the menu to ask if they could possibly have it again this weekend.  Not only did they have it for me but they made it 2 ways and I enjoyed it both nights!

I cannot say enough good things about this place.  The food is just simply magnificent.  Each dish was better than the next.  My personal favorites and a must try were the zucchini blossoms, mozzarella di bufalo, and arancini (although you can't go wrong with anything).  As for the pastas, the tagliatelle bolognese is to die for and I adored the garganelli with roasted duck as well as the tagliatelle with funghi.  YUM!  Oh and the desserts...all worth saving room for!

The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable as well as informed since they knew I would be asking for the tuna crudo even though it wasn't on the menu.

Definitely worth every cent for the meals.  Just sad that it's so far and will have to wait for the next road trip up!  See you soon!

I went here for a birthday dinner.  I had smoked bluefish pate and pappardelle with lobster.  The food was actually very good and the service was not exactly polished, but very friendly.

The decor is atrocious.  They have several gilded frames nailed to the wall and painted floral garlands pouring out of the frame onto the surrounding walls, mural-style.  Also, everything is crimson or black.

I think this place competes locally with the other 'nice' places, but it's not comfortable enough to be a locals' spot, not nice enough to convince me to travel to from afar, and was pretty disappointing in the seafood department for a place so close to fruitful fishing grounds.

Food was great, good wine, and the warm toffee pudding dessert was incredible.

The only downside was that we didn't have reservations for two, so there was over an hour wait for a proper table, so we ate in the lounge area, and the tables are very low (I'm tall enough that this felt odd).

    The wait staff were excellent.

Certainly want to go back, loved the food/wine.

We started our trip to Salem by looking for fabulous restaurants and wine bars.
    Thats why we found 62.

Unfortunately, they are closed on Mondays!!! A good tip to know! We walked an extra twenty minutes in fancy shoes looking for an alternative.

Luckily, Tuesday night was our last night in town, so it was even more special when we got back to the wine bar.
Our hosts at The Morning Glory Bed & Breakfast recommended this restaurant, adding that it was one of their very favorite places. It was only about a five minute walk from our b&b as well, very convenient, right in the middle of downtown Salem.

62 is romantically dimmed and spacious, and we were promptly greeted upon entering. The three of us ladies were brought to a nice table by a window. Our server was OUTSTANDING. She was quick to say hello, tell us detailed specials, and recommended a few different drinks for us to try. I opted for a Grand Marnier martini, which was so good I can't remember what was in it! My sister went for a Vodka Lemoncello Mojito, which was super refreshing. We also had spectacular wine, the Torrentes was perfect, white, crisp and dry.

Instead of entrees, we opted for a few of the smaller plates to share. Marinated mushrooms, and Olives & Feta were served in little mason jars, a really innovative idea, and it made the presentation wonderful! We also loved the crispy mozzarella arancini, and the fried zucchini blossoms might have been one of the most delicious plates ever.

As dessert, we went for their goat cheese torte (like a cheesecake). It was perfect to share, rich and creamy, while the flavor was still light and lemony.

This is a MUST when you are visiting Salem. If you have a night without the kids, or your are tripping with your ladies, or on a romantic getaway, 62 is where you want to go!
    Cheers!

Ya. As good as it gets is right. I hadn't eaten all day and was ready to eat the cat when I got home from work, so I told the boy we were going out for dinner and pronto. We settled on 62 and holy moly! am I stoked about it. So the cocktails? I had a strawberry basil thingie. Wow. I don't even know what he had, but it was also very, very good. Ok, I hate to admit this, but I actually paid $17 for a glass of lovely beautiful wine. And it was worth it. The boy is veg, so we stuck with the arancini and the frittered chickpeas to start -- whoa! Total heaven. Then "summer in a bowl" with the tomato salad to share. And then the boy got some pasta with truffles and mushrooms and a poached egg that was so sexy.. but still wasn't as delicious as my garganelli with duck and cherries and pine nuts and kale and beautiful artistry. Of course we shared the toffee pudding for dessert. Yes, it killed.

Don't get the wrong idea. Yes, you can spend a buttload of cashish here, but it's also a tapas type joint, so you don't have to, either.

PS, I might have a crush on the cute waiter. "Top notch" and all that, knowledgeable and funny and fun.

    Go here.

Came back for another pass at 62 and once again, expectations were exceeded. The list of great restaurants in Salem is a short one, and 62 has quickly rocketed to the top of the list for good reason.  Great service, an exceptionally knowledgeable waiter, a solid cocktail and wine list.

    We will be back....

Quite a surprise to find a quality restaurant in Salem. Food is equally as good as any restaurant in Boston. It is the only restaurant I dine at in the Salem/Peabody area. This would be a four star in Boston but for Salem it is five stars.

I always order the Scallops, Cauliflower and one of the pasta dishes. Dessert is also worth having.

Dining room and bar/lounge area; bistro style dining. Friendly and professional service.
Limited wine list and full bar.

Good for a date, group dining. upscale for Salem area, nice location.

Usually it makes me happy when a host says 'thank you' and 'goodnight' when I'm leaving a restaurant. After our meal at 62 Restaurant, it made me want to run out the door and never come back! We decided to go here because of the good reviews. Unfortunately we didn't have a 5-star experience like other yelpers.

Our server was a little on the strange side. I didn't notice it at first, but my boyfriend and his brother did. Then she started being outright rude, so I noticed. Everything was slow. Long waits for drinks, bread (I told her I was starving, we ordered apps and I asked for bread when we first sat down--I asked nicely 3 more times and still no bread), etc. Our table was full of dirty appetizer plates when the entrees came and full of dirty appetizer plates after the entrees came. Not appetizing.

Small plates: Tried four. Meatballs were good. The others were too salty. Not a small plate: Arugula salad was decent but hard to manage because the ingredients were whole or in big pieces.

Pastas: Ordered four. All on the salty side. It's pretty hard to go wrong with a Bolognese--except here. My friend only ate a few bites and told the server he didn't like it when she was clearing his plate. She said, "Oh" and left. (We paid for it.) The sauces tasted like they were made with canned soup, though I WANT to find that hard to believe. Unfortunately we couldn't fill up on delicious bread because (1) it didn't arrive in time and (2) it was the opposite of delicious. Thanks to our server, I doubt we would've gotten more if we'd asked for it.

Desserts: Couldn't say. I am a huge dessert addict, but by that time none of us wanted to stay there any longer than we had to. Surprise! It took forever to pay the bill.

When I go to a restaurant, I want to be wow'ed by amazing food, service, atmosphere or all three. Give me 1 or 2 out of the 3 and I'll be a fan. Give me a good drink and I'll go back regardless. By the way, the pomegranate pisco sour is horrendous. I've had pisco sours in Lima, and theirs doesn't come close, which wouldn't matter if it was tasty. But it was far from tasty. A lot of yelpers have commented about the prices, but I didn't think they're that bad. Or they wouldn't be bad if the experience was worth it. 62 Restaurant has a fair atmosphere but underwhelming food and bad service. Apparently we came on the wrong night at the wrong time and got the wrong server. Eight thumbs down.

Review for the bar only (have never eaten in the restaurant)

Love the bartender, love the appetizers and love the desserts. I come here frequently with girlfriends and we are always well taken care of. The amazing sticky toffee pudding, attentive bartender and tasty espresso martinis keep us coming back for more. The only thing that would make it better (6 stars?) is if the city of Salem would give them a full liquor license, not just wine and cordials. They do manage to have a lovely cocktail menu with said cordials. Wish I was going there tonight!

If you're looking for a great night out with a small group of people or a nice intimate place to take your partner, 62 certainly delivers.
Each meal on the menu is expertly crafted and absolutely delicious.
Fantastic wait staff. Very friendly and open about the menu. They certainly make you feel welcome.
Though expensive, you don't feel like you're in a stuck up, ritzy place thanks to the warm staff.
Expect a $100+ bill for a party of 2 with apps, drinks and entrees.
I highly recommend the 'root beer' which is an oatmeal stout with root liquer.

I'm not entirely sure of how their bar works, but from what I can tell they offer beer, wine and cocktails, but no hard alcohol (I don't think you can get a glass of scotch here, but don't take my word on it). There's a TV at the bar, if that's your thing

We've also noticed that there's always at least one family with children there whenever we go, so I assume the kids like the food. For us, it's our night away from the little one, so I can't comment on the choices for children

Get dressed up (not mandatory) and have a great dinner.

Went here last night and had a lovely experience.

Started out having a drink at the bar.  Great cocktail menu to start and a very cozy bar area.  Bartender was very friendly and checked on me twice to ensure I liked my drink.

When we got to our table, we were blessed with a pretty terrific waiter that knew exactly how to pace a nice dinner out:  He let us look at the wine menu for a bit, then let us drink the wine and relax, then took our app order, etc.    He also was very good about guiding our ordering (i.e. recommending we don't order the polenta, for example, because it came with one of the apps).

The meal itself was very good-not earth shattering, but better than average ameri-italian fare.  Aroncini was fresh and tasty, the meatballs were decent, and my main course, the wild boar pasta, was "wicked pissah"!

The one item that was not on the menu but on special that was UNREAL was the Fisherman's Stew.  Best I've ever had.

For dessert, we had the toffee pudding which, as everyone suggests, is terrific.  Washed it down with a healthy pour of lemoncello to cap off a pretty delightful experience.

    Well, that was awesome.

The girlfriend and I had an anniversary to celebrate. 62 was the perfect choice and they even had the flowers I had ordered on the table when we arrived.

All week I had been reading about how to cook rabbits and how to make your own preserved/smoked meats. I was thrilled to see rabbit wrapped in pancetta on the menu. I ordered it and was thrilled. The gf had a mushroom pasta dish that came with a poached egg. I would tell you the name but I certainly can't even pronounce it, let alone remember it. It was awesome too.

Our appetizers of chickpea fritters and Yellow Tail tuna in lemon juice were a good clue to the quality of the meal ahead.

As with everyone else writing here, the warm toffee pudding was our dessert choice. Cutting it with the accompanying cream brought the sweetness to a perfect level.

The French 75 and Peach Bellini were well made cocktails.

The portions and prices were right in line with other quality restaurants, so I am not sure what folks on here are complaining about.

The waitstaff was perfect, friendly and knowledgable about the menu as well as how the chef made his own cured meats.

This easily was one of the finest dining experiences we have had north of Boston.
